Amycus cracked a smiled and glanced over at her. “It’s because I know I’ve heard worse.” He pulled her closer as another person almost bumps into them, the crowds thickest by the storefronts they were trying to move away from.
“Bellatrix and I have very few things in common, but a dislike for shopping is apparently one of them.” He cleared his throat when he heard her question, looked away. It wasn’t an easy thing to speak about, even to someone whom he trusted as much as he trusted Narcissa. “It’s been…difficult. I’ve not had a chance to speak with her without her shouting at me over something. Can barely speak to her, haven’t touched her. And she won’t let me ask her why. She avoids it. And I’m starting to think it’s something I’ve done, that she might-” He looked away, his throat tightening.
He couldn’t bear the thought that his sister wanted nothing to do with him, romantically or no. She was his world, his twin. They’d come into this world together and they’d promised to leave it the same way. Her silence and coldness towards him scared him, if he was being honest with himself, though he couldn’t find it in himself to speak this aloud, even to someone like Cissa.
“At least Lucius understands. Alecto wanted to come; even when she won’t let me care about her, she still wants to be beside me. It’s all rather confusing if I’m being honest.”
“Oh, I know-- and it’s surprising to say the least.” Narcissa chuckled at his attempt on comparing his lack of interest of shopping to her sister’s. But, he was right. There’s not many people who share something in common with Bella, not even her. She is the woman her own league.
She bit the inner side of her cheeks the moment he began to speak. She glanced at Amycus, whenever he wasn’t looking and quickly throw her gaze away to the crowd before he can catch her staring. She almost feels bad for asking him that question. His daring affection toward his sister was not something that went off from her attention for long and his words only proven her suspicion of the unusual relationship that was going on between them. But, she is not there to judge them. The Carrow twins are a few people she can truly consider as her friends, regardless of the rumors that was swirling about the two of them and she’s going to make sure that she will offer as much help she can give.
“She won’t.” Narcissa put up a smile. “Maybe it’s because too much stress from work or something that bother her mind. I know how it can affect the way she act.” She squeezed his arm, encouragingly. “You are her brother, her family, her everything. She loved you enough to have the thought of.. leaving. When the time had come, she will explain everything. In the meantime, all you can offer is your presence and patience.”
She smiled, again. “The only logical explanation I can offer is that we-- women-- can act deliberately weird and confusing because we were controlled by our emotions, that we will regret at the end. It happens between Lucius and I, where I can barely contain myself and it gets worse when I’m pregnant.”
