AND JUST TOO MUCH INFORMATION.
though an intelligent young person, and intuitive too, jenny regularly betrays their best interests with their impulsivity and their sometimes obsessively loyal nature. that's how they ended up in their current predicament, and how they've ended up in most predicaments in their life.
jenny has never had much goal for their future, rather just taking themselves where life led them. oftentimes allowing the people around them to make decisions and for them to simply follow after because they'd like to stay with them. when they were nineteen their best friend wanted to move and so jenny moved too. leaving behind life they knew with ease, for the only certainty they needed was their friendship. they followed this friend through another four moves over the years until they ended up in vancouver a little over two years ago.
however, who among us can write a character without a little trauma hmm?? only a few months after their arrival in vancouver, their friend was bitten by a werewolf. and of course, jenny was shit scared. but less so of the creature itself, but of losing their friend to whatever this was. they tried to research but found dead ends as often as they found more questions. and all this time, their friend was naturally trying to push jenny away. their friendship, as codependent as it was, wasn't remembered during the full moon.
four moon cycles later, jenny had made a decision. there was only one way to understand what was happening to their friend, only one way to help. they had to be bitten themselves. or at least, that was the conclusion they had come to. a conclusion they kept from their friend, for obvious reasons. when their friend turned again, instead of keeping their distance, they put themselves in total danger.
when their friend found out what jenny had done, she was immediately furious. obviously. who wouldn't be? but jenny stood by, and still stands by it was the only thing they could do to better understand and better help – unfortunately they never got a chance to prove that, as before the next full moon, their friend left them. either to get away from jenny specifically, or to try and avoid hurting anyone else, they can't be sure but they certainly carry a huge amount of guilt for the way she felt she had to leave.
due to all of this: yes, jenny is aware of their condition but not much else about the supernatural world beyond theory. they are not very good at controlling it so they attempt to distance themselves (or if they can't, they'll try and physically contain themselves) both physically once a month and emotionally constantly with everyone they meet teehee <3

despite the scent hitting her senses quickly and precisely, it took her a moment for her mind to react, yet the distinctive smell and feeling, for once, wasn’t one robin felt cautious about. hence the smile skimming her features when she turned around, trying to be restrained in tight-lapped lips, wasn’t really a surprise, on the contrary, it was such a natural thing for her in the presence of those that made her feel at ease that it only grew at the sight of jenny. “ you don’t need to be cheeky, ” she scolded, but the reprimand lacked the bite robin intended it to have when it mixed with the contained laugh in her words. “ i just … ” felt a pull towards this place, she wanted to say, but jenny couldn’t know that, so she looked away from a moment, exhaling calmly, before walking to the bench and letting herself fall casually and a little bit exhausted by jenny’s side. “ i was … curious, i guess ? ” the doubt in her words was one she directed more to herself than to her werewolf friend. “ didn’t you ? or you’re often inclined to sacrifice your safety in order to get a good spot for reading ? ”
Jenny's lips twitched briefly with a smile as they were scolded, glad their joke had been received well. Glad to hear a little joy on what was otherwise a morbid day. They heard the hesitation in Robin's answer, but stayed quiet in wait for her to finish her thoughts– though it'd be a lie to say they weren't intrigued, even concerned maybe, by the pause. They started with a nod in response, a show of understanding, but a show that was cut short to make another joke. " Oh, the latter. Definitely the latter. " They said, though they felt their enthusiasm misplaced more so than their first joke. " Sorry, I'll stop, " Their hand tightened briefly around their book. They didn't know how to explain their draw to the crime scenes, first the university and now here. It was part morbid curiosity, and part something much deeper. Like they were a twig caught in a powerful river current. " I guess, yeah, curiosity. " They allowed, not quite guarded like their friend but just a little lost for the right words. " Just wondering what happened, like everyone else, probably. " They said. A soft beat passed before they pat the spot on the bench next to them, inviting them to join. " You, like, feeling okay? About it all? "
a sigh, tired and frustrated and utterly annoyed, found its way through her lips, marking her defeat. her shoulders slumped and the pad of her fingers found her closed eyes, rubbing them with care, chagrin staining the back of her throat at the sight of stanley park’s entrance sign in front of her. you shouldn’t be here, she reminded herself, even when her feet carried her inside regardless, through the sidewalks, into the mass of trees that covered the source of something that tickled the nape of her neck and made her fingers twist restlessly against the side of her thighs. the surge of energy from the night before still vibrated through her body, making her eager, faster, and by the time her steps came to a halt, she was somewhere too distant from where hanna’s body had been found to make any sense. “ so, uhm … ” robin murmured, confusion knitting her eyebrows together. “ what the actual fuck. ” the question fell quietly, thinking herself alone, and a breathy laugh evidencing her incredulity reverberated softly among the trees surrounding her.
Sitting just inside the park's entrance, Jenny was paying little attention to the coming and going of others. Maybe every now and then they'd lift eyes from their book, try and scare someone off from joining them on the park bench with simply a dull look. Hearing yet another person enter, they weren't going to look up initially but then something ... felt familiar and interest couldn't resist. They stayed quiet and observed Robin for a moment, paperback closing around their finger so they wouldn't lose their place. " Right? " They called out, responding to the words that were likely said to Robin's own self. " Some girl dies and you're wandering around on your own? Totally fucked up. " They said, a joke– kind of. Their irony was intentional, at the least, as they were also alone in the park. " What'cha doin'? " They ask after a beat, curiosity forever getting the best of them.

Gemma grabbed her pen and paper and made her way through the campus, attempting to catch up with the security. There was a few bodies found drained of their blood and she knew what that meant... vampires.
She followed them closely and stopped at the yellow tape. She clicked her tongue and quickly started to write down what she saw before she was asked to leave before they called the proper authorities.
It wasn't a shock, the vampires usually fed on young students. She sighed, quickly jotting down some more notes before smiling politely at the other standing close to her. "It's a shame about these students, isn't it. Did you happen to know them at all?" She asked with a small smile. "I mean... since you're standing here." Gemma continued.
Arms crossed over their body as they observed the scene. Or rather, observed what they could see of the scene from the yellow tape that prevented them from getting any closer. Which was, admittedly, very little. Mainly they were trying to listen out for names, or even descriptors of victim and attacker. Listening for anything familiar. Nothing so far, but they had always been persistant.
Head turned when someone spoke, taking in the blonde now by their side. Immediately eyes were drawn to the notepad. They shook their head in response to the question. " No. I don’t think so. " They answered, figuring they probably looked like they could be a student. Not totally out of place. " Did you? " They asked in return, " Since you're standing here. " They added on, repeated her words back to her in sardonic sort of manner.
