im starting to think that "women's spaces" is a transphobic dog whistle, and hear me out here. can you think of a single space that NEEDS to be exclusively women, or that excluding trans men and nonbinary people wont hurt? like the gynecologist, domestic violence resources, homeless resources, fertility/reproductive resources, queer spaces, the women's restroom (in a transphobic society where trans men are among the highest risk groups of sexual assault, some trans men are gonna need to use the womens restroom), abortion clinics are all examples of spaces that are widely considered to be womens only spaces but excluding trans men and nonbinary people (and lets be honest, trans women as well, womens only spaces are just as much a terf dogwhistle as it is a transandrophobic dog whistle) can (and do!) literally kill trans men systemically, or at the very least fails to protect trans men. like honest to god i cant think of a single womens only space that needs to exist besides like. women just wanting to hang out with other women. and even then, how do yall feel about butches and other masculine women?
