A bad day? Certainly not uncommon, Ozzy had to admit, amongst any of his classmates. Unfortunately, he wasn’t particularly good with words and didn’t always understand some things about conversations. But by God, he was going to try.

He could understand being underconfident, but he did actually care about the other boy. The only issue was actually getting Ted to realise that.

“No problem. You’d tell me if it was something more, right?” He hoped he was trustworthy enough to Ted - they probably held each other differently within the personal hierarchies but he still wanted to help. “I mean, bad day or not, I don’t like seeing people crying.”

He really was thankful that Ozzy was talking to him about this. It was that small gesture that showed he cared, and maybe that was all Ted needed at the moment. The knowledge that someone cared. Even if it was sort of extra effort wasted on him, but he was still glad about it anyway.

Would he tell him if it was something more? There was a bit of hesitation before Ted gave a small nod, “Of course I would, Ozzy–!” Should he tell him? Oh, he wanted to let it all out, but that would be burdening the other boy with his problems. He seemed so adamant on trying to get Ted to spill, however, so…

“…Okay, well, maybe there’s a little bit more to it than just a ‘bad day.’ More like several.” He began, “I’ve been kind of… worried lately. That maybe Felix and father are right. That I’ll never amount to anything, and I’ll be useless to them forever. ..Sorry, you can tell me to stop if I’m being too much.”

Ozzy wasn’t exactly a good listener, but he wasn’t a bad one either. He was decent enough at listening to people when he felt he needed to. And this was certainly a situation where he needed to listen. Even if any advice he gave was terrible, at least he could say he tried.

So that’s what he did. He listened to Ted’s explanation intently as to make sure he didn’t mishear or misunderstand anything. Ted... Really had some shit going on, huh? It really sounded like it was eating away at him - and who could blame the kid?

“You aren’t being too much, dude, don’t worry about it. I would’ve told you if you were,” he tried to joke, to lift the atmosphere even a little bit. “Really, don’t worry. I’ll listen.”

Well, he certainly had to think about those questions, regardless of whether he wanted to or not.

What did Ozzy think of Ted? Did he think he was irritating? He was more thinking about why he was being asked these kinds of things. They were all so… negative (the only exception being what Ted had said about his brother). There was something so obviously leading the questions - he just didn’t know it was. Ted felt kind of nervous waiting for an answer. But what reason did he have to be so nervous about it? It wasn’t like Ozzy would say anything really mean about him, would he? Nothing like Felix would say. Though, Ozzy was certainly more outspoken on his opinions than Ted ever could be, so he was pretty sure he could count on him to not lie to him or anything. Maybe hearing the truth would hurt, and that might be why he was scared.

Hearing the response, he looked back with a frown of his own. “…Oh. Okay, um. I guess you’re right.” The fact he didn’t stick up for himself and thought he was bad was irritating? He figured he could see Ozzy’s point there. Must be annoying seeing him so pathetic.

But he honestly didn’t know how to answer that last question. He looked down, “I just– I’m sorry. I don’t mean to be a downer. I guess I’m thinking about some dumb stuff lately. Never mind, then.”

Was it okay for Ozzy to ask any more questions? He’d technically gotten the answer he wanted, but he wasn’t sure if he was satisfied with it. Would Ted even want to talk about it? He could see there was something there, but...

Sure, he was more outspoken than some of the people he associated with. He had a knack for responding sarcastically when the need arose, or if he just couldn’t handle someone else. He had always been like that. Ozzy also knew Ted didn’t like to cause conflict if he could avoid it and that Felix often did the talking for both the Huxley twins.

“You know what? I won’t ask.” What else was he supposed to say? He wasn’t good with words of the complimentary kind. “I, uh... You got me watching your back, okay? I’m here for you.”

Contrary to what many people thought about Ozzy, he was caring and observant towards his friends - Ted was certainly no exception. Seeing anyone upset bothered him. He wanted to help, especially seeing as he could often be on the emotional side (according to others), so he figured mentioning that he could tell Ted had been crying was a good start.

Hell, if he wasn’t actually paying attention, Ozzy likely wouldn’t have noticed for quite a while. But how could he not notice this time? Why did Ted feel the need to apologise?

“Yeah, well… So what if you’re fine now? Why were you even crying in the first place?” He was going to get to the bottom of it.

Ted hadn’t really been under the impression that he and Ozzy were actually friends– As much as he would have liked for that to happen. He didn’t have friends, did he? Felix said it was better to have business associates, and who was he to argue with that? With his brother cutting Ted off from talking to most of their classmates, he didn’t quite feel he was worthy enough to call anyone a friend if he couldn’t do friend stuff with them most of the time.

But he had to admit that Ozzy certainly had a point, that it was probably a cause for concern since he had been crying in the first place. Ted didn’t know how to answer that though. He didn’t think his problems were worth talking about.

“I just… Umm…” He frowned, looking away as he spoke, “I don’t know. I guess I’m just having a bad day. But it’s– It’s not a big deal, really! Um. I really appreciate you asking though. That’s very nice of you.”

Listening to Carla’s whining… Sure, maybe he was overreacting a small amount. Carla always knew what she was doing, and she was damn good at getting it done with no consequences. He knew as well as anyone that Carla could handle herself and her contraband.

“I know I paid you but…” What reason did Ozzy actually have to doubt her expertise? “Just, please make sure you don’t get caught. I know you don’t get caught - I wanna make sure though!” There he was, explaining the same thing.

Did he ever shut up? Not when it came to the safety of his friends, he didn’t. “I trust you, though. Let me know if you get any trouble!”

CARLA pulls her lips together in an act of thought, furrowing her eyebrows at the others reply. Jeez, now she is wondering if Ozzy actually trusts her to do this right. She had not failed him before, right?

“You know I will, chavo,” Carla snorted, a small smile on her face, “if I do get into trouble – well, what can you do if I get in trouble ? Can Destructotron destroy Penny when she catches me ? “ A little joke.

“You don’t have to say it twice, you know? I heard you loud and clear.” He was alright. A friend, just maybe – certainly more familiar than the other students, of course.

Ozzy smiled somewhat sheepishly. He certainly was overreacting - but he supposed that was his area of expertise after all. He trusted Carla and that was all he really had to do on his end. He wasn’t the contraband specialist.

“I can always throw Destructotron at Penny. It’d probably do some good damage,” he suggested with a little laugh. There was nothing to say he was going to, or needed to, do such a thing, but the jokey offer was there should it be needed.

“I’m just making sure you know! We don’t need a blackout and you know it, Carla.”

He looked at the knife, and picked it up, there may have been a few loops where it hit, not like he’d say anything of the sort.

“You didn’t hit me. Do you wanna try again?”

He spun the knife in his hand for a second, going to circle Ozzy “You also have to make sure people don’t exactly fully, know you’re doing it Ozzy, you could’ve hit if you didn’t tell me you were gonna throw it. I may have stepped back for all you know”

With that, he quickly moves to try cutting Ozzy, he may or may not be purposefully avoiding enough so he’d likely only nick the kid, if he hit at all.

Ozzy frowned ever so slightly at how nonchalant Kid was acting after having a knife thrown at him, regardless of whether it hit or not. Surely that wasn’t normal.

Quite frankly, he didn’t want to try again, but Kid had began to talk before he said a word. Yeah, sure, maybe he shouldn’t announce ‘Oh hey, I’m gonna throw this at you now!’ just in case. He went to say something, but-

“H-hey, what gives?!” He snapped as he was attacked, stumbling slightly in an attempt to avoid the blade entirely. Not that it worked. “Geez, I swear you’re gonna end up killing me,” he complained with a huff.

Ozzy had a tendency to keep to himself, speaking to his classmates on the rare occasions he felt like taking a break from his solitude. Of course, he wasn’t stupid. He knew how his classmates acted - whether they were calm and collected or brash and uproarious.

He was sure he had heard the question incorrectly at first. Theodore… A bad person? The two seldom spoke (though it was often the other twin who dictated that) and yet Ozzy still found himself with a frown upon his face. Ted, a bad person. The two ideas just couldn’t connect within his mind. Sure, the two boys had their differences, but nothing major. At least, not to Ozzy’s knowledge.

“A bad person?” He fell silent for a few seconds to think about the words leaving his mouth. “No, you’re not a bad person. Felix is debatable. You? You don’t even like stepping on ants during recess.” Not that he himself was any different. But where on God’s green earth had Ted got the idea he was a bad person?

It was sort of a strange question, seemingly coming out of nowhere. And it wasn’t like the two of them were close, but they knew each other for a while by now, didn’t they? Ted just needed some sort of validation that maybe he wasn’t terrible. Although, he never stopped feeling as if he was, because why else would his own family hate him so much? Maybe asking Ozzy was kind of ironic, given that one plan Felix kept trying to push on him in the morning. But Ted wouldn’t go through with that, would he? He wasn’t a bad person, right?

Those words from Ozzy was all he really needed. He could see his point. Maybe Ozzy was right. But then again, that comment about his brother… He had the need to defend him. That came first before anything. “Well, I don’t think Felix is debatable. He can… be a nice guy sometimes. He’s not bad.”

And then he gave a bit of a nod, “But I guess you’re right with the other stuff. Thanks.” Ted smiled, diffident. Though something still seemed to be bothering him, and he asked, “…Are you sure there’s not anything bad about me? Or, well, irritating? Or something?” Anything at all?

“Cool, let’s go” Kid grinned a little bigger, quickly out the door he goes, he has a hall pass so he’s not going to acknowledge the hall monitors in the slightest, besides saying Ozzy was with him for something, into the front yard he brings the kid.

Once they’re outside, Kid just turns to look at Ozzy and spreads his arms out “I don’t have a knife of my own, no self defense, come at me.”

Kid has no plans except for looping the day until he can dodge the hits. Or until he can turn the knife on Ozzy somehow. He didn’t feel like killing him today though.

Ozzy was quick to follow Kid outside, his eyes glancing once again to the knife. This was as normal as normal could get, he supposed.

He looked at Kid and took a few steps back, trying to predict the best way to through the knife without hurting either of them. “Here goes nothing...!” He lifted his arm back and threw the knife as hard as he could.

Despite wanting to, he couldn’t close his eyes. He simply watched as the blade landed dangerously close to Kid’s foot. Okay - so far so good, right? He actually threw it! “Hey, that wasn’t so bad!”

To be fair, however – he meant well, despite everything. Being sent to the principal’s office was a punishment that was irreversible, and if she had to be honest, him freaking out about that was the one valid thing he has ever done ( she genuinely did not understand why he was freaking out over germs and routine, anyway ). He was a good customer, and, well, his Destructotron was pretty sweet, too.

“ Oh, come on, Ozzy! ” Carla whined, throwing her hands towards the floor, “ you paid me to bring that in – what else do I do other than sneak it in ? It should be fine, I’ve never been caught, anyway. ”
