remember when Stephen told Tony he couldn’t tell him if they were in the one timeline where they win, cuz it would mess it up if anyone knew?
And remember when Stephen held up his finger to Tony, telling him, as indirect as it was, that this was the one?
And Tony immediately went to Thanos and got the stones because he now knew that they would win, so any regard for his safety was gone?
And do you remember how shocked Stephen was when Tony died?
So like, what if Tony wasn’t supposed to die, but because Tony knew this was The One, the time line got messed up? And that knowledge directly resulted in Tony Stark’s death?
And now Stephen feels this immeasurable guilt, because he was the one that told Tony? And now Tony is dead and Stephen feels like he’s the direct cause of Tony’s death?
Because the Stephen Strange I know—the one who tried to find a loophole to keep the Ancient One alive, the one who lived in an Infinit time loop to keep everyone safe, the one who stayed in thad time loop despite the fact that he died every single god damn time, the one who tried his hardest to keep Tony and Peter alive, even after he said he wouldn’t—would never send someone directly to their death if he knew.
