EGO DEATH AT A BACHELORETTE PARTY | vinyl scans
in the pale moonlight I stand lone and bloodied. I look sick as fuck and you wish you were me
You already know the story. You will die. Everyone you love will also die. You will lose them forever. You will be sad and angry. You will weep. You will bargain. You will make demands. You will beg. You will pray. It will make no difference. Nothing you can do will bring them back. You know this. Your knowing changes nothing. This poem will make you understand this unfathomable truth again and again, as if for the very first time.

the little black fish (ماهی سیاه کوچولو (1967 illustrated by farshid mesghali
this is getting a lil attention so i'd like to add some context. the little black fish was written by samad behrangi, a marxist writer and educator. the book was published during the shah's rule in 1967 and was subsequently banned. the story is inspired by behrangi's leftist ideology, following a fish who questions the world around them. it's a story about questioning authority and self determination that is famous to this day among persian speakers.
the block print illustrations done by farshid mesghali won the hans christen andersen award. mesghali has illustrated several picture books and is a source of inspiration for many iranian illustrators today.
you can read an english translation of the story here
