Selina rolled her eyes. “All work and no play makes Victor a very dull boy,” she said loftily. “Besides, you should just trust me. I have not led you astray yet, but you’re still so apprehensive all the time. Don’t be, darling, I’m much smarter than you give me credit for. I’m much smarter than any man gives me credit for.” She gestured vaguely at him. “I’m like the royalty of these streets, all of you should be bowing down to me, anyway.”

“Very funny.” Victor sighs. “You know why I work so much, Selina.” Victor has so much he needs to do, so much work and progress to be made, but he follows along with Selina anyway, trusting that what she’s doing is for a reason of some sort. “I’m not apprehensive, Selina - I just know time isn’t on our side. I don’t doubt you in the slightest.” The truth is, Victor doesn’t know why she bothers with him. He’s not the type of person who normally catches the eye of anyone like Selina, and he can’t help but wonder why she bothers with him. “I don’t think I am one for bowing. Are you going to share this plan of fun with me?”

Selina rolled her eyes. “Yes, surprise, I find you at least a little bit interesting,” she replied. She raised a hand and wiggled a finger at him. “A lead on some fun.” She clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth, shaking her head. “Half the fun is the look on your face when you figure out what it is. It usually ends up being a mix of this—” she made one outlandish expression. “—And this,” she finished, making another outlandish expression. She relaxed her features, tossing her jacket over her shoulders and starting to walk down the street, expecting Victor to just follow.

Victor isn’t sure just why she bothers with him this way, but he simply shrugs his shoulders at her words. She’s not here for an argument, clearly, and especially not about something like this. “Selina - fun? Really? You know how much work I have to do..” Still, he reluctantly follows her. When Selina mentions fun, it’s usually around a job of some kind, and Victor could certainly use the resources. “I am not sure how I feel about you making fun of my facial expressions.” He responds, though he can’t help but let out a small chuckle at her ridiculous expressions. He glances back towards his home for a moment before following Selina down the street. “What’s this ‘fun’ you mentioned?”

Selina held out the bags. “Because you never take care of yourself and I want to make sure you’re eating. It’s all frozen, by the way, because everything would freeze in that igloo you live in anyway.” She shrugged. “Also, I like you, and I can’t say that about anyone else these days, so really, you should be feeling pretty honored right about now.” She shook the bags at him. “Come on, take them, then come with me. I have a lead on something that you might like.” She smiled crookedly. “It’ll be fun,” she added in a sing-song. Selina had a soft spot for the other people like her in the city—people who were just a little bit more crazy than the normal amount, people who had nightly proclivities that may not have been the most savory activities but were way more thrilling than anything else they could even imagine.

Victor raises an eyebrow at her words, though he doesn’t deny them. He could, but there’s really no point to it. He knows that he tends to get carried away, caught up in tests and experiments and Nora.. Nora, his dearest, stuck in ice until he can find a way out for her. “Thank you, Selina.. that’s kind of you.” He answers simply, still surprised by her actions, but glad. He’s not quite used to.. friends people who care for him. Still, he takes the bags, a slight frown on his face. “You like me? That’s.. surprising.” He knows better than to bother asking why - it may not even be true, but for now he doesn’t want to bother thinking about that. “A lead? On what exactly? Selina - you know the work I do.” He considers it for a moment, though - spending the night alone in his home, or doing something that potentially could help him. “Alright, hold on.” He sighs, turning to step back into his home long enough to set the bags down before stepping outside, locking the door securely behind him. “Are you going to tell me what this lead is before we get there this time?”

“What’s it for?” Dinah asked rather bluntly with a shrug of her shoulders. She wasn’t going to lie— she was staring. Now that she got his attention, she might as well ask.

Victor cannot help but roll his eyes at the woman’s question. As if he would be foolish enough to simply tell someone something that could put him at such a disadvantage. “Necessity. That’s all you need to know.”

Selina was standing outside of Victor’s home—because, obviously, it was far too cold inside for her to even think about going in there, especially in the slip she was wearing after spending some time at a seedy bar earlier that evening pressing douchebags for information and pickpocketing their wallets. “Victor!” she yelled. “Come on, Doc, I brought you groceries,” she added, crinkling the paper bags between her hands. “I don’t have the clothes for your house, Doc, you gotta do something about that part,” she added. At this point, it was becoming clear that she was a little bit drunk—but she wasn’t letting that hold her back. “I’ll keep yelling out here until you come outside!”

Victor isn’t expecting visitors. He never does. His home is set for his survival - sub-zero temperatures. It’s impossible for others to manage in there for much longer than few minutes, if they are not prepared - and people usually are not. Not that he has an abundance of people who would visit him anyway. So it takes him by surprise when he hears someone yell his name from outside - a familiar voice, though he can’t imagine exactly what they’re doing here. He can’t help but frown as he approaches the window, opening it carefully, careful not to lean out too far. “Selina?” He yells out to her, confused. “What - why would you bring me groceries? I don’t understand -” He sighs and shakes his head. “Hold on a moment, I will be out in a minute.” Closing the window, Victor steps back inside and heads over to his suit. It takes him a few minutes but he manages to suit up with relative ease before heading outside to see the woman. “Explain to me why you brought me.. groceries?”

HIS GAZE NARROWS watching these fingers tightening on the freeze gun. He expected this to go about the way it always does. He approaches Victor by a few steps. “The only one that likes the cold this much is you. Someone could get hurt here.” 

Victor is not in the mood to deal with Batman of all people this evening. He has a job to do, resources he needs in order to continue his research. Nothing can get in his way - this is for Nora. As Batman moves he raises his gun, pointing it at the man’s feet. “You can choose not to move any further, or I will make sure you cannot move. You are not going to stop me this time.”

“YOU AREN’T SUPPOSED TO BE HERE.” Bruce says firmly, his body turning around as he hears the other approaching. He crosses this arms over his chest, straightening out his posture as he looms over them.

“Oh goodness, I’m shaking in my boots.” Victor spits in response, tightening his grip on his freeze gun. Just seeing Batman again lights a certain rage in his heart. Perhaps today he can finally achieve some of the revenge he’s been hoping for. “Stay out of my way, Batman, or things will become very cold very quickly.”

Hello all! I’m Mel and I’m bringing in everyone’s (no one’s) favourite Victor Fries.

A bit of background; Victor’s always been on his own, he’s not very good with people and he’s always had a fascination with freezing things. His parents - mostly his father - thought he was a freak for his behaviour and very much believed that he could beat it out of Victor, only to end up shipping him off to a horrible boarding school to let them continue the job. He didn’t have any friends, he was quite alone through school and college - until he met Nora. They fell in love and married quickly, and everything was wonderful for the first time in his life until Nora fell ill. Victor spiralled, desperate to find her a cure only to realise he didn’t have enough time, so instead he put her into cryostasis to save her and give himself more time to find a cure. Unfortunately the company he worked for didn’t approve of any of this and tried to undo his work, at which point Victor was doused in a lot of the freezing chemicals he’d created and was presumed dead.

He’s only just put Nora into cryostasis and been through the horrible accident which has left his body unable to cope in anything warmer than sub-zero temperatures. He has Nora safe and frozen, and he’s still desperate to find a cure - but tests cost money, so he’s reduced to stealing so he can afford what he needs, as well as afford to maintain his freezing home and the suit that keeps him alive when he’s outside.

Emotionally he’s in a really awful place, most of the time he’s quiet and subdued but his temper is quick to rise and he will snap at anyone at any given stage if you provoke him. He’s not a fully fledged villain just yet - he’s still young, still full of hope that he can save Nora’s life and they can live happily ever after and have everything go back to normal.
