Hi! I don't have a shortcut for this, unfortunately. I'm not a very methodical person, so I can't really force it through process. I let myself do other things I love, and through that I find inspiration that'll reignite my creativity. It helps me avoid burnout but it's also the reason why I have huge years long gaps between projects.
My book is coming out next year, so I wanted to share this spread that I really like!

Hi, Friends! It’s been so long since I’ve been on here, but with the recent Tumblr chaos, I just wanted to pop-in and give y’all an update of where you can find me!
So the most exciting update is that my middle-grade graphic novel is coming out April 17th of next year!!

It’s about a girl named Willow who runs away from home. She befriends a lil’ lost forest spirit named Pilu and they try to find their way back home. It’s a short story, but I put my whole dang heart in it, so I hope you’ll enjoy it.

2017 HOURLIES! I DUN IT! IT’S LATE, BUT I DUN IT!
I followed my 5 year hourlies tradition and didn’t follow the rules :P I sketched them the day of, but it took me forever to find time to ink and scan them. But hourlies are one of my favorite things, cause I remember this day SO clearly every year, just cause of the micro-journaling. As someone who sometimes floats in a fog, it’s nice to have this one day that seems like yesterday all the time...even if they are often mundane and ordinary! It’s so fun to see how my day-to-day has changed—from people to habits to thoughts to perspectives to etc etc etc

Thanks for answering my last question! For the outlines of the panels themselves, do you use a ruler or just freehand it? Bc the lines look so organic and natural, but I don't have a steady enough hand to draw panels without a ruler. That was long winded, sry :3
I use a ruler when I’m sketching! But I freehand it when I ink. So things are still straight but just a tad wobbly :) Also I hate using rulers, so I try to use it as little as possible :P
How do you draw/make your panels for comics? Specifically for Little Ghost? They're so precise, and I can never get mine to look the same :3

Hmmm, that’s such a broad question, I’m not entirely sure how to answer it in a helpful way. If you could be more specific, I can probably give you a better answer?
But for Little Ghost, all I did was sketch it with pencil, ink over it, scan it, and color it in photoshop.
Here are what the pages look before I scan them. I used a Pilot Razor Point for inking. I’ve used different pens/brushes for every comic I’ve drawn so far, but I thought a finer and cleaner line would go well for this story.
And then...I guess I just clean up the scans and block in the colors. As a general rule when I’m choosing colors, I try to limit the color palette as much as possible to keep things looking consistent and simplify the process. I start with 2 warm colors and 2 cool colors. And then I play around with the color balance and curves configurations before settling on a solid color palette.
That’s it! And it’s the same process for any comic I do. Feel free to ask more specific questions if you have any! :D

Ahh thank you! I sketch and ink traditionally but color digitally! But I'm trying to get into watercolor and colored pencils so we shall see how that goes! 😁
We hiked along Point Reyes and I can’t stop thinking about the colors of our coast. The poppies are ridiculous!? I didn’t think saturation like that existed in the color gamut of this dimension.
And I’m STILL using colored pencils as the biggest crutch ever (this was supposed to be a watercolor illo????)
