Priya watched as he pulled another card, again, not really understanding the meaning or significance of the card as she didn’t follow card games, nor did she follow any divination secrets. She shrugged and chuckled, “I think all that proves is that those seers that claim they’re practicing real divination are full of shit. If you can enchant cards to pull anything, you could swindle people out of more than a good cent. Surprised a business like that hasn’t crossed your mind with these.” Priya also didn’t believe there was much point in looking to destiny or fate or any such nonsense. Even if those were real beyond their concepts, it didn’t matter what they chose to do, it was predetermined. And if they had the freedom of choice, then they made their own fate in that way.
Enchanted items from Gian Therrhag that were making their way back to Illasqa and thus back to her family. She was grateful to Gian for apparently downplaying the significance of the objects and she had her suspicions as to how they’d even left his hands at all. She hadn’t heard from the trader since he’d gotten back from Elysi and it was likely he was ashamed for letting the items get stolen at all when she’d already paid him for his services to get them back to Jaqar. “Mmmm… I see…” She ran her fingers around the rim of the goblet and raised a brow. What Oggy didn’t realize was that wristwatch and bracelet Gian had been tasked with tracking down was worthless to anyone outside of her family. Well, not worthless exactly, but the gems and the glass beads weren’t enough to go through the hassle of stealing them off a fallen man and whoever the thief was that had originally, she hoped they were dead too. “Tell you what….” She smirked, schooling her expression into one of light amusement. “I’ll give you part of your service fee now… and the rest when you return the goods…” She smirked. “On one condition. I want you to amuse me. How about a game of dare? I can dare you to do anything and if you complete it, I’ll accept it as a contract.”
...
“Hah!” Oggy grinning through the laughter. Chest rising and falling heavily as he was shaking his head. “‘Fraid the thought already crossed my mind a bit with this, but whatever shadow mage worked over this deck it only ever pulls one card. Quite literally.” Oggy pulled another card to demonstrate, again the lone dragon face stared out. “It teleports every time you pull a card,” He set the dragon face up, pulled another card to show how the card face up shifted from an ace of claws to a regular five of hearts while the newly pulled card again showed the lone dragon face. “Frustrating is what it is.” He paused, before adding. “Course It’s also bound to be useful, entertaining at least.”
He sat back, let Priya think over her offer, or whatever else was running through her head. For a hot second Oggy almost forgot this was a pitch for a job. It was all that silly talk about the deck, sitting, drinking, and bullshitting like on any other day; It was of course impossible to forget that this wasn’t any other day with Priya looking as prim and put together as she was. Discerning, calculating, of a higher class than his normal bar companions, and he could tell that he was of a lower class than Priya normally knocked one back with. He leaned forward, elbows on the table completely captivated now that she was talking fees. “That sounds more’n fair to me.” He grinned back at her, all he could do not to lick his his lips hungrily. “I’m always game for a bit of fun. Go on. Dare me,” He reached for a drink, knocking it back before wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. “I’m game for anything, aren’t I? For the sake of our contract.”
