“Hey Takashi… Since it’s the last day before thanksgiving break I thought we might go out for a nice dinner?” Adam suggests, turning to look at Shiro.
@official-priest-shiro
Shiro hummed in thought. “Yeah, that would be nice.” He chuckled nervously. “A nice dinner for just the two of us before I stress about impressing your family.”
“Yeah, “he laughs, ” they’re pretty easy to impress though.“
“Sure, you can say that.” Shiro teases lightly. “But they have to love you.” He winks playfully.
Adam feels for the tiny box in his pocket before grabbing his coat, “well should we go?”
“Yeah.” Shiro grins, following suit. “Where did you have in mind?”
“How about… that fancy italian place in town?” Adam suggests.
Shiro looks to his own attire and then back to Adam. “The one that makes me feel completely under dressed?” He bubbled a laugh. “Sure. Craving Italian?”
“I mean if you have a better idea? I just uh… would prefer something a little nicer tonight,” He rubs his neck.
Shiro’s brow furrowed. “What? No.” He chuckled lightly, nervously. “I love Italian, Adam.” Shiro stepoed closer, smiling gently up at Adam. “Besides, what’s nicer than Italian?”
Shiro places a kiss on his cheek, “well ready to go?”
Shiro smiles at Adam. “Yeah, let’s go.” He grabbed Adam’s hand, intertwining his fingers with his own.
Adam smiles and leads Shiro to the car before getting into the passenger seat.
Shiro gets in, buckling before he starts the car. He fiddles with the mirror and radio before he gets on the road.
Adam smiles, watching shiro for a second. After a bit they arrived at the restaurant, Adam helping Shiro out of the car
Chuckling softly, Shiro smiles at Adam. “What a gentleman.” He teases.
“Well of course, ” he grins as he leads them to the door, asking for a table as the hostess leads them to one.
“I sure do know how to pick them.” Shiro teased slightly. “This place always feels fancier than the shoes I own.”
“Well my family doesn’t really… Cook a lot. So I figured before you spend a week with them you should get something nice, ” Adam says as they sit down
“Raw food is a delicacy in some cultures.” Shiro smiles reassuringly. “As nervous as I am, I’m excited for it.” He says soft and earnestly. “But thanks for this anyway.” Laughing, Shiro’s smile widens.
Adam fiddles with the tiny box under the table… Maybe he should leave it till the end? It might ruin the dinner if Shiro says no… Or at least make things awkward. He smiles, “they’ll love you. I know it.”
Shiro smiles anxiously. “I hope so.” He breathes. “I’d like for that.” Feelings of uncertainty build up in his gut. Perhaps it’s the fear of his own family’s possible reaction to Adam, and his wanting for something. He’d felt so disconnected from anyone except the people he had met at college, and he’d missed having a family. He’d like for Adam’s family to help fill that void, or even possibly to dig their own trench in his heart and expand it.
Adam puts the ring back in his pocket with a soft frown, placing his hand on Shiro’s, “Takashi. Just worry about now okay. Everything else will come as it does. But right now its just you and me.”
Shiro intertwines his fingers with Adam’s. “I know.” He says softly. “After all, at the end I’ll still have you, won’t I?”
“Of course you do, ” he smiles
Grinning, Shiro squeezes Adam’s hand in his own. “I love you, Adam.” He says softly. “Thank you.”
“I love you too Takashi, ” he says softly. After a bit the waitress comes to take their order
After placing their order, they proceed to make small talk. Laughing gently and smiling dearly. Shiro hides his smile with his hand. “If you told me five years ago that I’d be here, I would never have believed you.”
“Neither would I, ” he laughs, “you know I can’t wait to meet your family some day…”
Shiro gives a half-chuckle and a half-sigh. “I want you to meet them too. I really do.” He says earnestly. “I think Keith will love you.”
Adam gives a bright smile, “yeah… I hope so. Maybe some day.”
Shiro tries to smile brightly, and although his eyes shine in earnest the corners of his lips don’t tuck upward like they usually do. “Someday soon. I promise.”
The ring feels heavy in adam’s pocket as they finish their dinner, he just had to toughen up and do it, “so uh want desert?”
Humming in thought, Shiro reaches over to take Adam’s hand again. “Fancy resteraunt means fancy dessert, right?” He teases lightly. “Don’t think you can cheat me out of their special cake.”
He laughs, Shiro’s touch releasing all the fear he’d had, “why don’t we share it, ” he grins
“Good.” He chuckles. “I won’t be able to eat it all.” Shiro smiles brightly as he squeezes Adam’s hand once.
Adam orders it, once it comes he grins and tries it, “heaven on a plate oh my Goooood, ” he moans slightly as he takes a bite
Shiro flushes at the moan but can’t find himself disagreeing with the sentiment. “This is the best cake ever.” He swears. “No matter where we go, we have to come back here.”
“Takashi I uh…” Adam flusters as he finishes the cake, “I want to do this with you all the time. I want to meet your family and your brother and do all this stuff with you and I- will you marry me?” He pulls out the little black box, opening it
Shiro sends up a silent prayer that he was done eating or else he would have choked. His eyes widen by a fraction as he silently gapes at Adam. His jaw makes aborted movements at speaking. Eyes darting from the ring, and then to Adam’s face, Shiro laughs breathlessly.
“Adam.” He whispers as his eyes begin to water. “Yes.” The answer finally comes in a shaky exhale. “Yes, I want to marry you.”
Adam’s own eyes start to water as gives a big smile and takes shiro’s hand, “Takashi I love you so much… And I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
“Good.” Shiro gives a wet chuckle. “Because now you’re never getting rid of me.”
Adam kisses him, holding his cheeks as he closes his eyes. After a minute he pulls away, “This is the best moment of my life.” He says softly
“Hey,” Shiro whispers, “it’s the best moment of our life.”
Adam smiles, “yeah… Yeah it is.”
Shiro chuckles. “So now your true intentions for going out somewhere nice are revealed.” He teases.
“What! It was a good idea,” he mutters, “and now e can tell my family about our engagement!”
With cheeks pleasantly flushed, Shiro tightens his grip on Adam’s hand. “It was a good idea.” He beams. “And yeah, you get to introduce me as your fiancé.” He says the word with reverence.
“I can’t wait,” he grins, “There’s no one else id rather do this with, ” he says softly
“I hope not.” Shiro gives a light chuckle. “There’s no one I’d rather be here with than you.”
“We should get back to campus before it gets too late,” he chuckles
Shiro nods. “Yeah, probably.” He raises an eyebrow. “How long have you been planning this?”
“A while,” he rubs his neck with a chuckle
Shiro flushes with a bright smile. “Well, hopefully it was just like you imagined it.” He says bashfully.
"Better...." he nods
