to be planted: rosemary, marigold, dill, cosmo, zinnea, cherry tomato, whatever those colourful spears are called
sooooo many gorgeous cabbages to harvest seeds from this year 💚🌱 growing them next to calendula REALLY helped imo! all the aphids and pests are on those and none on the cabbages (so far🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽) any damage on the cabbages have been from leaf cutter bees making nests in my container pots or the free ranging chickens 😬🐔

Szczególnie ten drugi ujmuje mnie swoimi kielichami. Dalej mój żarnowiec, pięknie już kwitnie. Obok rosnące jeszcze od czasów dziadków goździki. Te są dzielne i pięknie się same rozkrzewiają. Teraz już takich nie produkują.
I thought I got enough mulch for the whole rose garden, but it barely covered half! Nevertheless, this centerpiece side of the garden will require much less weed-pulling now that it's covered in pine bark.
The last few years I've relied on chipdrop for my mulching, which is very nice and very free and very much mulch, but pure woodchips look a bit too ugly for my 🌹❤️ rose garden ❤️🌹 so I wanted something a little darker, a little more refined. Plus it is an awful lot of work to move fresh, wet, fine, heavy woodchips, and I haven't been quite at full health muscle wise recently. being able to throw 20 pound bags of bark exactly where I need them, then cutting the bag open with a box cutter was much less intense of a workout.
a tiny weevil has been on my disco floor of a computer monitor for ten minutes now
The first bloom on my Illinois climbing rose Rosa setigera. It has approximately 100 more waiting in the wings :)
Garden Update 🌸
Woohoo! A break in the storms before more this weekend. To be clear, I prefer stormy weather, but I haven’t been to see my garden in twenty years at this point.
May I take you on a tour? Please look at my sweet, little struggling tomatoes who are doing much better than I thought they would. I have been through emotional warfare over these when I should have just been patient and grateful.
GREEN BEANS. Everywhere. One of my larger plants completely broke in the 60mph winds yesterday so rip baby, and thanks for the beans. Okra is growing taller - some bitten spots, but I’m not stressing right now.
Maybe not the best pics, but I was losing light and staring open-mouthed at the massive pine tree that fell from the storms…thankfully into the woods. The ground has been SO saturated that hundreds of trees and many power lines were down yesterday. Thankfully my power came back on.
Also enjoy the terribly invasive yet beautiful mimosa tree and her blooms. Oh, there’s also a zucchini in the making!!!!
Tomatoes are starting to have flower buds!
Kale harvest ❤️
