         ❛ really? ❜ he chokes out, surprised and already expecting to be shut down likeall the other boys. peeta may be charming and outwardly confident but inside helacks the real belief that he worth looking at twice. he closes his mouth with a snap, before he incriminates himself more – he’s not going to ruin a good thing ; they rarely happen to him anymore.  ❛ i’m actually off tonight but i understand if that’s too short of notice –  ❜

                                                  His surprise is all kinds of adorable, though Lydia would never admit as such aloud  ( even thinking it is a little much, really )  and she’s even more certain than she had been a moment ago that this is the right thing to do. 

                  ❛ Yeah, really ---- unless you’ve changed your mind. As for tonight, that would be perfect. ❜

              the fingers in his hair startle him, only slightly, not to the point where                  he jumps. it’s soothing, or it’s supposed to be, and he’ll move his                  forehead to rest upon her shoulder, eyes closing slightly. he hates this.                  the world hates him. he’s just very, very close to screaming.                                              “are you okay? oh my god, lydia i – “                  he’d been so caught up in worrying about the jeep, that he didn’t even                  realise that he’d never asked lydia if she was okay. he goes to step                  back to examine her, but his hand is taken and he looks down at it, the                  way she holds into it as if to bring him out of a trance. amber hues look                  to her, head canting to the side slightly. brows will furrow, and he lets                  out a soft laugh, wincing afterwards.                                               “i’ll be fine. are you okay? did you get hurt?                                                i swear to god if you have internal bleeding                                                because i was being an ass, i might just                                                BLUDGEON my head against a wall.”

                                                   She hates how much pain is rife in their lives, how things like this have become an expected turn of events rather than some kind of anomaly. A quiet sigh is released as Stiles rests his head upon her shoulder, and she allows her grip upon his hand to soften slightly. This feeling of powerlessness is one that Lydia can hardly tolerate, and it is times such as this that she wishes she was of more help.

                                              His concern is sweet, familiar and expected, and Lydia is quick to reassure him. She’s almost certain that she’s fine, but she will submit herself to the paramedics when they arrive. She can hardly afford to take the risk, when any wrong step, both in the word of the supernatural, and not, could destroy them all. 

                                               ‘ It’s okay, Stiles ---- I think I’m fine. But I’ll let the paramedics have a look, before you start worrying. You just need to stay still, and not put your hands on that wound. ‘

She’s reaching to take Lydia’s hand, her way of keeping her close, her eyes wandering the corridors wearily.

❛ They aren’t mortal, right? That’s good enough for me. ❜

      ❛  —- No, no they’re definitely not mortal. Not even sure if              they’re HUMAN, to be honest. Whatever they are, they’re              dangerous. I’m glad you got here when you did. ❜

   the banshee’s words couldn’t be any FURTHER from    a lie, and it struck stiles in a way that it made him frown.           “ – i know, that’s what scares me. “

              ❛  But if we LEFT, who would protect the town? No one else knows                  what we do, no one can fight like we have. They would all die. It’s                  the only reason I’ve made myself stay.  ❜

He doesn’t really understand what she’s getting at. ‘What happened?’ WELL, many things have happened… the boy rubs at his temples, an exasperated expression playing at his visage.

                                     “What do you M E A N— what happened?”

Lydia doesn’t know if he truly doesn’t understand, or if he is trying to lie to her. It DOESN’T matter. Her lips press into a line, her gaze fierce and frightened all at once.

    it doesn’t matter what dean thinks.  it only matters what she     thinks of herself.  she sees herself as a monster and that no     one can  change  her view  unless  she lets them.  dean was     ready to PROVE  to her that there were worse creatures out     there.    lydia wanted in and she isn’t going to give up easily.     if she was willing to  help  her,  the  least  he  could  do  was     do the same for her.

             “ there’s gotta be somethin’ y’ can do t’ stop it.  i can help ya. ”

                 he was convinced that he could.   this was his job, anyway;                  helping people.      even if it was a problem which he hadn’t                  encountered in the past,  he was still willing to try and solve                  it.     his gaze averted to their hands, as he noticed that they                  had remained linked.  his thumb brushed over the back of                  her hand as he spoke.

                                 “ second this case is over i will. ”

She admires his faith, his determination. Lydia will not admit aloud that she thinks she is BEYOND saving now, that no one has heard of what a banshee truly is. Nobody knows what she can do, what powers linger within her skin. But, she’s not sure that she needs to be saved, not really. Not how Dean, and everyone else thinks. She needs to understand what she is.

                 ❛  I don’t need to STOP it. I need to ---- I need to know more.  ❜ 

A soft sigh is released as his thumb brushes the back of her hand, her posture relaxing. For now, she’s going to worry about Dean, not about herself. Once she knows he’s SAFE, the rest can follow.

his entire being reacts to the GUILT he’s facing, body rejecting him in more ways than just suffering mental a n g u i s h. his in– born defenses are falling prey to the culpability as it wears away at his immune system from the inside out—the wound on his back not healing quite as it should… one quick glance at the girl && stiles is deflecting,

                    “I think we’re all a little bit different than we were.”

Her brows furrow, a quiet sound of irritation sticking within her throat. No, she does not understand her powers the same way that Scott and Malia understand theirs. But it is part of her, and she wants to know why death is clinging so closely to her friend.

                            ❛  Don’t LIE to me, Stiles. What happened to you? ❜

      human contact. something tracy thought she could never have after losing herself. the tiniest human       part inside of her crumbling apart. she was too TERRIFIED to get close to anyone weeks after, but       now she would just let it all go. all the guilt and sorrow and anger she has kept right under the surface.       no one is strong enough to get through something like this without a tear shed, so she cries it all out into       lydia’s shoulder. as if tears could rid her of what she has done.  of the monster she had become.                    “you’re right. i mean —- what triggers it? DREAMS? i’m terrified of closing my eyes                     even just for a second every damn day, because… what if the next time i’ll open them                     my hands will be covered by someone else’s blood. again. i mean, you say – you say                     you can help me to control this, but CAN YOU? can any of you?”

There is very little Lydia can say. She can empathise, but that is not going to help Tracey face what she is. And it will not provide any answers. Even the book has offered little in the way of those, and Lydia is running out of ideas. But she will not leave Tracey to handle her demons on her own.

                             ❛  I’m not sure. I’m not sure we can help you control it, but we                                 will watch over you, make sure you don’t sleepwalk again. ❜

The injury on his shoulder had yet to heal, in fact, it continuously bothered him, FLARING up in moments of high stress— which was almost a constant for him.

Stiles assumes Lydia’s too preoccupied to notice the  q u i c k pull he makes at the fabric of his sweatshirt if only to separate the wound from meshing with the cotton. A sharp breath leaves his nostrils in order to QUELL the pain, but when he resurrects his gaze, the strawberry blonde is staring straight at him. A quick rise of the brows and Stiles shrugs,

                       “I told you—I was trying to fix the engine                         of my car and the damn hood fell shut.                                                          It’s fine. I’m fine.”

Her head tilts to one side, challenging, lips pursing together. It is not the way he is so very twitchy, so very afraid, but the quiet whispers that cloud her head whenever he is close. A death of some kind lingers with him, and ---- Lydia knows it’s not him that is going to die. It’s both a relief, and something  terrifying. She remembers the nogitsune, and then wishes  that she hadn’t.
