what do you think of your grandparents?
“You gotta be more specific there, bud. I have, or well had three pairs of grandparents.”
Who are some of your favorite people (human or otherwise) you've met recently?
“UncleChewie is hands down the best. I like my friends, Poe and Kaydel. And mymother, obviously, I adore her. Other than that, people aren’t exactlysomething I enjoy. My favorite people have always been my siblings, not thatthey care at all.”
Do you have any regrets?
“I regret not fighting for Ben, not being there for him when he felt like he had no one but Snoke. He had me. He always had me. He will always have me. I regret not going after him. I let him down. I let my family down. We were a team and I failed him. I failed my family. I should have stopped him when I had the chance. I lost everyone because of it. I lost my brother and I regret it every single day.”
Do you see yourself being General of the Resistance one day?
“Of course not! That’s just ridiculous. My mother is a great General, the best there is, and there is absolutely no one who could take her place ever. Can you even imagine it? I would drive the Resistance off a cliff the very first day.”
what do you want from your future?
“Iwant my family back, all of them. And yes, that includes Ben. I want my dadback, and my siblings. I just want things to go back the way they were. I knowit’s impossible, but force I would give anything in this galaxy just for one moreminute with them.”
Have you ever been in love? Do you want to be one day?
“No and no. I’m sorry, but if you haven’t noticed, we’re in the middle of a kriffing war. There is no time for love and romance and whatever. That’s a distraction I don’t need.”

As the ship flew away from the planet’s surface, Galvin couldn’t help but feel completely dejected. His ship was down there, with a newly filled tank of fuel and a small pile of rations. His home was down there, in sight of the Stormtroopers. He would’ve run to it in a heartbeat if this girl hadn’t shoved him onto this ship. This telepathic, Rebellion scum of a girl. The more he thought about it, the more the scavenger realized that he had lost everything because of this girl. She hadn’t even asked him if he wanted to come with- she chose for him. As he stood in the doorway, the ship jerked to the side. He was thrown against the wall, and simply continued to lean against it for support. It was all her fault.
When the girl began to speak, he didn’t hear a thing she said. He didn’t care what she had to say. “This, all of this, is your fault!” He yelled, turning around to face her. “My ship is down there, my livelihood! How am I supposed to do anything up in the middle of space! It took me years to save for that thing! I spent my savings on it and fixed it with my bare hands! And you just decided to shove me into this piece of junk with your fancy mind games, and risk it all being destroyed! I could’ve escaped on my own just fine- I didn’t need your help! Besides, if I would’ve just told the First Order what I knew, they wouldn’t have done anything to me! Take me back to Jakku right now!” He was vaguely aware that he sounded like a toddler, but he didn’t care. This girl had no right to take him where ever she was going, and had zero right to label him as a rebel. He was doomed, it all was doomed. He would be hunted like a rat after this, treated like scum.
Jaina was trying to come up with a plan or something, anything that would get them out of this mess. And he kept talking non-stop, complaining about her saving his life. She should have left him down there with the Stormtroopers, see if he were as happy when they used their blasters on him. "Shut up!" She had enough. It was not the moment for him to have a panic attack, not when the First Order probably already knew about her snooping around Jakku, which meant they knew she was looking for Poe. This was a mess, and of course totally her fault, but she was not going to dwell on that.
"I will take you back to Jakku, alright? Just give it a few hours. Right now it's too dangerous. And don't worry about your ship, they're looking for me, not for you. They probably didn't see you, or even recognize you." How old he was anyway? It felt like she was talking to a child and she didn’t have the time for that. Jaina took a deep breath and turned around back to her seat. She needed to contact Kaydel and tell her what had just happened so she wouldn’t worry about her as well. Yet, and damn her, Jaina couldn't help but feel bad. "I'm sorry. It wasn't my intention to drag you into this mess. I will take you back to Jakku and make sure your ship is returned to you if taken.”

kaydel bit her lip, not wanting to be the bearer of bad news but also feeling as if it were partially her fault. the lieutenant broke eye contact with jaina, gaze falling to the dusty floor of the command room. “she had mentioned something about rumors…” her voice trailed off, knowing jaina wouldn’t like that answer. but kaydel ko was never one to lie, especially when it came to such an important topic. “but she was close with poe….maybe she just managed to connect the dots on her own.” but that explanation did cover the ‘rumors’ mentioned by the medic when she had earlier discussed with her. “you’re going to jakku!?” her hushed tone was full of WORRY, clearly showing her concern for such a plan. “jaina, what if you meet the same fate?? what if….what if it’s a trap you’re walking straight into??” she didn’t want to think about where those two options left poe, but the thought of losing multiple people she was close with was a bit terrifying. but kaydel knew she couldn’t stop the pilot once she had her mind set to something, and after her worried projections, she gave a nod, accepting the other’s plan. “just promise me you’ll be careful,” the statement was as pointless as when poe had promised her he’d be back in no time, but hearing the words from their mouths still gave kaydel a small comfort. “if your mother finds out i knew about this…” she gave a shake of her head. she could be out of a job, not that was a big concern at all to her given the current circumstances. turning back to her array of screens, she gave another nod, this time much more determined. “the last transmission is from inside the orbit of jakku, one would think he made it there but i received no landing confirmation from him.” she paused, turning back to look the pilot in the eye. “please say you’ll keep me updated.” she couldn’t handle not hearing any word back from this mission as well.
Rumors? Well, that was a problem. They couldn't allow people to know what was going on, for there was a reason why ranks existed. But that wasn't the problem and it was certainly not Kaydel's fault. "Doesn't matter right now." It worried her and she would discuss it with the General later. Right now Poe and BB-8 were more important than anything else. Jaina knew it was not her brightest idea, but they were running out of options. Poe hadn't contacted them in a while and the last thing they knew was that he was on his way to Jakku. If something had happened to him, then she would find answers on the desert planet. "I won't. I'll be careful. He went to see someone the First Order is also looking for. I'm sure that whatever happened or is happening will distract them enough for me to ask around." She didn’t deny the possibility of a trap, but what else could she do? She was willing to risk her own life if it meant getting Poe back. Promises meant nothing, she had learned that when everyone who mattered to her had walked out of the door. But she didn't have the heart to upset Kaydel even more. "I promise," she agreed, meaning it against her better judgment. "I'll be back before you notice my absence." Her mother would understand, or at least she hoped so. Poe was their family, and he needed them. "I'll deal with her if that happens. Don't worry your pretty head about it." She nodded, making a mental note with all the information. "Perhaps he didn’t have time to do that. He had instructions and it was for the best if no one knew he was on Jakku." She looked around one more time to make sure people were paying attention to them. "I will. As soon as I find anything, I will let you know. If my mother asks, tell her you haven't seen me."

“That’s alright d-d-doll, I got plenty ta do with my mouth.” He grinned, taking a generous slice out of the truffle tart he was currently enjoying. Bringing the food to his mouth, he held the fork between his lips, before pulling the metal out with an audible, pop. “But you’re welcome t-t-ta buy me one, when I’m finished with this.” He added, his voice terribly smug. “Anyway, ’m guessin’ you’re not from around here?” D.J. questioned, having taken a peek at her datapad.
He didn't seem to be one of those rich idiots around, which was refreshing, and she turned around to face him. "Why not? Maybe one of those fruit tarts? Those are my favorite." Or perhaps she just needed to talk with someone who didn't think themselves better than the other because they have enough credits to buy the entire galaxy. "No! Thank the Maker. I'm here for business, I guess. What about you? Take no offense, but you don't exactly look like one of them."

When the girl pulled out a blaster and started picking off Stormtroopers, Galvin felt relieved. When she, in turn, grabbed his arm and started running, he felt like he had a chance of survival. When she somehow materialized a ship from underneath a sand dune, he realized he was already dead. In the space of 15 seconds, he could process only three emotions, the last of which being dread. As he came to, he realized that she had simply buried the ship in sand before hand, and yanked it all off with- with telepathy. What was that? How could she do that? Another few seconds of processing, a book he had as a child came to mind. It was a picture book from the local library, entailing the journeys of the “Jedi”. It was a worn book, the one that stood out the most in his memory. If he could remember correctly, they had some form of telepathy, but he had absolutely no idea what it was called. Getting shoved into the ship snapped him out of his trance, the door clanking shut behind him.
“What?!” He yelled, pure terror crossing his face. Oh god, he was going to die. This was it. He had thought this girl was just some sort of a pilot, not a mystical being capable of telepathy. And now he was on her SHIP. This was bad, really bad. This was really, really, really bad. The Stormtroppers would report all of this, and his savings would be seized. He wouldn’t be able to buy his own ship, or travel the galaxy. He would be trapped in a cell because he accidentally decided to be friendly with a Resistance… god knows what she was! Standing just inside the door, he couldn’t help but see his entire future lain out in front of him.
This was bad. This was all the very bad. Poe and BB-8 were missing, Stormtroopers were after her now and she had practically kidnapped a man who had nothing to do with this. What was she supposed to do now? Get off the planet at any cost, obviously. But with him? She didn't even know his name. Her mother would have her head, Jaina was sure of it. And she knew he had many questions, but it was not the moment to explain this at all. Jaina rushed into the cockpit, ignoring him, and sat down to focus on get them off ground instead.
There weren't any TIE Fighters around yet, so it was their chance to escape without any more trouble. She was her father's daughter, and in no time, the ship was safe in the sky and away from the sand. Thank you Maker. Jaina sighed in relief, which only lasted a second as she remembered there was someone else with her. "Do you want to sit? I'll explain everything as soon we're off their radar." Jaina couldn't help to feel bad and guilty. This had been her fault and he had been dragged into their mess, and now she would probably have to find him a place to live since going back to Jakku wasn't a possibility. With the Autopilot on, she got to her feet and made her way to him. "Listen, I'm sorry. But you are safe, I promise you that. Well, safe with me. I mean, I won't hurt you. Just breathe."

Thinking he knows better, “ I’m trying to keep you alive. Kylo Ren will twist you up or throw as bait for Snoke. The First Order are fanatical mosnters, they won’ negotiate and they won’t let Poe go alive; it’s Cloud City all over again.” Jagged rebuked by her own response, tightnened his jaw, his own emotions rising to meet hers. “ You Solo’s and Skywalkers, always rusing off; causing trouble. I will go one step further Jania and I will tell your mother, she hasn’t ordered you to go, so by leaving your are in fact deserting.” If she isnsited on acting insuborsdinate, then he would ensure she be repirmanded, he was at heart a soldier and thought it could save her.
"His name is not Kylo Ren!" Those words flew out of her mouth before she could give it a thought. "I don't need you to protect me. I can take care of myself. Don't try to play hero here because I am stronger than you and all your men together." She couldn't believe they were having this conversation. "Did you just threaten me?" Her family was far from perfect, but she would be damned if she allowed anyone to talk shit about them.
Without giving it much thought, she lifted him into the air and threw him against the wall across the small room, making sure he was unconscious. Her family always came first, over anything and anyone, and she refused to let a man tell her what to do when it came to their safety. Hell, when it came to anything. She would not lose Poe in the way she had lost so many people already. "I told you to stay out of my way." Jaina knew he couldn't hear her anymore, so she turned around and walked out of the cockpit. After she made sure the door was closed and people wouldn't come to look for him in a while, Jaina knew she had all the time she needed.

Galvin thought for a moment too long, ignoring how long he had actually been talking to this girl. He knew nothing about her, besides the fact that she was a part of the Resistance, which pretty much threw away all of his efforts to stay Neutral in this stupid war. Sighing, the scavenger reluctantly replied, “Food. Nonperishable is preferred, but I’ll take anything.” Food was much more valuable to him than credits. For as much as he could by with credits, Food was what ate up the majority of it (no pun intended). He found that if he could trade for food directly, it would avoid all of the effort of trying to find sustenance that was reasonably priced and tasted like it. Most everything on this stupid desert planet was overpriced, except for parts. People bought and sold his parts for about 2x under what he needed for a sustainable amount of food. He had to work harder to get the same amount as everyone else, yet the world kept spinning-
The sound of a blaster shot knocked Galvin out of his thoughts. Whipping around, he noticed three stormtroopers pointing and running towards him, and more likely their target, the girl. Cursing loudly, he grabbed her arm and dashed off into the sand, trying his hardest to avoid the fire. He could never afford a weapon, much less a blaster. This meant that he took care to stay out of trouble- except for the one time he ran into a Resistance Fighter. Sand exploded to the left and right of him, but he didn’t stop running. The Tie-Fighters would be coming any minute, meaning they only had that long to escape. “We need to get out of here! Do you have a ship?!” He shouted into the wind, hoping the girl heard him.
She nodded. There had to be food somewhere on her ship, that much she remembered. If not she was sure she could get something for him somewhere on that planet, or return later. Jaina simply wanted to return his kindness, that had been more forced than anything, and it would be her fault if anything happened to him. Perhaps it was a good idea to ask for directions where to find him there, since there wasn't much she could do at the moment. Looking for Poe and BB-8 was her priority and she couldn't get distracted by anything since every minute was vital.
As she was about to open her mouth, the sound of a blaster pretty much set all her alarms off. It wouldn't surprise her if someone had told the Stormtroopers about her in exchange of food or credits -- survival on that planet was hard enough. A gasp escaped her when he reacted first and dragged her with him, but it was just too difficult to run with that stupid sand everywhere. Getting captured was the last thing she needed, and she had promised Kaydel to come back in one piece. "Stop stop! I got this." She reached for her bag and pulled out a blaster. "Just stay behind me!" She said as she hit a trooper right in the chest. Oh she knew. But it bothered her that she hadn't found what she needed and already had to leave Jakku without answers. "I do! Follow me!" It was her turn to grab his arm and led him out of sight and towards her hidden ship. It was not a good idea, she was practically kidnapping him and her mother would be just so mad. But there wasn't much they could do when they were about to get killed. Thankfully, her ship was just right there. With a hand movement, the sand on it fell and the small ship appeared she normally used, so her X-Wing was safe back in the base. Using the force before a stranger wasn't exactly her brightest idea, yet there was no time to lose. Once the door slid open, she practically pushed him inside. "Go go!"
'Be a Goddess among men,' they told her. 'No,' she smiled. 'I'll be a Queen among Gods.'

Café Raduli was always a great place to waste money, what with their ridiculously overpriced caffeine, and miniature, miniature, desserts. It was a pity the food didn’t taste like it was worth the price paid, but then again, D.J. was yet to find a café in the galaxy that didn’t overcharge. However, D.J. also found the cakes tasted much sweeter when someone else was paying, and with his wallet filled to the brim with modified credit chips, linked to unknowing Canto Bight residents, someone else was always paying. Already on his second truffle tart, D.J. turned to the newcomer at the counter, “So, ‘nything I can treat ya to getcha to ssstop hummin’ for a couple minutes?”
Jaina was checking the city's map, looking for the nearest place to spend the night. Sleeping on the ship didn't sound comfortable at all and she still had some people to meet the next day. At the unfamiliar voice, she looked up from her datapad and stared at the man for a moment. "Excuse me?" She hadn't even realized that she had been humming, but that was beyond the point. It was a café, people were talking as loud as inside the casinos and this man was bothered by it? Ridiculous. "No, thank you. Perhaps I should be the one getting you a dessert just to give you something to do with your mouth."

“As tall as a castle,” He repeats the phrase with an amused smile tugging at his lips, though Valentine is not at all surprised he’s received such a first-time greeting. A lot of people in the galaxy seem to not be as friendly as they should be. Perhaps he’s one of them himself. He hefts the part a little more in his hand, looking to it and then back toward the woman. As his eyes wander over her, a name just pops into his head. “Jaina, right? Well, Jaina.. I wouldn’t want to keep you waiting.” With that he steps aside.
She was about to turn around and find another way out when he called her by her name. Jaina was absolutely sure she had never, not once, seen that man in her life. Only those who were interested in the Resistance and her family somehow could know who she was. "Who are you?" And she was not going to walk away without answers. Not when the man clearly had known who she was all along. "How do you know my name? I mean, Jaina is not exactly that ordinary." She had been named after her grandmother after all, and she had never met any other Jaina in her life.

Galvin watched as he was offered a small container, filled with a single chip. His best guess was that it was filled with a couple thousand credits- enough for a couple weeks of food. Something inside caused him to hesitate in taking the box, and then refuse it completely. “You need that more than I do.” Pushing it away, he shook his head. If this girl was going running after the First Order, she would need every resource at her disposal to get away. If she wanted to find her friend, she would probably need the impossible. He had just completed a mediocre deal, and had enough credits (1,543 to be exact) to live uncomfortably for three weeks. Quarter rations were 50 credits a piece, which meant about 3/8s of a portion a day. It wouldn’t be the worst he had had to live though, but it wouldn’t be the best.
“If you don’t mind, you’re in deep. Whatever business you have with the First Order, you’re most likely to die. The least I could do is be understanding of your position. That chip has what, 2,000? 3,000 credits on it? That’ll buy you the help you’re going to need, and/or a nice funeral when you eventually get killed. So keep it.” He shook his head, realizing how stupidly selfish he was being. This girl had put a target on his back, and he was still talking to her. Minutes and minutes have passed, probably tens of people had seen him with her. It was such an incredibly stupid move on his behalf, but he couldn’t bring himself to feel sorry about it.
"No. Please take it." The information had helped her at lot. At least she knew where to go and a place to start instead of wandering around hoping for anything that gave her a clue of Poe's whereabouts. At the moment, it truly felt it was easy to find her uncle Luke somewhere in this galaxy than Poe there on Jakku. There was nothing but sand. She hated the sand. "You shouldn't even talk to me." She was a known Resistance fighter, the daughter of the very General. Jaina had been so caught up in finding her friend that she had forgotten everyone else's safety. Perhaps it was for the best if he didn't go with her.
"Oh you have no idea." She had deep even before being conceived. The Resistance ran through her veins and her own brother was the one behind all this mess. She was about to interrupt, but the funeral mention felt like a bucket of cold water. Her brother wouldn't actually kill her, right? No, Ben --Kylo Ren, whatever—wouldn’t hurt his own family. Her mother said there was still light in him, and so Jaina chose to believe it. It actually had way more than that, but she nodded. He was right. As much as she knew people, it would reach a point where she would have to start paying for information. And she wasn’t going to use the Resistance money. This was on her. "Then there has to be something I can do for you."
