“Ugh. . . Both of you just go back and forth nonstop.”

Fingers run through the soft, snowy tufts of hair as he ponders the answer. Metallic eyes narrow for a moment, displaying his usual exasperated attitude towards his friends’ usual arguments. His hand finally descends from the side of his head as he crosses his arms, almost like a parental figure of sorts-- it reminded him of when they would all play together as children, except this was real. How he answered Gianna’s question would certainly matter.

“My first thought is because Cassie would be lost without either one of you. The two of you mean the world to her-- in different ways, but still equally. So, both of you stick around for her sake.--

However! There is another reason, I think. Call it reading in between the lines, but you just said you two are still friends, which implies that both of you care about each other when it counts.”

"Who are you?" - Gianna

How rude. It is a rare pleasure to run into a close friend in public. He very well could have ignored her and continued his errands rather than greet her so enthusiastically.

“Very funny!” Vince immediately retorts.

Just when he thought that maybe he was being too much of a condescending mom friend towards Gianna, she pulls this. How petty. Vince had to refrain from saying anything-- this would only worsen things if she was going to continue such a front.

Wait, he didn’t do anything to pester her-- not anything recent.

Vince, in all of his expressiveness, let his eyes wander but now he found himself concerned and paying close attention to Gianna’s face. She seemed to genuinely question his presence, as if he were some sort of stranger.

His heart began to race. He didn’t get it. How could she look at him as if all of those years they spent together didn’t exist? No, he couldn’t lose his nerve. If he panicked, they would both be in trouble. Vince had to get help right now.

“Gianna, p-please. This isn’t funny.

Come on, we should get the others.”
