Tumblr Sexyman Contest 2026 Final Round
Senshi (Dungeon Meshi)
Ryland Grace (Project Hail Mary)
Mr. Ant Tenna (Deltarune)

“And if you’ll give me 40% of the MOST POPULAR VOTE, I’ll give you my SPECIAL REWARD... A year’s supply of NON-GLOOBY SLIME!!! Never or BARELY used!!!” Tenna concluded his speech with a huge smile, jetting his hands up in double peace signs.
The crowd roared in confused enthusiasm as Tenna gave a gracious flurry of low-FPS bows, pausing only for the occasional stink-nose at his audience plants who weren’t throwing enough 3D roses.
Eventually, the room fell silent. It was Senshi’s turn to speak.
He puffed out his chest, took a long, sweeping look over the audience… and shook his head.
“I can see not all of you are eating properly.”
The crowd murmured with embarrassment.
“I don’t know who needs to hear this, but it’s time to take the turkey out of your icebox. I have seen the ingenious technology with which your people store food... and I have also seen the waste which results from such convenience.
“The food you take had a life. Beasts grew fat on the grass of the field, plants grew from the sun’s rays, and mushrooms grew from minerals in the cracks of caves. And yet, it sits in your iceboxes, collecting moisture until it perishes.
“Eat what is given to you. Because its life will make you stronger, too.”
Without another word, Senshi left his podium and stepped away from the stage. The crowd murmured in confusion. “Is he really like that?” somebody said. “I only remember reblogging the photosets of him tripping and showing ass.”
--
Back in the Green Room, Tenna wrung his antennas nervously.
“Y-y-you think they liked me!? They HAD to!! I mean, I don’t know what Asgore was thinking, getting that weird haircut and running that food waste campaign, but… YOU thought I did good, didn’t you, Kris?”
Laios nodded aggressively, a streak of blue face paint peeling from his forehead.
“You did AMAZING, Tenna! By the way, now that we’ve seen all your insider campaign secrets, do you have any more videos of Susie? Especially her tail... If I could get a look at that, I could finally tell if she’s a dinosaur or --”
THWACK. Fake antlers butted Laios’s head.
“LAIOS?? Weren’t we dressed up to help SENSHI???” Marcille hissed, gesturing awkwardly with her hooves.
Suddenly, Tenna turned to the two adventurers.
“Hey, WAIT a second. SOMETHING’s not right here...”
Laios and Marcille held their breath.
“Where the heck are my POINTS!?”
Just then, the door opened. Chilchuck took one step into the room, whistling and holding a large bag.
Everyone turned to him.
Chilchuck paused, took a step backwards, and closed the door.
“CHILCHUCK!!!” yelled Tenna.
“How come Chilchuck got to stay Chilchuck!?” yelled Marcille at the same time.

So, in my bid to find extra manga to add to the translate list, I've found something... curious.
Not only is this completely untranslated, but it doesn't even have a page over on Mangadex, or any other manga reading sites I know of (which, admittedly, isn't a long list).
Better yet, all the raws are up on the wiki. Looks like I'm not getting off the Symphogear train just yet.
It'd probably end up being an 'exclusive to Tumblr' upload because of the 'not listed on Mangadex' thing, but hey... an upload is better than nothing.
But, it'll probably be low on the priority list for now. Already got two things lined up for next.
one of those days where I'm thinking with awe about the whole AquRuby truther movement from when the manga was running again. no matter how long it's been, remembering that there was a period of time when the unironic position held by some of the loudest people in the fandom was "this extremely mainstream manga is definitely going to end with the protagonist hooking up with his blood related twin sister as epic destined soulmates" and they were so confident in this prediction that they gave you the exact chapter they thought it would happen and the exact sequence of events it would follow and when you asked for evidence they would give you a list of things that weren't actually in the manga and call you a slur hits like a truck
gaylor for straight people with an incest kink. flat earth for weebs who haven't stopped jorking to little sister hentai since 2013
500¥ says that part of why they were so confident Canon Incest was Endgame, is the common perception that Japan is an exotic/degenerate land of perverts. That anime and manga are innately more perverse/taboo-pushing/whatever than Western animation and comics.
Japanese media is full of pedophilia and rape and incest and even gay people, so they say. So anything is possible. Discard your civilized European notions of what is permissible in mainstream pop culture, and assume you already know what's permissible to barbaric Asians.
I never much interacted with the Oshi No Ko shipping community, so I can't speak to how things went there. But the idea that a manga being mainstream precludes it from doing an incest pairing doesn't really hold water.
Just a couple months ago Street fighter 6 six, the latest installment of a culturally ubiqutous franchise, which is currently doing phenomenally well, added a character whose story mode was about his romance with his adopted sister/Cousin.
And just a decade-ish ago Game of thrones was culturally ubiquitous in America, with an incestuous couple core to the narrative from the start, and a second one being added late in the game.
I'm going to be blunt without wanting to be unkind or pick a fight: not only are these just kind of bad comparisons to make but more broadly, this post is a gold star example of exactly what GWG outlined in her post - using niche and/or subculture-targeted media as a frame of reference to paint Japanese culture as a whole as being especially permissive or even celebratory of taboo subject matter - in this case, incest. It's true that Japan has different standards for what counts as incest and differing laws and standards with regards to it, but it is not an uncontroversially celebrated aspect of daily life or even mainstream pop culture.
I deliberately included American Made Media in order to avoid that issue.
Okay, well. This is a discussion specifically about orientalism in fandom and xenophobic assumptions people make about Japan as a result of their shallow, surface level engagement with niche pop culture. So I'm not sure what you imagine you're contributing here.
I'm pointing out that your argument is rooted in a fallacy.
You're presenting it as a given that a mainstream peice of media would never go choose to have an incestuous romance. And that the only reason to consider that it might happen is xenophobic atitudes towards Japan.
Unfortunately, this isn't really a discussion we can have without looking at the wider mainstream popularity of Oshi No Ko, specifically in its home country, overseas. Bringing up an American-made piece of media to compare that to the culture surrounding Oshi No Ko isn't really doing much, especially since Game of Thrones specifically uses incest as a narrative tool within its grimdark genre, whereas Oshi No Ko is a different genre completely.
In this way, the assumption of incest being the endgame does tend to come from internalized orientalism, the idea that it's 'not so taboo over there to bone your full-blood twin sister' being an idea that many white weeaboos tend to see as perfectly normal.
And that the only reason to consider that it might happen is xenophobic attitudes towards Japan.
Oshi No Ko has a novelization aimed towards kids, has a project introducing people to every prefecture of Japan, and other such projects representing day to day life. You don't see Game Of Thrones videos about "Welcome to Wisconsin" or whatever because it's not a media aimed at all ages and despite its mainstream appeal, it is still incredibly scrutinized and controversial in and of itself. Oshi No Ko's popularity is, for lack of a better word, more clean. It has an image to uphold that is incredibly different from Game of Thrones.
So all in all, yes, there is something to be said about "why would you, an American, assume this show from Japan, will have incest as its end goal relationship when it could lose so much public goodwill by doing so? Would you think the same for an American cartoon with the same plot and popularity?"
The context matters, both socially between the consumer and the origin of the consumed product, and within the media itself.
If an American Show made it a plot point that a guy's sister was attracted to him and interested in being in a relationship with them, then yes, I would treat it as a valid possibility that the show might end up with an incestuous pairing.
While Ruby does get more openly affectionate, it seems like it was narratively just a comedy bit and to mend the rift between the siblings that was caused. She never asks him out or even textually shows interest in a relationship with him, even if she does get clingy for a few chapters, no? I don't think that's necessarily enough to go, "this is a possibility" and not just "oh ruby still has lingering feelings about Goro specifically" especially while Aqua makes it very clear he is not interested in Ruby in the same way despite putting up with it in the least reciprocal way possible.
I hope this makes sense, it's 2 am for me rn.
Didn't she kiss him? My memory is not that good but I'm pretty sure that happened
(And it's two AM for me too)

my main takeaway from chapter 5 thus far
i cannot believe how fucking funny the talksprites are in this one i need to draw them right NOW
More color art for Shirabe Meshi that was posted on Take Comic's official twitter. I don't know if this is in the actual final chapter as of yet since I've been reading them once they're free and chapter 50 is currently behind a paywall
As a side note, volume 8 will release on July 16
Has anyone done this yet?
