peter startled back. terrified of knocking into alice, of sending the newborn careening towards the ground. with all of the babies suddenly surrounding him, he felt something like a bull in a china shop. a funny thought considering the size of his alter-animal-ego. “alice!” his lips barely moved, in an effort to replicate her quiet tone. eyebrows rising instead in emphasis. “and little longbottom!” he peered down at the tiny bundle, not having met the other order child recently born. but he had been in and out of st. mungo’s since lily went into labor. waiting nervously outside of the room while harry was born, bringing provisions and company afterwards. “i’ve just came from visiting little potter. if i come along with sirius, he’ll hog harry. how’s… did you really name him neville? wait should you be standing? let’s sit.” his eyes cast about for a chair, hands fluttering in the air not unlike a mother hen.
“hi, peter. it’s good to see you ! ” her expression lifts, softening as her gaze falls on him. she’s thankful it was someone she was already familiar with, even more so because of the chance to hear any news on the other baby down the hall. “i know what you mean. by some miracle i managed to slip in yesterday when everyone was gone and meet him. he’s absolutely adorable. is lily doing okay this morning ?” at that, her gaze shifts back to the child in her arms, adjusting the blankets tucked around him. the topic of name choice seems to a popular one, especially the one alice and frank gifted their own child with. “mhm, that’s his name. we wanted something a little... different. it’s not everyday you meet a neville, y’know.” at his next comment, she elicits a chuckle, head shaking. “i’m fine, really. wanted to stretch my legs a bit, actually. but if it would make you feel better...” she motions towards the bench at the end of the hall, feet already shuffling toward it, careful not to disturb neville. “you’re not in a hurry, are you ? i was going to ask if you wanted to hold him.” eyebrows raise slightly as she settles into the bench, smile playing on her lips.
