To vote for Obama or Romney, or to “waste” my vote? (reposted from a facebook conversation I am having) —————-

 To put this in a more constructive way — obviously voting for Obama is insulting to the libertarian/progressive vote for a multitude of reasons, including the drone assassinations. I don’t want to vote and have blood on my hands or seem stupid to the cause. I know I’m being lied to on BOTH sides, and that this election is mostly an illusion of choice, except down to social issues which the democrats barely even give a shit about anyways (Obama’s measures with gay marriage? Basically repeal some discriminatory acts that Clinton made. Whoopee!) The question for me becomes then, vote for Obama even though I am fully aware I am being lied to, and I am basically voting for the continued destruction of the planet and our civil liberties. Why would I do this? It’s the age old question that a third party is a “wasted vote”. I believe we can have faith in thinking our third candidate votes go *somewhere* and heard. But after viewing both conventions, I don’t think the majority of our country is ready to pull the blindfolds off their eyes. So in the event of *not* voting for Obama, I am “casting a vote for Romney” in essence. It’s the oldest trick in the book to keep us in compliance with the duopoly.  But even then, if I had to choose between the two, I feel Obama might be more susceptible to people’s movements than Romney. Sure, both conventions were literally packed with riot police (despite only a few hundred protesters at each). And people’s movements are going to be the only way *anything* changes here. I have no faith in our institutions.

And there’s going to be more people’s movements, considering nothing has been done to prevent a second economic melt-down, and we’re still a crazy military-industrial complex. It’s just a matter of WHEN it happens, and what people will demand that time around.  So who are you voting for, and why?
