"No, no, it’s okay, you just scared me a little. My friends aren’t that quiet, usually. Except for Nephthys, maybe, but she’s… different.“
That was an understatement. She was nothing less than an ancient Egyptian goddess, a goddess related to life and death with that, and even though she liked her a great deal, Lozea still felt somewhat ill at ease in her presence. Enyo was a goddess as well, but she was easier to get along with, despite her legendary fits of rage. The brunette was about to talk again, to tell him that he wasn’t a burden at all, but he had already turned around, leaving her huffing slightly and rolling her eyes in slight annoyance. Men, really, she thought as she shook her head.
Soon enough, though, he was back, and his question and the look on his face made her laugh wholeheartedly. It was adorable to see, really, and her hilarity woke Garrus from his slumber, making him meowl in vexation. So he was a cat lover, hm. That was a nice change from the werewolves.
"Of course you can. The one looking like a bobcat is Garrus, the other’s name is Shepard. If Garrus likes you, then you can be trusted. He’s rather… wary of strangers.
Even more since Louis had growled at him… Shaking her head, she went back to preparing dinner, at least for a good five minutes before she looked back at him with a hum.
"Do you even have somewhere to stay ? Because really, if you need a place to crash, you can stay here. I don’t mind at all.
Astraeus smiled as the other allowed him to play with her cats. Of course, he sounded like a child when he asked, but the fallen star couldn’t help but to do just that. Cats were adorable, after all, and even benevolent beings that resided above couldn’t resist their charm. He turned around, looking for where the animals could be found now. Earth was a dangerous place for him, yes, but while he’s here and given the opportunity to rest, he might as well take the chance to enjoy himself and do what he’s always wanted to ever since he’s seen the joys of humans and their companions.
“Garrus and Shepard.” The star repeated for the purpose of
keeping them in his memory. “I’ll try to be careful. I know
cats can be very defensive.”
The fallen star spotted both cats just off in the other room, laying down and relaxing amongst themselves. They looked adorable. Very peaceful. Enough so that it turned Astraeus away from wanting to play with them. The last thing he wanted was to disrupt the animals when they were just minding their own business. He could sympathize with that thought, considering that a meteor did just that to him by knocking him out of the sky while he did nothing but do as he has done for years on end.
“Oh… That’s actually what I’m trying to do now.” Astraeus
explained, “Get back to home. It’s… very far away from
where we are now. Which is why I really can’t stay. I’d need
to leave first thing tomorrow.”
While confiding in someone about his true origins might end up helping him in the future, Astraeus knew that he’d either look completely crazy or it would lead him into trouble. It was safer to just simply leave his identity as a secret.
“So what did you mean when you said you’ve seen weird
things happen here?” The fallen star asked, hoping to
change the subject and focus on him.
