for @theterrorbigbang i drew something from @margoleon 's fantastic arrival au "A Place that May Exist". As a huge fan of the original film and short story this was a dream project to work on, the scene i went for is this storys cairn confession. I really loved how grounded and atmospheric the devon cliffs setting felt and how brilliantly james' original character arc fit into arrival's themes.

the difference between canon realities and fanon portrayal always kill me. gideon probably is not That muscular, the poor girl is 18 and has eaten like two things her whole life and neither of them are very high in protein, she's fit but not Built. the face paint gives her breakouts. her hair is a mess cut just to keep it out of her way. she and harrow are gross as hell, for numerous reasons - what is a SONIC anyway - soap is made of human fat on the ninth, I wouldn't wanna use it either. harrow is a tiny bat of dark fabric who seems to not want to have any skin perceived at any moment. and like, don't get me wrong, none of this is a bad thing at all. i love my terrible feral nuns.

but there's that, and then there's fanon gideon w her INCREDIBLE muscles and perfect undercut and swoon-worthy everything. harrow who looks GOOD and isn't covered in 50 layers of fabric. (also they're smooching.) and y'know what? I love that for me and for them and for us bc it's fun.
