Selina rolled her eyes. âAll work and no play makes Victor a very dull boy,â she said loftily. âBesides, you should just trust me. I have not led you astray yet, but youâre still so apprehensive all the time. Donât be, darling, Iâm much smarter than you give me credit for. Iâm much smarter than any man gives me credit for.â She gestured vaguely at him. âIâm like the royalty of these streets, all of you should be bowing down to me, anyway.â
âVery funny.â Victor sighs. âYou know why I work so much, Selina.â Victor has so much he needs to do, so much work and progress to be made, but he follows along with Selina anyway, trusting that what sheâs doing is for a reason of some sort. âIâm not apprehensive, Selina - I just know time isnât on our side. I donât doubt you in the slightest.â The truth is, Victor doesnât know why she bothers with him. Heâs not the type of person who normally catches the eye of anyone like Selina, and he canât help but wonder why she bothers with him. âI donât think I am one for bowing. Are you going to share this plan of fun with me?â
