As the impending heat death of the internet, our library of alexandria, inches ever closer, here are some resources that will teach you everything you need to know about digital archiving.

Digital preservation is the only process that can and will preserve everything you love that (currently) only exists in the digital realm. It’s not 100% guaranteed to work, but let’s be real—your own painstakingly, personally, manually cultivated digital archive is all you’ll have left of the images, blogs, recipes, videos, fics, fanzines, games, servers, forums, articles, peer-reviewed scientific studies, “illegal” musicals and even the friends you found online, when the internet is completely gone.

And yes, you can trust me on this, because I've had to help family friends create a personal digital archive of their own. She chose to pay for archiving software in the end, but that's not important.

I finished my blorbos. I wanted to make a Classic inspired piece of art.

Some process shots. I changed Lokis expression very quickly in to give him that devilish grin. Meanwhile, Cu Chulainn is just like head empty confusions 🍄

I think the artists on Twitter are doing an excellent job creating art for the theme picked by Ana and Ena. Hopefully the artshow will be very well coordinated.

In other news, after meditating on the my worries about being a SMITE fanartist, I've decided to embrace my masochism and apply for SMITE partnership if I reach 800 followers on Twitter. That way, I will give out prizes to artists for making fanart or giving cool ideas. We'll see. I'm feeling better.

So I played smite today...

I got told I play the game poorly bc I'm a woman, and got a nice friend where he and I have try and speak each other's languages very poorly to communicate.

10/10 classic smite.

I feel so guilty about feeling like wanting to leave the smite community. I feel like I need to resettle my inhibitions and anxieties- back into a level of humility.

I think honestly what caused this whole domino game of worry was discovering the original artist collaboration AND Smite-Club in the same day.

Their numbers were so much more than ours, well over 70 artists drew every god in SMITE, and it made me realize how futile our current effort to have our piece as a loading screen or anything- ugh!

Even SMITE-Club, which ran before the official release, SHUT DOWN in 2017. ENA AND ZENNORE RAN IT and it failed.

Just give me like two days and I'll be fine. Up to my old,, pathetic ways. In the mean time, I've been reading about Norse Mythology, thinking about writing a story.

I've been thinking a lot about this and what you've been saying about the burn out you and many of us have been feeling.

I think the relationship between Hirez and the artists have been really really rocky. Maybe it was better before 2016 when I joined. Skin designs in contests get put into the game, yet sometimes they will "yoink" designs from the community anyway.

They shut down red bubble and Etsy listings having to do with SMITE, yet later opened up community - sourced merch store.

My feelings on Hirez, Smite and smite art in of itself have been changing and have become scrambled eggs. even before the pandemic, those eggs have been sitting and burning on the stove two years in.

I don't know what the "answer" is but I think it's good to discuss.

All I do know is that Hirez is first and foremost a company. A business. It's not really our job to maintain/repair the relationship they have with their art community. They pay attention when they want to.

In my absolute personal opinion, I think we should Heimdallr-yeet hirez out of the picture. (That doesn't mean stop participating in contests and community stuff!! Not at all! Get your talent out there and recognized if that's what you want!) That means if they want artists they already know where to look. We can (and should) have our space where we can draw these characters and not have to think about "would this work for the game?"

From now on if I keep drawing smite, I'm not drawing a damn thing FOR Hirez, it's not FOR them. It's for myself and for people who just happen to like what I draw.
