I’ve seen SO many people complain about how Pokémon Lets Go Pikachu/Eevee. So here’s my thoughts/opinions about it.
First off, lets get this out of the way right now:
THE GAME IS A SPIN-OFF, NOT AN OFFICIAL NEW RELEASE FROM THE ORIGINAL SERIES.
This should say enough, the game is not a remake, not a new release, it’s something NEW. This means that there will be another new release for the series semi-soon.
Secondly, people say there’s too many restrictions/changes. No wild battles, gym battles having level restrictions, too much help, making the game too easy, yada yada.
The reason they do this, is because PLGP/E is supposed to be a gapcloser between the main series and Pokemon Go. Pokemon Go got super popular and all Nintendo wants is an easy, more complete game for players new or semi-new (aka casual pokemon go players), to get into.
First I was surprised too, not like the game is THAT difficult. But then when you think about it. People who grew up with the games, we grew up in a generation where difficult games was considered normal, games were made as a challenge and less for pure entertainment. Many games were never completely finished as a result. These days most games are easy, forgiving and honestly just way less challenging. PEOPLE ARE USED TO CASUAL GAMES. Imagine these people having to learn about type advantages, learning about moves, learning what STAB damage is, having to deal with HM’s, grinding levels for gyms they don’t have a great team for. Taking account for PP. Knowing what status effects do.
THIS IS ALOT OF INFO TO LEARN ABOUT.
I’m not saying people now wouldn’t be able to do this, but they most likely wouldn’t enjoy it.
Third, as I said first, this is a spin-off from the official pokemon series. This one is closer to the anime, in the world of Ash. Brock, Misty, Team Rocket, etc… all come back to PLGP/E more detailed and similar then ever.
The main series is infact NOT based on Ash, but on “Red”. Which explains why we see Brock/Misty just as gym leaders and see Team Rocket, but never see Jessie and James. It’s all very similar, but not the same.
CONCLUSION:
This game is NOT made for us, veteran players…
Pokémon Lets go Pikachu/Eevee, is for new people to try out and get closer to the Pokémon series from an easy, casual angle.
It’s a gapcloser for new players to get into Pokémon, and then perhaps pick up a more “difficult” game, from the main series.
AND WE SHOULD EMBRACE THIS.
We can say what we want, but the Pokémon franchise really hasn’t attracted many new people, not because “the new ones suck” or anything. The generation just doesn’t follow with the typical gameplay that the main series offer. So this is a way for Nintendo to attract new people to this lovely and amazing franchise.

PS: Although I agree it’s stupid that Nintendo doesn’t let us evolve our starters, no idea what’s up with that. I know Pikachu from the anime doesn’t evolve, but the Eevee from Gary does. So??
