welcome to my indie & mutually exclusive multi-muse for characters from arthurian legends! my name is k80, 25+, she/her pronouns. please know up front that i use a mix of different sources to create the canon for my interpretations. i am flexible when it comes to canon, but there are certain points i will not budge on. please don’t try to ‘correct’ me on those things. bit of a pet peeve, really. other than that, though, i’m pretty chill!

         her suggestion takes him by such surprise, he visibly recoils.  “merlin? ”  of course, he can’t banish merlin, but nor is he going to ignore her displeasure. arthur’s hands fold behind his back, his brotherly disposition reverting back to his more typical kingly one.  “ that would depend on the sin he committed. ”

         would he even believe her, if she were to tell him of the horrors merlin had inflicted on her own childhood? or had is mentor risen so high in his regard that arthur would be blind to his crimes? ‘ he was the architect of murder and rape, and made possible a war that cost hundreds of lives. ‘ he could have stopped uther, turned his head to a different woman, but he hadn’t.

            strained, ywain doesn’t know how to approach the topic delicately. “ not exactly. ”  though that is closer to the truth than anything else isolde might guess. ywain sighs.  “ she is being  —  she has given me cause to believe that she is, is being unfaithful. ”   any other man might look enraged at this statement, but ywain only looks distraught.  “ i don’t know what i could have done to cause her to stray from our vows….”    

        the marriage had been arranged, something both sisters had always expected and always dreaded. they had responsibilities, but they had hearts, too. ‘ do you believe her lover poses a threat to you? ‘ it wasn’t unheard of, for a lover to become a threat to a spouse, whether the motivation be power or true affection. ‘ have you considered that she simply does not love you? ‘

         ettard? some former lover of her husband’s, she is sure - - she is no stranger to the man he had been before they had wed, had certainly not missed any of the whispers. but this was not a name she remembered. it hardly seems to bother her, however, floating by like a leaf on a breeze. “i am not,” she says, eyebrows lifting in vague amusement. “i am ragnelle. who are you?” 

            he could imagine, if nimue was here to witness this (and he was sure she would find out about it somehow) she would already be laughing at him. because, of course, he had once again opened his mouth without first thinking it over. ‘ i’m sorry i just-- ‘ he had assumed, and now looked like an ass. ‘ my apologies, lady ragnelle. ‘ he had just thought gawain would at least marry the lady he seduced. ‘ pelleas of ebusus. ‘ he didn’t introduce himself as a knight, not when he had returned to camelot to leave the round table.

        “i don’t think i’ve ever heard someone make being a professional ballerina sound boring, but i think you’ve managed it.” jenny says, though not with any offense. instead she smiles, looks at the garment bag she’s been handed with interest. “where are we going?” she asks, removing the garment bag to reveal the new design underneath. “god, gwen. this is gorgeous.”  

         ‘ anything can be boring if it is the only thing you ever do. ‘ to be fair, she was often consumed with her own work, her apartment seemed to be wallpapered with design sketches, new ideas. but she sprinkled her routine with a variety of other activities. as jenny enthused, gen beamed. ‘ hmmm, yes, please continue praising me. it feeds me. ‘ jennys dress was a soft seafoam green while genevra herself had made herself a dress of layered purple tulle. ‘ go, go put it on. i brought my kit just in case it need adjustments. ‘

         arthur finishes the sentence he’s writing before putting down the quill, folding his hands, and looking at kay. such bluntness from his knights would usually not be tolerated, but kay is his seneschal, and his brother besides. his voice is calm as he counters: “ so i should submit to rome’s power, is that it? pay tribute to an emperor that’s never stepped foot in our land and has done nothing to deserve the tribute?”  

            ‘ obviously not. ‘ and, yes, he was rolling his eyes at the high king. ‘ but going to war isn’t going to help anyone. it’ll just be more bloodshed on both sides. and, in case you forgot, rome is a lot bigger than britain. ‘ yes, camelot’s knights were skilled, loyal to a fault, and were willing to die for their king. but rome had a near endless supply of soldiers, all of them trained and armed far better than the average soldiers of britain.

        ‘ i’m beginning to feel that the grail brings more misfortune than any tangible benefit. ‘ why did anyone want to find it anyway? it seemed as though it would be off as a myth, an ideal to strive for rather than a tangible object to hold in their hands. ‘ why, exactly, are we meant to find it at all? ‘
