Do you ever think about how we were robbed of Captain Francis Croizer dancing with Captain James FitzJames in the Arctic in #theTerror like Croizer had done with Captain Ross in the Anatartic? Cause I do, all the time.
So I made it myself. Captain Francis Rawdon Moria Croizer and Captain James Fitzjames waltzing beneath the aurora.
Music is 10,000 Miles by Sleeping at Last.
(A full version of them dancing to the whole song, if you want, can be found on youtube here.)
A still image can be found here.
Inspired by: Each Mortal Thing by jouissant and the historical Croizer and Ross dancing in Antartica.
Little snippet of upcoming fanfic associated with it, just because:
“Beneath his eyelids he is dancing again under the polar night sky. The aurora illuminates the ice making it blaze green and blue. Francis is gripping his waist with one hand, a slow indulgent caress of his fingers up and down, while his other is clasped tightly in James’. Their chests are pressed together allowing James to fully appreciate the compact strength built within Francis. He, James knows, is wearing the dress. It flutters behind him, catching on his legs before floating delicately away again. Francis, as is proper for a Ball, is wearing his dress uniform; the gold tassels shimmer in the brilliant swirling lights of the aurora overhead. He is smiling directly at James. As they turn, James can see the outline of the Erebus in brief flashes, sticking up starkly up from the ice where it is entombed. James can no longer feel the all-encompassing cold. He is warm, here, in Francis’ arms.
They are whirling, round and round, under the arctic sky.”
