I love that he has yet to sing, as well. I don’t think we’ll see him sing until he has learned to make a real emotional connection to something. (Meanwhile, Melissa is singing about corn puddin’ almost immediately).

I love that I see people pointing out that it seems like emotional connections are a part of the singing. I feel like this has been represented since the first scene of the show: Melissa is delivering a baby and talking to the mother, encouraging her; she's very connected to who she's working with. Josh is operating on someone, who obviously has to be asleep. He doesn't have to talk or interact. He cares and helps them (probably) but doesn't have to have a human connection with them. It's cool that even their jobs are thematic in showing their differences.
