Hip Hop Culture
I will say that it is genuinely sad when a culture starts to fade away. It is important to keep the culture alive and well rather than stand by and let it be demolished as well.
Hip Hop Culture is the culture I speak on today... So many artists get sucked into the trends of the modern society. '
This is why I love Kendrick Lamar as an artist because he knows what is right and sticks to it. Even before the beef with Drake, he showed his fans what being real and understanding hip hop culture really looks like.
Love it.

Techo-Art?
Is technology going to take over art?
Technology is the worlds fastest innovation to modern society and seems to be growing only faster and faster.. So...
What happens to art? Not only art as in painting, drawing, or sketching...
But art as in the collective!
Music, DAnce, ACTing, ILLUSTrating, and MORE!
If technology take over these forms of art, how can we as a people progress?
(Week 9 - Fall Visual Culture 408 - 2024)
After reading ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR CLASSROOM IN A BOOK (2023)'s Chapter 15, I gathered a lot of information from transforming images to clipping masks and opacity masks. I understood how to add texts to clipped images as well.
CHAPTER 15 Questions and Answers
After reading ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR CLASSROOM IN A BOOK (2023)'s Chapter 11, I learned about Gradients! I was able to understand the fundamentals, the tool buttons, and shortcuts. Using a gradient actually makes your project look nice and feel more in depth.
CHAPTER 11 Questions and Answers
After reading ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR CLASSROOM IN A BOOK (2023)'s Chapter 10, I was also taught how to keep my artwork clean and organized with layer techniques. How to move object between layers and how to lock and unlock them. (that helps in highlighting a specific group of items!)
CHAPTER 10 Questions and Answers
Urban & Graffiti Arts
Urban Art looks and feels like graffiti right?
Graffiti looks like Urban Art.
So what are the key differences?
Urban Art has more of an image based design while Graffiti has more of a word based design.
Graffiti also can be used for recognition or attention to an artist or gang, while Urban Art is just an organized abstract expression of art.
Here are some examples:
URBAN ART
GRAFFITI
Now while Urban Art and Graffiti may have their differences, they are still both considered street art. But- it is important to now your differences.
(Week 8 - Fall Visual Culture 408 - 2024)
After reading ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR CLASSROOM IN A BOOK (2023)'s Chapter 9, (wow.) I honestly cannot believe that there is so much you can do with texts in Adobe Illustrator. Wrapping texts and changing the format of texts are a given, but learning about glyphs and typing on a line are entirely new levels!
CHAPTER 9 Questions and Answers
After reading ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR CLASSROOM IN A BOOK (2023)'s Chapter 8, I was able to understand color theory from the color guide panel and using that panel does make it a lot easier when trying to find a suitable color.
CHAPTER 8 Questions and Answers
After reading ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR CLASSROOM IN A BOOK (2023)'s Chapter 7, I learned how to create sharp points in the line i make! I also learned about the pencil tool and how it can be added to a shape to create a different effect.
CHAPTER 7 Questions and Answers
Hip Hop Movement
Your own body has movement in music. Whether you know it or not- your body is always moving and creating a rhythm.
Your heart beating in a certain pattern-
Your leg/foot tapping to pass time-
You cracking your knuckles-
Even kissing your teeth-
All of these moments create a sound and whether you know it or not, that hip hop.
Hip hop is not just the modern music we hear today, it's more of a culture. Being able to hear all of the sounds a body could make and turning it into a "chant" or a "song" is of an ancient African time. Tribes would often use their bodies to create sound or music as a culture or tradition. Before there were drums and auto percussions, there were slaps, taps, and mouths.
hm... mouths? like beatboxing?
YES! Just like that. That ti-ti-ti-tat-ti-ti-ti-ti-tat is beatboxing.
Or in other words ancient hip hop with the movement of your mouth (& body).

MCing
*Drops the Mic*
What is MCing?
What is MCing?
Old school rap that makes you feel a gangster personality.
A way of spreading a message to a group of people on stage.
Yeah. It's a way of spreading encouraging messages in a rhythmic flow using emphasis on certain words, rhyming organically and not to a specific pattern, and knowledge beyond reach for effective vocabulary.
MCing is such an art that some have even went as far as learning the entire dictionary to gain knowledge and leverage on their rhymes.
(Week 6 - Fall Visual Culture 408 - 2024)
After reading ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR CLASSROOM IN A BOOK (2023)'s Chapter 6, I realized how easy it is to manipulate the lines of my logo project and create different images and line types using the same tool. I also learned about the pencil tool and how it can be added to a shape to create a different effect.
CHAPTER 6 Questions and Answers
After reading ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR CLASSROOM IN A BOOK (2023)'s Chapter 5, I was able to learn a couple of methods to keep my artwork clean and organized. I learned about artboards, mirroring (which makes my life much easier), as well as adjusting an item - whether it be changing the size, rotating, or flipping the object. A major help.
CHAPTER 5 Questions and Answers
What is Go-Go Music?
That ..^.. is Go-Go.
This type of music, like said in the video, has a funkadelic sound mixed with Latin drums.
Go-Go bands bring out the soul of the person and uses elements such as call and response, role call, syncopated polyrhythms, and a vast use of percussion instruments.
Go-Go Music's home is the capital of the United States (Washington D.C.) and it is a beautiful sound. Especially in-person.
