“Aren’t you an ANGEL?” Ryan beamed as she filled up another shot glass as she shot it back. “I’m not really a big drinker, but there’s not a lot to do around here now that all of my projects are finished.” It was a lie, she didn’t NEED to turn in any projects, because she was a ghost. “Just trying to liven up this place, y'know?”

“I never drank much at all until I came here, but... well, it is rather fun at times, isn’t it?” She grinned, grabbing another glass. She’d been careful to stay within her limits, but that didn’t mean she didn’t go hard when she decided to let loose. “And I get that. Sometimes it does get a bit quiet around here.”

“Oh, are you a musician? That’s so awesome. What kind of music and art do you do? And yeah, it definitely does. I suppose at least it’s not too gigantic. I know there’s definitely larger universities, but still. It’s a change.”

“Oh no! I keep telling myself I won’t do that this time. I was horrible for that in high school. Drove my mom up the wall,” she said, shaking her head.

“Oh yeah okay.  It just seems like your whole world got flipped upside down.”  He nodded thoughtfully.  “Well; unfortunately you wound up in one of if not the most haunted school in Canada.”

“Great,” she said with a sigh. “Do you know.. do you know if it was haunted beforehand? Was there something about it before the... well, the incident? Or was it only afterwards that it became a hotspot, as it were?”

“Well.. yeah..” Madigan sighed. “I don’t think there’s a special set of rules for them. Besides, when have you ever heard of a friendly ghost story, that wasn’t for children?” She added with a shrug. “Just be careful. I don’t know if they’re all like the one I met, but.. I’d never been so scared in my life.”

“That’s...” Olivia shivered, trying not to look as scared as she felt. “Okay. Yeah, I’ll... I’ll be careful.” Maybe it wasn’t that out of line for her to be so wary about the supernatural element of this college. She’d been suspicious from the start, but she’d been trying to talk herself out of it. “How’d you get away then? When it grabbed you?”

“Is it winter break yet? I’m so exhausted” Wes groaned as he rubbed his hands over his face. “I swear this paper is going to be the end of me. I lived a good life. Tell my fiancee to remember me fondly.”

“What class is it for?” Olivia looked over at the rather distraught-looking man. “I’ll have to make note to never sign up for it if this is how people taking it end up looking towards the end of the semester.”

“Is there alcohol in this?” Ryan asked as she took the shot glass, knocking it back before pulling a sour face. “Yes, yes, there is. Ugh. Anyway, are you gonna party with me or am I going to have to drink ALONE?”

Olivia raised an eyebrow before grinning. “Yeah, I’m down for drinking.” She grabbed another shot glass and poured some liquor into it, throwing it back with only a slight grimace. “Can’t have you drinking alone after all.”

“Well, I’m just warnin’ you, you probably don’t wanna go any further. I went down that hallway once, and I kid you not, some ghost grabbed me, and threatened to kill me. I wouldn’t chance it.”

“Threatened to kill you? And grabbed you? They... they can do that? I haven’t really run into any yet, but they’re... that hostile?” She shivered.

“I’m Olivia. I don’t think I’ve run into you before... but then the campus is rather large. My high school only had about fifty people in the graduating class, so I’m not used to this yet.”

“You hoped it was just talk?”  He laughed a little.  He could fuck with her, if he was that type.  He was playful and impish, but not malicious.  “You afraid of ghosts, I take it, then?”

“Not.. not scared, exactly, just...” she shrugged. “Maybe a little uneasy at the idea.” She didn’t really understand what it mean, or what caused them to stay. “I mean... growing up I always thought ghosts were just scary stories that people tell kids, you know? And now... it’s strange to suddenly realize that what you’d thought wasn’t real actually is.”

“Well, you wandered into the family building area,” Sky peered at the redhead before nodding. “Not a problem though, could be worse, could have wound up in the basement of the school or something. I wouldn’t recommend that by the way.”

“Ah, well I guess I’m lucky it wasn’t anywhere worse...” She shook her head, laughing at herself. “I should really pay more attention to where I’m going. Sometimes I just get so lost in my head... Sorry if I interrupted your day. Promise I didn’t mean to.”

“Well, you’ve wound up in the-” Baz paused here to wiggle his fingers ominously at her.  “Haaaunted wiiiing.”  He cracked a grin at her, cocking his head slightly.  “You know the school is haunted, right?”

“I, um...” Olivia bit her lip, trying not to show that the idea unnerved her. “Yes, I might have heard that. Though I haven’t really...” she trailed off, waving a hand vaguely. A part of her had hoped that the haunting rumors were just that—rumors, to make the school sound more exotic. Though by now most of her realised that was a pipe dream.

“That might mean trouble; I hear it’s haunted.” She smiled. “Actually, I haven’t heard that at all. But it looks like it might be. Wouldn’t you agree? Oh, but those doors up there are locked. I don’t think you can go any further. Unless you feel like breaking in.”

Olivia tried not to pale at the idea that she might have wandered into someplace haunted. “Yeah, maybe...” she said with a nervous laugh. “Though breaking things probably isn’t the best idea. If it’s a dead end, how did you end up down here?” She seemed to at least be more perceptive that Olivia had been when she’d wandered down.
