Have you ever noticed that ( Jaime Reyes) from the ( DC UNIVERSE ) looks a lot like ( Michael Cimino)? But ( HE) also go/goes by ( Blue Beetle). It was in no way Bart’s fault that Jaime was in the middle of talking to somebody else. Probably wasn’t Jaime’s fault either, he had a lot of friends and all. But Bart needed to talk to him, and he couldn’t exactly just flash in there and steal him. It might raise a bit too many questions. Instead, he resorted to pebbles. They were tiny ones and Jaime was tough! He’d feel the pebble, see Bart and find an excuse to get away, right? 

Jaime chuckled at the girl across from him. he’d seen her around a few times and finally had gotten the courage to talk to her. “Yeah that’s pretty cool so I’m-ow” he stopped when he felt the pebble on his shoulder. He turned and saw bart. go away he mouthed nodding his head slightly towards her.

       Peter crawled along the wall, clinging to it silently as he approached his prey. Webbing the ceiling, he slowly lowered himself to ear height behind the other person. Pulling his mask up just over his mouth, he whispered, “Boo.”

Jaime reyes. there is an - “ Quiet you. I’m trying to hear something. be useful and help me out” Jaime shushed the scarab as he tried harder to listen to the conversation on the other side of the door. That’s when he heard the boo. he jumped, a slew of spanish profanities leaving his mouth as his armour covered him, sonic canon at the ready. That was the scarab’s doing . It tended to over react. “You scared the hell out of me!” he whisper yelled.

“Ah this ones a classic! Ice on the floor so the speedster can’t get traction, right?” Bart veered to the left, running up the building and rushing into his enemies side, knocking them down. “Wrong.” And TIP now they were falling too. “Did you hit your head or something? Not very crash.” And then in a burst of speed be brought the unconscious villain to safety. “This century’s villains need a course in villainology. Or protective headgear.” / @assemblestarter​

“Alright hermano. That’s enough. Let’s get these guys booked. I’m supposed to be making dinner tonight for everyone and I think Arrowette may kill me if I cheat by getting Taco Bell again.” he smiled, handcuffing the perps to the pole. “scarab, call the NYPD.” he instructed.

       “Fine.” Cissie huffed in defeat, giving into Jaime’s charm. He was always about to quell her with his happy-go-lucky attitude. “I wanted my mac and cheese.” The blonde grumbled. “But Chinese or Italian sounds good too.” She crossed her arms over her chest.

“and your mac and cheese you will have another day! Today you get free Chinese. isn’t that much better?” he chuckled nervously as he lead them out. Once outside, he started walking toward one of the Chinese places up the street. “Plus, now we get to eat together! It’s been awhile since we hung out just us right?” It was at that moment he realized he was still holding her. He let go, nervously chuckling. as he stretched his arms above his head.

      “Who said anything about murder? I was only planning to maim or seriously injured.” She said, looking up at him. “He’s definitely on his way to Bart’s house, not Tasmania, but fine.” Cissie knew that she might have been slightly hangry and that food could resolve her poor mood.

“Well we can eat first and if you still feel all maim-y after that, I’ll let you have at it.” he chuckled throwing on his jacket quickly. He put an arm around her shoulders, the other holding one of her arms as he lead her out the building. “What are you in the mood for? Anything you want.”

Cass beamed brightly at him, clapping her hands. Her grasp on English may still be coming along, but she figured while she was learning, it wouldn’t hurt to add another language. She frowned thoughtfully. “I know…” She considered her very limited knowledge. “Hola,” she said. “And, um…por favor.” She frowned sheepishly. “That’s all. Sorry.”

“Alright well it’s something I guess.” he chuckled. He had no idea where to start teaching her. He tried to think back when he took Spanish I in high school. AS you can imagine, he tested out of it. “Alright well, Vamos. That means come on.” he smiled nodding his head towards the door. “Let’s start with some introductory phrases. If I said Hola, me llamo Jaime. What would you think that meant?”

           Cissie watched as Bart jumped out of Jaime’s window with a large gust, blowing her hair behind her shoulders. “I guess I’ll have to go hunt him down then. I needed target practice.” She replied, shaking her head and turning away from Jaime’s open door. “Thanks for the help, but I got it.” 

“whoa whoa whoa. How about instead of defaulting to murder...I take you to go get food?” Jaime asked, walking in front of her, placing both hands up. He just wanted to help bart live to see another day. “Doesn’t that sound better and quicker than hunting down  a speedster? He could be in Tasmania by now.”

       Donna had learned to decipher the mumbling of the younger Titans over the years, so spotting Jaime and hearing him exclaims something that vaguely sounded like her name, she laughed. “Hi Jaime.” The amazon greeted as she walked further into the tower. Following after him, she sat down on the couch. “How are you? Where is everyone?”

“I’m doing great. I’ve got better control and communication with my scarab now. Even found a few cool new features. Like, he’s a translator?? It’s awesome.” he told her quickly texting bart. “Oh I’m sure they’re all around somewhere. Everyone’s been sorta doing their own thing after the demon attack.” he said nonchalantly.

he rose a brow, trying to remember the last word for a moment. calm down? “you telling me to calm down after that?” he joked, grinning his toothy grin. “alright alright, i’ll calm down.” he dramatically rolled his eyes.

“we’re supposed to be on a stake out. i can’t focus on what the scarab is saying to me AND be dying of laughter.” Jaime shook his head still smiling. The scarab spoke in his head, translating the language of the two aliens a few booths down. They looked normal enough to the human eye but it was just a cloak. “scarab says there’s supposedly some weapons in the basement. Think you could get down there?” he asked.

Cass beamed brightly as Jaime agreed to help her, although she hadn’t really doubted that he would. She had been able to read Jaime’s goodness from the moment she met him, even if her body language interpretation skills weren’t what they used to be. “Thank you,” she managed. She smiled. “Now, please,” she said. “If you…” She smiled shyly and looked up at him. “Don’t…don’t mind.”

“Of course. Anything for you Cass.” Jaime smiled, nodding for her to come with him. “Best way to learn is to immerse yourself in it. And I happen to be going to the best Mexican place in the city.” he smiled. “have you learned anything so far? or are we starting from scratch.

“ i know what you mean. it’s no big.” Jaime chuckled shaking his head. The kid was a little all over the place, but it was endearing to watch. He lead them out stretching as they hit the sun him. “So, you been in the city long?”

       Cissie knocked on Jaime’s door, waiting it to open before she began speaking. “Have you seen Bart? I left Mac and Cheese in the pot in the kitchen and I told him not to eat it, but guess what – it was gone when I went back. I know he’s hiding from me. Is he in your room?” The blonde asked, trying to peer of his shoulder. 

Jaime opened the door, quickly pulling it back to a close upon seeing the blonde. “Hello Cissie. Nice to see you too.” he chuckled nervously. He felt a gust of wind behind him and the sound of his window breaking. “You know what...you just missed him. I can tell him you’re looking for him though.”

Cass blinked a few times, flushing slightly at being caught staring. “I…” Even more so in her embarrassment, she struggled to find the words. “Um…” She looked at him for a minute, her arms winding around her waist. “You…you speak…” Cass looked at him hopefully for a minute, banking that he would fill in the blanks. “Spanish?” she said finally. “I…I would…” She sighed softly, her brow furrowing. “Like to learn?”

Jaime watched her patiently, knowing that Cassandra sometimes struggled to find the right words. “I do. It’s actually my first language.” He said to her. His lip curved into an amused smiled. “I’m not much of a teacher but I can give it a whirl for you Cass.” He offered. “Did you want to start today? I’ve got some time.”
