HE SEES HER clutching for dear life while the jumps occur, and he canât help but let out an amused laugh, especially at her comment. â Hey, Iâve survived 700 consecutive jumps once -- this is baby food for me. â Pause. â Donât recommend doinâ that tâ build a tolerance by the way. â
When they do get there at last, heâs scanning their new surroundings, the lights of the numerous signs casting reflections in his eyes. â Wow, â he comments as soon as he sees it. Casting a glance at her in the other seat, he says, â Yâknow, when you were describinâ it, I was almost expectinâ one of âem white, shiny mansions. With one of âem fancy pretentious gardens or somethinâ. â He turns back in his seat again, shaking his head. â Gave this guy too much credit, clearly. Heâs a bigger jerk-off than I thought. â
The pilot drifted through, following the directions that guided him to the entrance of the place. He spares her a glance as she explains precisely how their card works, listening intently. When she mentions that theyâre classified as âexclusive VIPs,â he goes, â Ohhh, I see. So weâre gettinâ in with some of the worst of the worst in that case. Gotcha. â
As he approached the gates, he appeared unfazed, even as said gates frighteningly opened and slammed shut like the awaiting maw of some beast. While not experiencing this precise thing exactly, heâs certainly dealt with ENOUGH to be able to say that heâs seen far more worrisome things. So while she was worried that something would somehow go wrong and theyâd wind up a bloody mess, he just sort ofâŠcasually slipped through without a hint of concern at all. The gates did precisely as they were intended to do -- that is, not crush them -- and he proceeded onwards.
Sometime shortly after that, they found themselves on that escalator, with Rocket taking an ever so brief moment to double check the schematic she provided him when they got to the back of the line -- and just as quickly put it away when his sensitive ears picked up the slightest sound of others approaching behind them to get in line as well. Despite how short his look was, he already had an inkling of how he could execute the plan required to get past security and reach that device. It is then that she grabs ahold of his hand -- an action which clearly takes him by surprise.
â Uh, â he attempts to protest at first, trying to flinch away at first. â Yaâ sure thatâs really necessary ? I mean, no offense, but Iâm not really-- â
Cutting him off was the sound of an ear-piercing ZZZAP ! which caused the procyonidâs fur to stand on end with wide eyes. If there was any shout from the poor soul that attempted to sneak in, it was cut off before they could make any sound. When he peered at the front of the line, he could spot the ash, which seemed to be quickly blown away by the contraption so as to not get all over the upcoming patrons.
He immediately grips her hand after seeing that. â Actually, this is fine, â he promptly decides. While he certainly wouldnât describe himself as NERVOUS -- again, heâs certainly been through far worse than this -- letâs just say that that violent display was enough to put in the slightest bit of humility in him. Though heâs MOCKED the villain that theyâre attempting to thwart, itâs at this point that he mentally acknowledges that this guy still ainât screwinâ around. Itâs a good reminder to have, quite frankly, that theyâd certainly have to be cautious lest they get themselves along with billions of other lives killed.
â Feel that, â he murmurs, just moments before they pass through the electric current -- which makes the procyonid pin back his ears, bracing himself as the static electricity briefly courses through him but ultimately does not burn either of them to a crisp. Even still, he shakes his head and twitches his ears, as though it agitated him. Thanks to all of those metal cybernetics, the brief contact with the electricity left him with a slight buzzing feeling, akin to the feeling one gets when a limb falls asleep. Morgane didnât need to know that though; he just shot her a smile, now that the two of them were officially IN, safe and sound.
â Weâll get tâ that later, though -- as you promised, â he jokingly reminds her. Now that theyâre homefree as far as entrance security goes, he slips his hand out of hers, taking a moment to smooth down his puffed up fur. â Gotta get through this scut first. â
