Hey! My mother-in-law's tongue is getting these weird brown patches on it, any idea why?
There are multiple things that can cause brown patches on houseplants. It could be overwatering, rot or a fungus. I’d check your watering schedule, as all three of these can occur when the plant is overwatered. Is it winter where you live? If that’s the case then you should be careful not to overwater, especially if the weather gets dark and gloomy.
I didn't know tongue was a plant and I was confused as fuck by this question
Love the username! :)
Hey thanks! Love your's too
My girl found this cute beetle yesterday
I went out on a field trip with the uni last week and found these 2 awesome lil guys. They are Bloody Nosed Beetles, (Timarcha tenebricosa) so called because of a habit to burst membranes in their mouth and spew out a bloody looking haemolymph. Pretty cool lil beetles.
Vampire crabs are a rare species of crustacean that, until recently, had scientists completely stumped - because despite noticing them in pet stores and aquariums around the world, biologists had no idea where they came from. Crab dealers had pointed to a number of possible places of origin, from Borneo to New Guinea, but nothing seemed to quite fit the bill - until finally, with a good deal of detective work, a German carcinologist (crab expert) named Christian Lukhaup was able to trace their origins back to the Indonesian island of Java.

Spider Tailed Horned Viper (Pseudocerastes urarachnoides) -
This rare and understudied viper has adapted a different type of hunting strategy. Unlike its cousins who use their tails as warning rattles, this small viper uses its strange looking tail as a caudal lure. The growth on the end of its tail resembles a spider crawling about, and it twitches it in such a way that captures the attention of animals that prey on spiders such as small mammals and birds.
Although this snake is extremely well adapted and special, specimens found for study are few and far between, so not much is known about its behavior, reproduction habits and lifestyle. It was not described officially until 2007. The first specimen found in 1968 was thought to have an abnormal growth on its tail. Another was not collected until 2003. Both were found in the deserts of Iran.
I don’t think I’ve seen these photos before! Really cool snake.
