mallory hawke backstory edit

mallory was abandoned when she was four years old. her family did not want to deal with a mage child, and did not want to call attention to their family by having templars in their home. so they packed their things, told mallory to go play, and left everything behind.

the hawkes found her shortly thereafter, a small child wandering around, she’s lucky templars didn’t get her. she is four, she is convinced her family is coming home any time now, and throws a fit when the hawkes try to leave with her.

as she grows, she learns magic from malcolm, learns to control it and herself. she is idealistic. if even one person can see that mages are not bad, wouldn’t that help them from needing to hide? but she cannot share her gift with anyone but her new family.

she struggles to find her place in the hawkes. is she a sister? is she a burden? is she something worse?

mallory tries to run away at five, six, seven years old. convinced her family is looking for her. convinced the hawkes don’t actually want her. convinced she’s doing the right thing, and always feeling guilty for how leandra hugs her tight after.
