carbon ‘ant’om

Unintentionally looks very satanic, but in my defense carbon’s most common isotope has 6 protons 6 electrons and 6 neutrons

Probably my favorite design to date, still wear it very often even though I messed up the queen ants (yes I know neutrons are actually the same size as protons but drones are smaller than queens ok that’s just how the cookie crumbles feed the colony)

Pretty simple idea, really annoying to make

All the arteries (so everything except the heart, which i carved a stamp for) I made by cutting painter’s tape into little strips and making a stencil so I could use a teeny tiny brayer (I had to order one that’s like a half inch wide) to paint on the blue and red arteries. It was way too much work but I dont think there’s really a much easier way to do it, it make seem like hand painting would’ve been way simpler but trust me with the texture of the fabric paint I would’ve gotten carpal tunnel before I finished one arm. I’ve considered selling it because I don’t even wear it but I don’t think anyone would be willing to pay anything close to what I’d like in return for all that work.

gay pink dolphins!

I was really confused by what exactly a pink dolphin was for a long time, because when you search for images you’ll get pictures of what basically looks like a bottlenose dolphin but pink, mixed in with pictures of this bulbous, toothy, beady-eyed imitation of a dolphin (I think river dolphins are cute in their own way but i must admit they do look really weird)

Turns out there’s two very different kinds of pink dolphins which are constantly called the wrong name online. The dolphin on the left is a boto, or amazon river dolphin, and the one on the right is an indo-pacific humpback dolphin. The humpback dolphin is a lighter pink than the boto, that is if it’s pink at all—they often have gray splotches, and older individuals can be completely white. The boto also often have grey coloration which is lost with age, particularly in males which can be entirely bright pink. In both species, the pink coloration is caused by blood showing through the surface of the skin rather than actual pigmentation.

ant dragon fractal

anyone else watch random math videos for fun when they were little or was I a huge nerd? I saw a video about fractals and it stuck with me. This particular fractal is made by like drawing angles in angles idk look it up (here’s a picture)

Since it’s a fractal that pattern keeps going infinitely and you end up with that general shape. The version on the shirt is one of the early stages in the drawing since unfortunately I cant fit an infinite number of ants on a single t-shirt

My first stopmotion animation!

made a paper puppet and just wanted to test it out so I didn’t put much care into the set up. I just taped a piece of paper to my desk so i could lightly outline the position with a pencil before moving it to the next position.

I’m very happy with the result, I wasn’t sure how fluid it would look with the limited positions but I turned out way better than I thought it would. It helps that the lighting obscures the edges of the paper very well and even made hard to see the pencil marks, which I wasn’t actually trying to hide. I might even use this puppet in a short film one day (in the far far future lol)

I think with the rise of ai there’ll be a greater shift back to traditional art, which really sucks for digital artists, but hopefully it’ll popularize styles which are difficult for ai to replicate. Maybe I’m biased since I myself have started prioritizing using traditional over digital means, has anyone else had a similar/contrasting experience?

don’t ask how I got the print so clean I didn’t it looked bad so I just watered down the ink and painted over til it looked good shhhhh

and the ants have little heart highlights on their heads bc I couldn’t just not do that… love to hide shape motifs in my designs

this is the best print I’ve done so far, still some patchy spots and smears if you look close but it adds character ig. The heart was two layered prints, one pink and then a red one on top. It’s soooo difficult to line them up properly, especially on fabric, but luckily the misalignment isn’t too noticeable here.

actually really love how this turned out, one of the few times the result was exactly how I imagined. Protip if you have trouble with the details of your carving flooding with ink get a essdee fabric ink roller I haven’t had trouble with that since I started using one.

their souls fused im losing it, drew this yesterday and have not stopped thinking abt it since. I go through withdrawls if I go an hour without seeing it

In the final render ill make them both translucent, so hopefully itll be easier to see what going on
