“Natasha is in the team so I doubt she will rest until everyone is out.” He still couldn’t call her mother, after all those years, it didn’t seem right. He didn’t feel hers but he didn’t know if the feeling was mutual. He didn’t want to find out, it’d been months since he’d talked to her, he believed the last time was when she reappeared after that he hadn’t made contact. “Okay,” he muttered.
What had she found out? He wanted to know but he didn’t have the energy to do so. He didn’t feel himself and it wasn’t because of the programming. He hadn’t responded to her comment, not because he didn’t want to but because he didn’t feel like talking. Once again back to square one. Her next question caught her off guard causing him to furrow his brows. “I don’t watch much of anything.”
“Very true. Your mother is a hurricane in her own right.” She mused faintly, leaving it at that. If Emilia even attempted to bring up familial ties, it wouldn’t end well for either of them. And she didn’t want to. Escaping that for a while seemed nicer in comparison.
His reply caught her off guard, she’d forgotten that little fact. “--right, my bad. Well, I find it kind of addicting so uh---here” She reached for the remove, switching on the screen across the room and queueing up the first episode. At least it was something else to think about. “it’s about this lawyer and her team of students who...actually showing you seems easier.” Pressing play, she curled up into the chair, resting her chin on her knees.
The accent was something he worked on hiding, not very well but well enough to forget about the past. While he was reversed, nothing felt right anymore. He had been taken out of the school to be monitored for everyone’s safety and now—- what if? He was tempted to walk away from the common room knowing talking to her would eventually lead to talks of emotion but he stayed. He walked towards her, sluggish yet uniform. He needed to get them out of his head. He placed his bag on the floor taking a seat next to her. “Anything could change in a second, Emilia.” He kept his gaze low, not wanting to look at her. She was always sad, he didn’t like when she was sad. “Nothing to be sorry about.”
“Maybe, but i’m choosing to believe in those teams. To believe that your sister--and mine, they won’t just lay down easy. They’re fighters. Trust me, just this once.” Her voice was soft, tempted to reach out and place her hand over his.
His words had her tilting her head, disagreeing but not quite willing to start an argument over it. “if you say so. I know things now I didn’t before so, it felt needed.” The silence overtook them, and she wished he’d look at her, tell her even with his eyes that he was still somewhere in there. A change of subject maybe? “---have you ever seen How to Get Away with Murder?” Her voice was quiet, wincing as she knew it was one of the oddest things she could have said. But focusing on the almost deaths of their families was morbid, far too real.
He wasn’t there. She needed him and he wasn’t there. She had communicated with him and yet he wasn’t there to respond. Now, nothing. Silence. It left his nerves on edge and he went awful. He was back to being the emotionless man he began with. His sister taken once again, he didn’t know if he’d get her back but the part of him that learned to be human hoped she would. He couldn’t go back to his room knowing that her room was only a couple of steps away. So bags in hand he went into one of the common room to clear his head, which probably wouldn’t help. The tall man entered the room, head looking at the ground not focusing on much of the world around him. Senses alert yet he went completely alone without her. His gaze rose as he spotted the only other person who could make him feel better. “I’ve been better,” he said, not even attempting to hide his accent.
She winced at his voice, for it was something she’d rarely heard from him. Emilia didn’t want to think about what that meant. He looked somewhat--lost, and it hurt her a bit to see. Though she guessed they were all hurting right now. Bringing her knees to her chest, she gestured to the couch next to her if he wanted to set his things down for a moment. “they’re bringing her back, you know. Reports come in every 15 minutes. They’re all alive. She---she’s okay Alek.”
Emilia hoped her words had a bit of impact, hoped he would hear and understand through the deafening silence that was probably clouding his head. “i’m sorry..for everything.” The last time they’d spoken felt like a lifetime ago, full of things she hadn’t even known yet..it all seemed so different now.
{{ @secondasset }} The week had been hectic, to say the least. After what felt like a lifetime of tense days, there was news of the location of her sister. A sister she had barely gotten a chance to KNOW Emilia felt her chest loosen just the tiniest bit, the weight of the past few days leaving her drained mentally and physically. Her dad was still--somewhere, she had no clue. Maybe it was better she didn’t know. Did he even know about Drew? That was yet to be determined. But she knew Daisy, and with all the people leaving she knew Drew would be home in no time.
A sound pulled her from her thoughts, having been curled up in a chair in the corner of one of the common rooms. Oh----he was here. Emilia hadn’t seen Alek in quite some days, but knew with the disappearance of his sister he’d show up. And here he was. He looked--well he looked like they all did. Trying to put up a front to hide the fact his sister was gone.
“---hi.” she offered softly, sending him the slightest of smiles from where she sat. “You ok?”
He watched her as she tried to solve her riddle. Giving her a small smile when she told him her name, “I’m Ellis. -Ellis Nygma.” He said, adjusting his glasses. “You know, just in case you wanted to know.” He wasn’t very great with communication, but he hoped offering her a dorky smile would help her forgive him. “You have a very lovely voice, Miss Emilia.”
“I do want to know, means don’t have to find some awkward way to ask once I’ve realized I forgot.” She admitted, laughing. “Thank you, sweet of you to say. I don’t think i’ve seen you around? Then again i’m not big on socializing much so..”

“These bastards have taken two of my sisters….Just out of curiosity, just how calm am I expected to be? If I’m honest, I’m finding it hard to not smash everything around me in a rage.”
“I know---being told to stay calm is literally THE shittiest feeling” She admitted with a sigh. It’s what Emilia had been told when her sister had been taken last time, or when the school was about to blow..Aeterno had a lot of shit, it seemed. “Breaking things won’t help, I don’t think. But you’re welcome to try”
“I know, I know. And the TA said not to worry though, but still..” Audrey shrugged and smiled nervously. “Kinda? I was trying to get better at moving bigger masses, but I think I made the ball too big so I lost control.”
“I mean, it happens. I wouldn’t know too much about that, the whole moving earth is a Johnson thing. But no harm no foul?”
“cinnamon toast? okay now i wanna know how that tastes but like you said—— “ he smiled back at her. “i’ll just have to take you word on this one”
She glanced around, no teachers in sight. “Well...I do have a bottle back in my room if you wanted to try it?”
“What’s one thing that you own and yet other’s use it more then you?” He didn’t usually try and start a conversation right off the bat like this, especially not with a riddle but he couldn’t really help the impulse sometimes. He grew up solving riddles and puzzles.
“-Your name. That’s the answer. Uhm… What’s your name?”
She’d been caught off guard by the riddle, mind instantly buzzing to attempt to solve it. So much so, she almost missed the answer as well as his question. “--OH, that actually makes a lot of sense. And it’s Emilia. My name, that is.”
“hey- are you up to grab coffee with me? I’m literally so exhausted that I’m kinda concerned I’ll pass out on the way if I don’t take someone with me.”
Emilia had just returned to campus, exhausted from what she’d been up to but she could never say no to Stella. “Of course. Give me a sec to change into clean clothes and i’m all yours, yeah?”
“Please, it you could. Just tare the shirt further so I can remove it? I can’t even begin to explain to you how many shirts my wings have ruined.” He was having such a bad day. On days like these he could use all the help he could get.
The girl just nodded, stepping forward and around to his back. Her fingers hovered over his wings, more than a little tempted to touch them, but she withheld. It was rude, and he’d asked for her help. So with quick, nimble fingers she untwisted the fabric of his shirt and ripped as he asked, until it could be pulled away with ease. “There. Should be good now, I think ?”
“marshmallow vodka actually tastes great i swear. i even tried some.”
She grinned, deciding to trust his judgement. “I’ve tried the one that tastes like cinnamon toast and that was nice, so i’ll have to just take your word on this one”
“I maybe, sorta, kinda put a hole in one of the training room walls this morning.” Audrey squeaked, face bright red with embarrassment.
“JESUS, Audrey !! ” Emilia laughed softly, more amused than anything. “Well I guess that’s what they’re for. Why, though? Distracted?”
