Leslie had been sitting in the back office, allowing some distance between herself and the patients that had been flocking to the clinic after the gas had flooded the city. So many people hurt and wanting something to make that feeling stop. But that kind of escape wasn’t something that Lee could provide. Running a hand over her mouth, Lee closed her eyes and had been about to sigh when the door swung open, a familiar tone filling the room. Her entire body tensed and Lee looked up and forced a smile to her face, “Sofia,” but her tone was anything but warm. Lee looked into Sofia’s eyes, “There is only a ten percent chance of someone surviving a bullet wound like the one I gave you, either I’m an amazing shot or incredibly unlucky,” but the mention of Mario caused Lee’s jaw to tighten. “He’d understand, I’m sure. This isn’t a happy family after all.”
“Unlucky would imply that you don’t regret what you did, which would not bode well for you, sis.” Sofia was furious, she’d been expecting Lee to beg for forgiveness. Ever since waking up from her coma, she’d spend hours and hours playing out different scenarios in her head. In some she murdered Lee, in others, she tortured her for weeks. In very rare ones, she allowed her to grovel and do everything she could to make things up to her. “Ah, so my brother’s name does still mean something to you. Even after all this time, hearing his name still puts you on edge.” She smirked and began to circle Lee, like a vulture moments away from tearing apart its prey. “I should give you a headache like the one you gave me,” she hissed into her ear. “Do you want all of the Falcone siblings dead? Do you and Jim have a little pact? Maybe that was the plan all along ... Kill all of us, then there’s nobody left to run the family business. Am I right, Leslie?”

Fish looked up from the papers on her desk, getting her club, Vortex, off the ground had been an adventure so far, but with the help of Jenna and a bit of investment from Vincent — things were looking up. Looking up from the papers when she heard her name, Fish arched a brow and looked at the young woman who entered her office. “Sofia Falcone,” she repeated the name — it had been a while since she had heard the name Falcone. “Carmine Falcone, now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. Can’t say I’m sorry to hear he’s six feet under,” Fish shrugged a shoulder before leaning into her chair. “Guess we don’t all get a second chance at life,” there was a cold smile on her face before looked into Sofia’s eyes, “Then you have me at a disadvantage, then again, your father and I weren’t exactly friendly.”
Sofia laughed at Fish’s words, she saw no reason to argue with her. Things were better with her father in the ground, and she didn’t exactly miss him. He’d sent her away when she was a teenager, so she was used to not having him in her life. “My dear father had a lot of friends, but he had even more enemies. With him dead, it presents more opportunities for others.” It should’ve offended her that Fish Mooney hadn’t heard the Falcone name for a long time, but she walked into her office expecting that kind of attitude. “The world would be severely overpopulated if we did. Only the strong survive twice.” She smiled and placed her hands in her lap. “You weren’t, but I’ve heard stories. They were ... inspiring to a woman of my caliber. If there’s one thing you should know about me, Miss Mooney, it’s that I’m nothing like Carmine. I live up to the Falcone name. I’m not going to sit here and say I’m sad he’s dead, because it wouldn’t be true. He was weak, and he was a pathetic old man.” If this were someone else, she would’ve held back her true feelings –– but she knew about the woman’s talent, so there was no point in lying to her.

Dinah stood with arms crossed against the doorframe of Sofia Falcone’s office. Studying the woman, she tried to fit the two reputations into the one woman sitting before her – the socialite and the supposed crime boss. Not that anyone had proven a connection yet. “No, thank you,” she replied, giving a forced smile in return. “I wouldn’t want to waste anymore of your time than necessary.”
Sofia gave a polite smile and grabbed a bottle of water from the mini fridge for herself. “You can take up as much of my time as you need, I have no problem with ignoring business to answer your questions. I could use a break anyway.” She laughed and sat back down at her desk. “Please take a seat. I’ll tell you anything you need to know.” Maybe this had something to do with the murder of her father or her underhanded way of climbing to the top in New York so quickly.

Sofia looked up from her desk and gave the detective standing in her office a faux, warm smile. Her security had told her the woman’s name, and her reason for visiting. “Good afternoon, Miss Lance,” she greeted. “Can I get you something to drink?” Playing the part of a gracious hostess would surely get her on the woman’s good side. “I have water, whiskey, tea, coffee ... I heard you want to talk to me, and we can’t talk with dry mouths, can we?” It was so easy to turn into the doting sweetheart that cared, rather than be the cold, calculating bitch most people knew her as.

Sofia’s day had been going badly from the moment she woke up. As soon as she opened her eyes, she received a phone call telling her a job had gone wrong. Now she had to go and do damage control, and also put a bullet in the men incapable of carrying out her simple orders properly. Her driver also didn’t turn up on time, so now she was trying to hail a cab and not having any luck. “Just when I thought the people here couldn’t get any ruder than Gothamites ...” She turned around, looking for the nearest person. “What would be the fastest way to get to Manhattan?” she asked them.

As she walked into Lee’s clinic, Sofia felt like the cat that ate the canary. Her sister-in-law probably assumed she was dead, but here she was, alive and kicking. She didn’t bother to knock on the office door, opting for pushing it wide open to make a grand entrance. “Surprise, bitch! Guess who didn’t finish the job properly?” She walked further inside the room and slammed the door shut behind her. “You wasted so much of my time when you put me in a coma. It was so inconvenient ...” She took off her leather gloves and stared straight at Lee. “Out of family loyalty, I only took one of your hands, and then you repaid me by trying to put me in a coffin. That just doesn’t sound fair, does it? What would Mario say.”
@doclesliethompkins
“Fish Mooney.” Sofia remembered her father’s stories about this woman well –– he used to call her a formidable force when talking to his acquaintances or Mario. He should’ve paid more attention to the young woman that sat at the family dinner table, rather than Miss Mooney though. It might’ve saved his life. “I should introduce myself.” She flashed Fish her best smile, it was one that was sickeningly innocent. “I’m Sofia Falcone, the only daughter of Carmine Falcone. We should’ve met before now, but I’m a busy woman. Lots of family business to take care of, lots of comas to slip into.” She sat down opposite Fish at her desk. “I’ve heard a lot about you.”
