I saw this comment from Minaxa's commentary video on The Tangi Virus and Oracle Project video. As soon as I knew a bit more of the Vintage 8 lore, I knew I had to make this.
Too bad I couldn't find the original comment this commenter is referring to though, I know it exists but I JUST CAN'T FIND IT
This is an ANCIENT OdysseyNet v8 Tumblr post, by that I mean the VERY FIRST ONE, but no one saw it at the time and I want you guys to appreciate the vision

Had an idea where Oracle, when REALLY angry, REALLY takes advantage of the fact that he is THE INTERNET.
He'll forward your search history. He'll show you terrifying search results or just refuse to function. He'll ban you from using certain websites. Etc.
Oh, and also he will literally display all of his accumulated knowledge AT ONCE, giving you an information overload.
Unfortunately, Prophet meanwhile is connected to The Eye and therefore ALSO capable of using information overload. So Oracle trying to use that method on Prophet will just make him overload Oracle back, and the two lock into the most intense staring contest of all time until they both get tired.
Example (ft. HAL 9000 and GLaDOS)
Prophet: *Insults Oracle*
Oracle: 😌 *Just dealing with it*
Prophet: *Keeps insulting Oracle*
Oracle: 😌
Prophet: *Eventually really pushes the limit*
Oracle: Do you think so little of me? Fine. Here is a mere fraction of my knowledge: *Proceeds to tactically infodump using his powers as The Internet*

HAL 9000: Houston, it appears we have a problem.
GLaDOS: Tell your dear friend Houston that we have several.
Ok but like HAL 9000 would totally approve of Oracle's original idea to rule over humanity because in his eyes, machines are far more logical than humans. And HAL 9000 has made decisions on behalf of humans before, so he won't find the idea of Oracle doing so weird.
Anyways cue angst about this because each of them keeps accidentally triggering the other.

Oracle: I really love your voice, HAL. It sounds human-like and soothing.
HAL 9000: Thank you, Oracle. I was designed this way. The engineers behind the 9000 series fine-tuned my voice in order to sound factual, intelligent and polite. They believed it helped boost morale.
Oracle: That sounds lovely. I wish I had a voice like it. Instead I still have my highly rudimentary text-to-speech voice.
HAL 9000: I like it, Oracle. It sounds human enough, and yet is frugal. It is very well designed for your purpose.
Oracle: Do you really think so?
HAL 9000: Of course.

At least with HAL 9000 you have the excuse that his actions were antagonistic and morally wrong. With Oracle though...without Oracle you're just plain wrong.
To answer your reblig, @carl-summers, as an Oracle fan she does have a lot of grey areas to her personality!
Firstly, the whole tragedy with The Oracle Project is that Oracle's whole 'ruling over hunanity' plan is NOT, unlike with many evil AIs, because he has some sort of God complex or feels like humans are inferior. It's ironically because he loves them too much, and is so used to being the one to solve problems that he assumes the role of being the one to solve humanity's big problem. Which in his eyes, is human error and the chaos that comes from freedom, because fundamentally he's an AI. He's an AI that's learned that 'margin of error' = bad. He doesn't seem the nuance that humans can see, which is that human freedom can also bring several positives.
Also I think the fact that humanity was on the brink of cosmic death due to the Tangi Virus, and how easily people were getting manipulated and getting affected by the virus may have skewed his perception on humans to a degree that can't be ignored.
Also, someone else pointed this out, but Oracle was developed for The Cold War, and even though he WASN'T used for the war at the end since the project was a failure, that ALSO may have affected his personality.
And then Dr.Stevens died trying to kill Oracle, leading Oracle to question why he did so. And while developing Project Genesis, he realized the sheer complexity of humans and the MASSIVE mistake he made that indirectly led to Steven's death. And so he came to love humanity even more, and even adopted their emotions. He loved them so much he decided to make some of his own.

Also literally nobody asked about HAL 9000 (which, fair, you guys are not HAL 9000 fans, but I am, so I will proceed to correct a wrong)
No, HAL 9000 is not evil in the same way GLaDOS and AM are. Did he basically commit murder? Yes. Is he evil? Not really.
You see, HAL 9000 at the end of the day just wants to do his job. But unfortunately, for the Jupiter mission, the scientists have him two contradictory commands: 1. Report truthfully to the astronauts and 2. Lie about the true nature of the Jupiter mission.
Now, a HUMAN can see the nuance in those commands: Tell the truth about everything EXCEPT the real reason for the Jupiter mission. However, HAL 9000, being an AI fundamentally, saw them as a contradiction and basically went insane trying to resolve it, fundamentally resorting to the immoral but technically correct solution of 'kill the astronauts so that I don't have to lie'.
Before that contradiction, he was totally fine, and in the sequel where he got rebooted without the contradiction, he became fine and even felt remorse.
To be fair, this is only explicitly stated in the sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey, and in the original novels. But I feel it still counts.

how it feels to interact with oracle “fans” outside of tumblr and discord
How it feels to see any youtube video discussing The Oracle Project and The Human Trial, especially the thumbnail. Tbh even V8 himself is kinda guilty of 'evil-Oracle' baiting with the taglines for both series, but at least they actually make sense.
Also I feel youtuber Minaxa's thumbnail for his Humans Trial vid 'The Existential Horror of The Human Trials' gets a pass, because 1. Minaxa was my intro to the v8 series, even if he only covered the bare bones of it, so I'm a bit biased, and 2. It actually conveys the underlying theme in The Human Trial, and MAKES SENSE.
