Sometimes, I’m the mess. Sometimes, I’m the broom. On the hardest days, I have to be both.

I'm packing up my old trophies to discard of them when I'm reminded of a conversation I got to have with Olympic gold medalist Laura Wilkinson. She said that her gold medal was temporal. Over time, it tarnished and bore signs of age. The real prize was found in the experiences she had and in the lessons she learned. At the time, I vaguely understood, but the trophies and medals meant everything to me. They gave me purpose and validation. Now, though, I see what she means. Dance gave me life when I had none, taught me motivation and perseverance when I was faced with obstacles, and gave me great friendships and memories. The trophies? Those don't matter as much as I thought they would. #irishdance
My 18th smoothie today brought to you by my newfound lack of wisdom teeth and a four hour nap. And my face ain't even swole bro. #heyo 💁🏻

I used to be that person who read two 400-page books a week. Now I carry around a book with me everywhere I go to try and remember what it feels like to feel that connection within the pages because I can’t concentrate to read further than a paragraph, or remember it, for that matter. Every time I see someone engrossed in a novel, it’s bittersweet, because I miss what it is like to get lost in the written word. I just want to be able to read like that again.
I probably would have to delete the tumblr app first.
