You need to stop hurting people just because you’re hurt.

alexbeatty:
“ your hair really does look impeccable, ” she starts, and notes how the person actually being addressed doesn’t seem too keen on moving. “ but you know, going out on your own isn’t the worst thing of all time. in fact, it can be really nice. ” then again, alex has always been a fan of basking in moments of solitude and that’s gotten more appealing to her in recent years. as much as she loves her kids, a house as busy as theirs makes it hard to hear her own thoughts sometimes.
"Thank you!” she replied, accepting the compliment happily. She thought about going out without Alex. With so many siblings close in age to her and her obsession with keeping people close, Emmy was not often alone. “Where do you go out on your own?” She inquired, wondering how that could possibly be fulfilling.
hcwlingwclves:
an eyebrow raised at emmy’s words, silently reaching into her pocket. “then these might help,” she grinned, waving a little baggie of pills in the air. “c’mon, though, i’m not popping pills in your house. your sister would kill me.”
Emmy’s eyes widened at the pills. At this point, her body had become accustomed to alcohol and weed. But she had just recently become interested in other drugs, and typically, pills were her top choice. “Well fuck, let’s pop them in the driveway then,” she said with a smile. “Or in my car. Or on the beach. I’ll venmo you.”
oftonys:
not only was he on his phone and slumped on the couch , but anthony was a little shocked when his sister threw her phone onto the carpet. “ emmy , not if you’re gonna whine about it that’s for sure. what if i don’t want to ? i find this hilarious. ” he teasingly stated as he sat up on the couch. “ tell me more. ”
"That would be typical, you never want to do anything with me,” Emmy complained. She stretched out her arms and began brainstorming ideas of what adventure she could drag her brother along to. “I just want to do something to get out of this house. You know it drives me crazy to sit here. Want to get drunk and go hiking or something?”
renegcdesovls:
“Of course I’d be down!” Cami exclaimed, perking up. “It’s been a really long time since I’ve just gone out and went on a hike. Too long, really. Is there a specific one you want to go to?”
"Hell yes,” Emmy exclaimed, immediately jumping up to grab her hiking sandals. “I know one that’s kind of by here, no one’s ever at it. The hike isn’t too bad, and it’s deep enough to swim at.”

attention sucked into the little phone in her hand, she only glanced up when emmy was done whining. “okay, what do you wanna do then? ‘cause we’re sitting here because we couldn’t figure it out.”
Emmy tapped her fingers on her phone, trying to come up with ideas. “I don’t know,” she admitted. She had been restless for a few days now; every time she sat down, she felt like she was wasting time. “I just want to be high or drunk or something. And I want to not be in this house.”
kaseywtf:
“colorado,” she nodded softly when she asked where she was from. “lived there for fifteen years. it’s… a lot of snow. i’d be fine if i never saw it again, really. guess i can’t complain,” she laughed quietly. “i guess i’m lucky my parents don’t give me drugs. i don’t know if i would’a turned out the same way,” she chuckled, trying to backtrack after she saw the girl’s hesitation upon her comment.
"So do you like Hawaii better than Colorado?” Emmy asked, emerging from her parents’ bathroom. She held a few baggies in one hand and her glass pipe in the other. Her mother had purchased it for her when she was thirteen, unbeknownst to her sister Riley, who certainly would have had words with them both about it. “I take what I can get. Druggie parents means free weed,” she commented, sitting back down on her couch to pack the bowl. “Are you a sativa or an indica girl?”
renegcdesovls:
Cami had been in a haze, lost in her own world as she scrolled through her twitter feed. It had been a distraction, that’s for certain. She turned her head at Emmy’s words and attempted to pull herself out of her funk a bit. “You are having a good hair day,” she agreed with a chuckle. “I’ll bite. Where do you want to go?”
"You are too sweet,” Emmy responded, beaming in response to the compliment. “Let’s do something outside! Like hike to a waterfall or something, would you be down?”
kaseywtf:
“well, i was a mainlander. for most of my life. only been here a few years. it takes some getting used to,” she shrugged. “you don’t ever wish you had, like, snow? have you ever even seen snow?” she tilted her head to the side curiously. “your parents? damn. lucky. mine would kill me if i asked,” she laughed softly.
Emmy thought about snow for a minute, about her life on the little island. Her family had never really had enough money to travel around. She’d been to Oahu, but not much further. "Nah, I’ve never seen snow,” she admitted. “I don’t really wish we had it, I love it here. But I’d like to see it someday I guess. Where on the mainland are you from?” Kasey’s next comment almost made Emmy laugh. She was not sure she’d ever heard parents and lucky in the same sentence. She thought about telling Kasey the truth, but didn’t want to scare her away. “Uhh, yeah, they’re pretty cool. They don’t really care what I do.” She settled with that answer and headed towards her parents’ bathroom, looking in the cabinets for their stash.
xtinefaricy:
“ oh my god i’m so glad you finally said something. ” chrissy laughed, pretending to be relieved. “ i vote for like day on the beach or at least out somewhere i can at least start getting tan ready for summer. ”
“Yes!” Emmy agreed enthusiastically, immediately jumping up from her place on the couch. “Come cliff jumping with me. We’ll be out in the sun, but it’ll be much more fun than laying on the beach.”
kaseywtf:
“well, yeah. doesn’t mean you get used to it,” kasey shrugged. the heat was one of her least favorite parts about the island. but she couldn’t complain. “good question. everyone’s always, like, doing stuff on the beach. the only places inside are, like, restaurants. mall sounds good to me, though. smokings an added bonus.”
"You sound like a mainlander when you complain about the heat like that,” Emmy joked. “I’m dry, but I know my parents probably have a few grams stashed somewhere. Lemme go look in their bathroom. Then we can smoke a bowl and hit up the food court.”
brcvesouls:
“You make a good point, kid.” Melissa replied with a small laugh. “What’d you have in mind?” She asked.
"I know I do,” Emmy responded. She started brainstorming ideas of what she and her mother could do — they hardly spent time together alone, and especially not outside of the house. “We could make like Lana and get high by the beach,” she suggested. Emmy wasn’t sure if her mother knew that she smoked, but she was eighteen. She figured it was practically a guarantee by now.
brcvesouls:
“I honestly didn’t think you’d wanna be seen anywhere with me.” Melissa let out a small chuckle as she stayed put. “I’d better not though, I don’t think Riley would like the idea very much.”
“Yeah, well... no one’s responding to my texts, so my options are limited right now.” Emmy chose her words carefully. Her mother had almost backed her into a compliment, which Emmy rarely ever offered her. “Hold up, since when have you cared about what Riley wants?”
kaseywtf:
kasey eyed her from the couch, rolling her eyes at her melodramatics. “it’s not nice outside,” she shook her head, “it’s, like, ten thousand degrees. global warming and shit,” she nodded to the window. “i’ll go anywhere with a/c. that’s my one condition.”
"Ten thousand degrees? Welcome to a normal ass day in Hawaii, get used to it,” Emmy shot back. She loved the heat; anything as long as it wasn’t dark and gloomy outside. She also knew she wouldn’t argue any further with Kasey, she didn’t want to lose an opportunity to go out and about. “Okay, a/c... what the hell is there to do inside around here? I forget, do you smoke? We could get high and go to the mall.”
hiddcntruth:
it is one of riley’s few days off. thank god for netflix so she can catch up on the latest of riverdale. the brunette is so relaxed that she ( almost ) drowns out her younger sister. “ i get that em, ” she initially remarks sympathetically. “ sophia is napping right now though we can’t just leave her alone. ”
Emmy rolled her eyes. Riley was always so caught up in imagined responsibilities. She flipped herself onto her stomach to face her sister. “She’s, like, nine years old,” Emmy protested. “At some point you have to stop treating her like a baby. Mom and dad left you alone with us all the time when you were her age. She can handle it.”
