me whenever sb says they want their muse to be kieran's parent: 🤲

and because I was yapping about caleb and jealousy. morrigan gets so jealous so easily. she's very, very possessive. as jealousy always is, it's rooted in insecurity. she was taught she's hard to love, unlovable even, and she fears that being true. it's part of why she leaves, too, even after falling in love. it's just easier to leave before she gets left. it's better this way.

but when she is involved with someone, that's her person and she's not sharing. she thinks she has to be enough for them. she will feel threatened by other people trying to catch their eye. she could never be in a poly relationship because it'd turn into constant competition and second guessing herself and feeling incredibly possessive and getting even controlling perhaps. it'd not be good for anyone involved. even when she knows she is loved, she needs that person to be hers and no one else's.

talking to sawyer made me think about how, growing up mostly isolated and seeing the world with views mostly shaped by flemeth's tales, morrigan's idea of marriage is of something very... transactional. not at all love related, not entailing any sort of partnership.

i just think it could've been neat if kieran dragon age kept the god in his head instead of flemythal taking the fragment. and also that his important destiny or whatever that morrigan can mention in dai was something akin to rook in the sense of leading the effort to save the world etc

thinking about it and actually it may be more likely kieran was born in the crossroads than orlais proper..

Imari was from the very beginning fascinated by Morrigan. A mage who had never seen the inside of a circle? A woman who seems to carry herself with such confidence despite how much of the world is against her? Of course they were incredibly interested in Morrigan early on. Of course they ended up infatuated with her.

Will forever remain kind of in love with Morrigan even if their relationship types do not align well enough for this to work out long term. You will not catch Imari speaking badly about her ever, even when she does questionable things ( it is not like she is Imari's only morally questionable friend ).

The Dark Ritual is a very awkward, very tragic situation for them both. Their break up is very fresh, tension and awkwardness around each other remains high, the situation itself is already quite difficult and Morrigan asking Imari to promise not to try and contact her after this is said and done and not expecting to be a part of the child's life weighs heavily on Imari ( which is part of why they try and go after her anyway during Witch Hunt ). They will forever consider themself in Morrigan's debt for offering this alternative to death, no matter how selfish Morrigan's motivations may or may not have been.

Imari tries their best to hide the worst consequences of suffering from the taint when spending time with Morrigan and always attempts to exude an air of calm around her. They know she worries and would rather she has one less thing to worry about, especially during the time when Kieran was still very young.

They do wish to stay in somewhat regular contact ( as much as that is possible given they both travel a lot ), both because, again, they remain forever fond of the witch of the wilds and because they want to have a part in Kieran's life as well.

also i have a post with some of dai morrigan's lines about the hof and kieran and i was looking at it and

she is very sure a cure is possible (for her warden, perhaps for every warden, but that's not her focus) and that they're on the right track, and considering the joining involves lyrium and complicated magic and blood magic i just think a cure would also involve these things and i think morrigan is particularly uniquely suited to be capable of figuring it out and doing it in a way a mage with ordinary circle training or even an apostate who hasn't delved into ancient magic or blood magic just wouldn't.

anyways if you're her lover and you're a warden she's curing you you're not allowed to die before her and leave her alone

if we're talking about close friends, i do think she'd have sought the cure anyway, especially if the warden themself is working on it, but even if they're not. she doesn't want her friends to die like that. she's giving them a way out if she can figure it out in time (and, if it's refused, i do think she'd be upset similarly to how she is if a friend warden refuses the ritual, in the sense of 'i don't want to stick around and watch you die when there's an alternative')

this is from when i was playing yesterday but i do enjoy morrigan's commentary greatly because mother hannah just says 'oh it's good you're here your magic will be useful' when questioned if she's fine with the fact you're a mage and. morrigan is so right actually. so mages must be hunted down and locked up or killed always except when they can be useful. okay.

i think one think that never changes is that morrigan is very averse to touch when it comes to most people. any kind of touching (she complains about handshakes in dao and how it's unnecessary to touch her hand for a greeting, for one). which is not to ay she's averse to every sort of touch always, but she is particular about it. kieran is the only one she ever volunteers hugs to, and she'll kiss his forehead and hold his hand; she's a lot more open to contact with her son. she does enjoy being kissed and held by a lover, she can enjoy hugging a friend, but i do believe she would not always be open to it. which has nothing to do at all with how much she loves someone, and is entirely about how she feels, and while her level of comfort is far higher the closest she is to someone, she can be particular about physcal contact.

the way she so easily uses the 'calling your child thankless for getting the bare minimum' card immediately after morrigan even slightly talks back....

the way morrigan stammers when you thank her for helping after the tower of ishal.... the way she simply doesn't really know how to accept that immediately and says she did very little as to suggest you shouldn't be thanking her...

i've seen the post about the potential cures and am once again thinking about the fact morrigan would try to find a cure for a lover or a friend and that with her knowledge of ancient magic and willingness to use blood magic when it suits her she would be able to find a way to cure her warden. not every warden, but the one that matters to her.

very fond of the way morrigan treats the fem warden as more of an equal/deserving of respect than the others, and there's a lot there between alistair's chasind comment and daveth's witch of the wilds one, but there is also something to be said about how she was taught to see men in a negative light in this essay i will

like! you actually can see it so clearly that morrigan talks to the fem warden as being more sensible/someone worth talking to, and then flemeth talks to the warden in a way that suggests expecting her to be more sensible/see things differently from these 'boys' and it's just. quite evident how morrigan's views were influenced by flemeth
