——— mia is present, for the most part. she meets people from the trip occasionally. reads the messages in the group chat once they reach a certain number but only because if she waits longer, she’ll have far too many to go through and it’s not like she’s all that interested in the first place. but in all her attendance, outside from the mandatory dinners, not once has she seen or hung out with alec. that’s why such an occasion of them being alone is worth a moment to recognize as she watches him sit on the opposite side. but she doesn’t dwell on it. she’s about to move her eyes somewhere else when he speaks. there is a soft sigh at the mere thought of how much energy she’ll exhaust just to answer. she feels entirely too tired – has been for a while. but as she readies herself to reply, a question comes her way which catches her off guard. ‘ i suppose? haven’t really paid attention to it if i’m honest. ’ hasn’t paid attention to much at all, is more like it. ‘ you don’t have to make small talk, ’ she lets him know.
Alec didn’t know what he was expecting really, he had spoken before his brain caught up with what he was saying and now the blond realized he may have made things even more awkward. “Mhm, it was raining earlier. I’m glad it stopped.”He said, nodding in acknowledgement at what she said next. Alec took that as a sign that Mia didn’t want to talk and stayed quiet. Picking up his phone, he texted Moon asking his friend what was taking him so long. Alec got distracted by replying to a few texts before he realized something. “I think this is the first time we’re talking since...” He stopped himself, biting down on his bottom lip in a nervous manner. “Sorry.” Alec said, looking down for a moment.
