It was not often that people of Chaldea spoke towards him with delight. Most had approached him with the intention to mock him and the life he had led, enforcing their opinions and their ideals towards him. It made staying within the halls of Chaldea unpleasant, but as the Watcher of humanity, he cannot simply send himself back to the Throne. In spite of their disrespect and lack of understanding what role a King must shoulder and bear, he will remain and make certain that humanity does not go extinct. With great interest, the King of Heroes took the woman’s statements into mind. Though silver is her tongue, he could sense that she’s genuine with her words. After all, there is nothing to gain in shoving falsehoods towards the demigod of Uruk.
“Men mostly speak such with ill intentions, especially in the face of a woman so grand. Even so, the lady is deserving of fine words.” He would appreciate her beauty at a later time, merely considering this as a professional approach on her part. He has yet to ponder her needs and what made her consider herself deserving to be before him. Still, the company had not been unwanted. If it was someone else, a person who is bland and lacking interesting traits, he will simply shove them aside in favor of doing something more productive. The Uruk King summoned a golden goblet before the woman, urging her to take it. In the same manner, a container filled with rich wine came to view and poured some into the goblet. It is only a drink worthy of the gods, but he will allow her to have a taste of it.
“I hope you are a woman who partakes. Otherwise, it will be such a waste.” Gilgamesh took a gentle sip upon his own cup, regal and graceful in every manner. Though it is said that he lacks kingly temperament in comparison to his other counterparts, the king in him can still not be dismissed. “As you know, today’s people do not consider my deeds heroic or worth applauding. I cannot blame them however.”
She had no reason to speak towards him in a negative manner, after all he was a king whose life she did not know on a personal level. He lived long before the Arthurian legend, a different time and culture- different laws and beliefs. To judge someone based on a completely different way of life that preceded her own life, would seem rather rude. There was no reason to force her beliefs on him, she had lived her life without regrets. Be it correct or not, she had lived it.
Granted, she rarely spoke to others within Chaldea as she was not as famous as many others. It was not uncommon for her to be looked over, which frankly was also fine. It offered her peace and an ability to relax and speak to those who wished to seek her out. Though she would admit, she had disliked her king- a coward, with no backbone. She had been granted no trial, there was no evidence to the accusations and...frankly, the upper class could be very selfish. So could the poor, anyone could be however it was sadly a fact the poor had not the power to follow desire. Not in her day anyway.
“Men can wield a silver tongue, this is true, often with ill intent. I must admit, women can be sly and devious as well. Especially in the face of men with power, such as yourself. A shame, that many are not honest.” Or, perhaps she was simply too honest. Sir Owain did state often she was ahead of her time, an amusing thought. It was true, she assisted him in his escape and spent many years with the knight. Perhaps, something a woman would never do, assist a knight in escape let alone know how to sneak past castle guards. Still, she was being professional and rather curious about a foreign king. Although she did not consider herself worthy to be before a king, she ranked up to a powerful status during her life...but she was born a peasant. Many of the upper class men felt threatened by that. Even so, she presumed if he did not wish for her to remain, he would simply order her to leave.
Noting the golden goblet he brought forth, she was surprised. Yet, instantly she realised he was urging her to take it- which she politely did just that. And she held it like a perfect lady was, noting the wine being poured forth. He, truly did match his legend, a golden king. Just as she knew it was a large compliment, to drink with a king, my her father would be in utter shock. It had been strange enough alive, being around a knight who favoured her so highly, like a perfect woman.
“I am a woman who partakes, though I did not often alive for we could not afford such. I did partake with Sir Owain on occasion, knights did so love to drink.” Wine or beer, mostly. “I thank you most kindly for the offer, I can only imagine how rare a gift this is.” Her smile was genuine, it truly felt like a genuine gesture she was unsure if she was worthy of it. Taking a small sip herself, gracefully and ladylike, poised. Her expression was happy and shocked...it was, an amazing taste. “I am aware, I myself have odd debates about my existence.”
Some stating she was better for Sir Owain than her mistress, others saying she was innocent some said she was not. “You did much worth applauding, I am sure your actions are questionable by modern day morality- that is something many of the spirits discover.” A slight giggle, it was...interesting, how morality changed. “How did you yourself view your rule? If you viewed it as just, then that is the important factor.”
