“i never thought i would be saying this, but i think i might drop out of school,” raymund muttered, throwing his arms behind his head and leaning back to lay on the grass. “do you know how much an average civil engineer makes a year? sixty grand. since i started working at last chance saloon a few months ago, i’ve made a quarter of that.”

her eyes went wide as ray spoke. alina stretched her arms to hug her legs into her chest as she remained in a sitting position. “damn,” she said softly. “that’s a lot of stuff to process. i mean, if you’re happy with your job at the saloon and it sustains you then that’s all that matters.” there was a pause. “why did you decide to study engineering?”

“that’s an excellent observation that rightfully calls me out.” alina smiled brightly at the other, beaming. “i should warn you against the effects of too much caffeine and your heart beating too fast and being very restless because you have too much energy that you can handle... plus, coffee will screw you up by itself if you have too much of it. my stomach is not settled. but, it is kind of amusing. i usually just mix energy drinks and lattes when i’m very desperate. you might want to try it when you have a lot of things to do otherwise i don’t know how that would go, but please keep me updated. i’m actually surprised you haven’t done it since you also work with kids. i feel like if it weren’t for all the coffee i wouldn’t be able to finish half my classes.”

So, you absolutely sure you’re fine?” Of course, Gwen was kidding for the most part, but then, having never had a Red Bull in her life and as someone who had always preferred tea verses coffee, she couldn’t really say from any sort of experience what a combination of the two could possibly do to someone.

a laugh slipped out of alina’s lips before she could stop it. “okay, okay. you might have a point.” she raised a finger and titled her head in deep thought. “although, i will admit i’m definitely that type of drunk person, so what does this say about me?” she laughed again. “i wont lie... i’m definitely more jittery than regular, but it’s nothing i can’t survive. my heart is probably not having a good time. energy drinks are quite bad for you, but sacrifices must be made every once in a while.” sadly, alina had to sacrifice herself too often in order to catch up with grading books. “a good side effect of caffeine is feeling like you can do anything. but... i guess that depends on everyone. do you know the effect caffeine has on you?”
