First look at the new Moana dolls from Hasbro!
Princess? Is that meant to insult me?
“A warm smile is the universal language of kindness.”
“The movie tells the story of a young girl named Moana.“
Directed by the same directors of The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and The Princess and the Frog, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 56th movie tells the story of a born navigator named Moana Waialiki (Auli'i Cravalho), who sets sail in search of a fabled island. During her journey, she teams up with her hero the legendary demi-god, Maui (Dwayne Johnson).
With an original story written by Ron Clements, John Musker and Taika Waititi, and music by Mark Mancina (Tarzan, Brother Bear), Disney’s Moana is set to be released November 23, 2016.
“I really hope Moana is very successful. Maybe not as successful as Frozen, bit enough that Disney can’t sweep it under the rug.”
Moana icons. Feel free to use them.
New Pixar Short Features Indian-American Family
“Sanjay’s Super Team” is the short that will play in front of feature-length film “The Good Dinosaur,” in theaters Nov. 25.
This time next year ill be obsessively purchasing all things Moana related :3
Have you guys noticed this? it seems like Maui’s tattoos have a meaning, like they were a form of ilustration of his adventures.
Also, he has already meet the (possible) villan of the movie, the one that we saw on a previous image at the D23:
in maori mythology maui is a demigod who liked to get into all kinds of trickery, and his tattoos are a depiction of these stories!!
for instance, the top-left one on his chest is depicting the story of how the sun used to travel way too fast across the sky and sleep for way too long, leaving people with barely any daylight to get things done. maui tired of not having daylight & with the help of his brothers he snared the sun and essentilly beat it until it agreed to go slower
the one in the middle of his chest depicts Mahuika, a fire deity whose fingernails each held a flame. maui tricked her into giving him her fingernails one by one and returned the secret of fire to the people
these are just the ones i recognise and remember off the top of my head, and it varies between polynesian cultures but they are all very similar stories!! it’s neat
Moana and Maui are just friends!!!
The new movie will not have a love story. Instead, it is a coming-of-age story that follows a fearless teen who sails out on a daring mission. “She’s not out looking for her prince or anything like that. She’s out connecting to her deeper culture,” Musker said.

MOANA
So so so excited for this movie!
“The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.” - Audrey Hepburn

Okay I appreciate her endeavours into exploring her own culture but I like made this story where in the prologue a ship of some sort (white colonist ship shh) cashes nearby and a young Thomas (like Ferdinand I guess) is washed up near Moana. However, he’s the only white character in the whole movie and he tags along with Moana’s adventures as an un-ordained love interest and stuff but turns out he’s actually a spirit. As he died in the shipwreck, his spirit was accidentally pondered into the forest and met with the cunning forest spirit Turehu (or Patupaiarehe) who claim to grant him life however he remains a spirit in purgatory forever and at the end of the film when the adventuring is done Moana is reunited with her family, but forgets, runs back remembering Thomas in which the Oro God comforts her and says he moved onto the afterlife after being friends with Moana. And then the last scene is her whimsically look out on a boat in the at sunset looking at a star that Thomas promised to be for her to always look down on her. But yeah that’s my idea, ya know just a possible love interest. But no woo she needs no man

my absolute favorite part about this is that a ship full of white colonists crash and nobody survives which means that they don't end up committing genocide on noble indigenous people and that makes me very happy 👍🏽
She’s not out looking for her prince or anything like that. She’s out connecting to her deeper culture.
Protect The Rock at all costs
My friends and I were talking about Moana the other day, and it got me inspired to draw this. Can’t wait for this movie! :)
