Hostile reminder that the man with autism was also black and the intersection of intersection of ableism and anti blackness has made it impossible not only for black people with mental illness to seek treatment, but for them and their family members to constantly worry that with their chances of police interaction doubled, they might not make it home on any given day. have u ever tried making smart investments when you’re living paycheck to paycheck lmao… have you ever tried starting a savings account when you have $8 in your checking account and that’s supposed to feed you for the next two weeks… have you ever considered that poor people don’t need to be told to budget or prioritize because that’s literally all they do and every tiny purchase requires major thought and consideration and careful planning… have you ever considered that people who tell poor people to prioritize and budget are literally Rude and understand nothing about how much work and effort goes into being poor… have you ever considered that poor people hear this advice all the damn time and it does not help and it is the wrong thing to say to someone who is unsure if they are going to be able to eat or not… did u know normally poor people don’t have trouble prioritizing and aren’t “accidentally” buying expensive clothes with grocery money or whatever, they just literally don’t have the money to spend… it’s not great advice it doesn’t help poor people and no poor person alive needs to hear it

And Imma tell you something. You wanna talk about “budgeting” n shit… Ask me how I ended up having to work a week in the hole, after not having any hours for damn near 2 months, had literally $5 to my name THATS IT until NEXT THURSDAY… Being broke requires a lot of fucking thought. I could’ve spent my last $5 on some fast food but you know how I’ve been living? (Borderline starving) I went to the store and bought a jar of peanut butter and the cheapest loaf of wheat bread I could find. PEANUT BUTTER SAMMICHES AND WATER. Don’t talk to me about “budgeting” EVER if you’ve never had to stretch $5 over the span of 10 days.

Not to mention that in order to open a savings account IN THE FIRST FUCKING PLACE, most big banks will require a $200 deposit AT THE VERY LEAST. And it costs money to maintain both a checking and savings account at a bank if you can’t keep your daily balance at a certain level so like…why do people who literally have money and have cushy little lives not shut the fuck up???

I have a savings account. Last year, I made a grand total of… $1.09 in interest. Whoohoo. I have pretty much exactly the same amount of money in there as I had five years ago.

A savings account is pretty much useless unless you’ve got a fantastic interest rate (which you only get if you’re rich), or you take the money out and use it to purchase stock (which offers a higher rate of interest, but leaves you to the mercy of the stock markets. Who can afford to do that? Rich people).

I’m seriously demanding more soft bellies on girls in popular media. More celebrities with soft bellies and thick thighs and chubby faces and bums that are big, but they’re not round and perky. More fat arms, more fat calves. Double chins that are beautiful. More “you are beautiful” and less “you are comic relief”. Give me more unapologetic women and girls who own their chubby bodies, but also give me representation on how much of a struggle it can be to accept yourself when you don’t WANT to be thin. Give me fat girls as love interests, give me fat girls who are superheroes, give me fat girls who are loved and their body isn’t a joke to anyone, even themselves.
