She was just fucking annoying. “Can’t even get your boyfriend to keep it in his pants, and you think you can tell me what to do? Now that, that is fucking rich.”

they ended up in a fancy boutique, far too fancy for the likes of bennett. as he stayed in the safety of lily’s shadow, his wide eyes darted this way and that, until a woman bennett could only presume was andrea joined them, a stack of clothing in her arms. lily rifled through them, and bennett took the condensed pile from her in return, eyeing the items wearily. “are you sure about this?” he asked, trudging towards the fitting rooms. “i mean, i trust your fashion judgement. but i don’t trust that i’ll look good in any of these.. fancy things.”
“Well, I’ve never met a man, woman, or pet that didn’t look good in Gucci, and with that face, I very much doubt that you’ll be the first,” she said simply. There it was, yet another compliment. Lily could not deny the man was good looking. And she’d managed to set him up on a date with someone equally hot, so it made sense that she helped him get dressed up for it. “It’s all pretty lowkey. Smart casual, you won’t be underdressed or overdressed. And these clothes would look pretty on the bedroom floor, but don’t let Andrea hear me say that. Now, will you go try them on, or do you need a Madonna song to do a movie montage moment?”

Minus the costume because she freaked out the last time she actually saw Santa at the mall.” Tj shrugged his shoulders and then nodded his head when she spoke about his three year old being easy to impress. It was good when they were young because they weren’t so picky with what they got for Christmas. “Glad you enjoy the vibe. I worked real hard on this place. Would have had to change the entire lighting of this place if you didn’t like it.” he joked. “Sure, I have to try and be nice about it when it’s time to kick them out. “What’s being a dad like?” she asked curiously, trailing off topic a bit. “I wouldn’t come here if I didn’t like it, trust me,” she reassured him. She was an opinionated woman, and she wouldn’t put herself through something she wasn’t into. She liked this bar, the crowd was different than the usual stuffy old people she was used to, which she didn’t mind. Lily stood up from the bar and walked over to turn the music down abruptly, as well as turning the lights on as bright as she could, absolutely killing the mood. “Well, I’m sure you all have somewhere better to be now, so off you all go,” she pointed towards the door. “Last call was twenty minutes ago, come on,” the woman said, waving her hand as the few people left in the bar started stepping out. She turned to Tj with a smile.

My daughter is three, and up until now, she wasn’t exactly old enough to understand Christmas. This year is different. Naturally, if someone made a comment on his business, he was immediately interested. “Would you like to step outside for a moment? The moonlight will probably let you see clearer.” he set the cloth down and extended his hand over the counter to shake hers. “Pleasure, Lily.”
“Oh, so you’re Santa Claus this year?” she asked with a soft smile. “Well, I don’t know too much about three year olds, but you know, she’s three. I’m sure she’ll be impressed either way,” she added in. “The light’s fine, dear. It’s supposed to be dim and whatnot, it’s the vibe,” she chuckled. “Yeah, I’ll step out with you when you’re all done. Can I be the one to kick the rest of the people out, though?”
