Guys, PLEASE don’t treat this as an admirable decision. What this change basically amounts to is a HUGE amount of overtime for the animators without any delays in the release schedule nor changes to the budget, it’s a decision HE can make bc it won’t personally affect him but it will affect the animators. Even worse, supporting this decision could send the message to other companies that we’ll support practices like this in the future.
It actually won’t. The actual animation is not changing, the model its being applied to is changing. Thats not what animators do, thats what artists and modellers do, the lions share of the work is theirs. Its not going to be zero work, because nothing ever is, but there are numerous professionals who responded to that tweet pointing out how its actually not a hugely difficult or undoable job for CGI, because they’re just going to apply the animation they already have to a new model and touch it up where they need to. We SHOULD support practices like this in future, we SHOULD support companies actually listening to their audiences and providing a better quality product/service as a result beforehand, not cocking it up and issuing an apology after. So lets not try and drag down this godsend of a change with phrases like “huge overtime” or imply its going to be ruinous to anyone (especially based on no evidence) because according to actual animators who work on films like this, that is simply not true.

That’s not how 3D models work, to ‘touch up a model requires far more than what it implies, a 3D model has working parts that break when ‘touched up’
There are bones inside a model attached to skin and rigs, you have to remake the bones if the change is drastic enough (eg: the height of the character for example) you can’t just use the same bones by expanding or shortening the length, even reseting the x form has it’s limits and if there are any previous animations done with it, it retains that and makes things go awry), redoing bones would require skinning, the rigs could possibly be recycled and re-linked the model would be re-textured, re-lit and re-rendered which, over all, can be a very difficult and time consuming process.
Although I’ve done some animation at school, I have never done it professionally so I’ll not speak on that end of the pipeline but people who say it’s only a matter of ‘tweaking’ the model and that everything else just conforms to this tweaked model without issue are not industry professionals, industry professionals are actually trying to prevent more people from thinking this is how it works and are speaking against the change.

Like I am not saying you’re a bad person for not talking about it just that it’s, like, legitimately one of the most baffling political events I have ever witnessed in my life.
Long story short, Volodymir Zelensky - A comedian with no political experience to speak of decided to run against Petro Poroshenko, Ukraine’s extremely unpopular and hated incumbent president, working largely off of his role in one popular Ukrainian sitcom called “Servant of the People”, where he plays a Mr. Smith Goes to Washington type character who gets randomly elected as president and fights hard against the corruption to be an honest leader.
Other than piggybacking off of the success of his sitcom, he largely avoided public speeches and interviews, he offered pretty much no policy platform whatsoever beyond extremely vague platitudes, and refused to state specifically what he plans to do if he got elected as president.
So despite the fact that this guy has no political experience, gave very few interviews, held few political rallies, largely campaigned only on social media and has been extremely cryptic about what his actual policy plans are, he managed to win first place with around 30% of the vote on the first round of elections, and won the second round against Poroshenko with seventy-three percent of the vote.
His landslide was so huge that he won over 90% of the vote in some districts.
Imagine being Petro Poroshenko and not only losing this hard, but losing this hard to a television comedian with no real political goals whatsoever

Humans Are Weird: Vampires
A short and sweet story of an alien, Glaza’s, first interaction with the human sub-species, our blood-sucking relatives, the vampires and how aliens react to their new immortal, blood drinking, shapeshifting, pale-as-hell friend.
Ever since human-Vladislav was transferred here from Transylvania, after the rule about every exploration vessel have at least one human aboard in case of emergency; but Vladislav was strange, even by human standards, from his pale skin and hair to his bright red eyes, at first I had thought it was a case of human albinism. But ever since he arrived strange occurrences started to appear all around the ship, lights around him started to flicker on and off, sightings of pitch black earth wolves and bats wandering around the ship and creates of human blood packs filled the cargo hold. I seemed to be the only one who had noticed that Vladislav was at the center of this, I had made up my mind to confront him.
Later as I made my way to his quarters I noticed a blanket of black smoke rising from the ground, a fire I thought, I wanted to run and warn the crew but something took hold of me as if I was paralyzed, soon the smoke swirled and took a humanoid form, its bright red eyes swirling and shining, it had no mouth but said only one word, “Sleeeep.” Everything went black.
When I awoke I found myself in my own quarters with Vladislav pacing back and forth, but not on the floor but on the ceiling, I couldn’t hide my shocked gasp, and that’s when he had noticed me, “Ah, finally I see you’ve awakened from my trance,” he, before my unbelieving eyes transformed into an earth cat jumping from the ceiling to the flood then turning back into a human, though I highly dought he was even human.
“W-what are you?!” I asked with a trembling my voice.
“A vampire”
“What?”
“you’ve never heard of us, its to be expected,” he then started to float reclining in mid-air, ”You see, vampires are like humans, only we’re more supernatural and plain vanilla humans are all science and shit.”
“That still doesn’t explain all the weird and unexplained phenomena, the lights, the animals, the blood,-” he snapped his fingers and I couldn’t speak.
“please shut both of your two mouths for one damned second!” He began pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration, “Alright look, vampires aura messes with electricity, we can shapeshift, and we drink blood.”
“Y-you drink b-blood!?”
“Yes, though animal blood is a lot easier to have than human blood,” after hearing what he said, I then took the appropriate action any sane sentient life form would take.
[insert long incoherent screams of terror]: AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
“Please, stop screa-” I then punched him in the face and ran, “SONOFA- Fuck that hurt, Glaza get the hell back here I’m not gonna kill you, alien blood tastes terrible!”
[Glaza screaming more intensely now]: Don’t eat me!!!!!
As Vladislav chased after him he mumbled to himself, “Fuck my afterlife, this is gonna be so annoying to erase everyone’s memory after this.”

Hey all you Humans are Weird writers- why haven’t any of you written about how an entire generation is still defensive over Pluto’s loss of planetary status because we all collectively packbonded with a planet.

if your stomach’s sensitive because of anxiety, by all means spread out the food you eat over the course of the day instead of having large meals, just don’t…not eat. you will go into hypoglycemic shock and that will suck.
By the way, symptoms include:
Shakiness.
Nervousness or anxiety.
Sweating, chills and clamminess.
Irritability or impatience.
Confusion, including delirium.
Rapid/fast heartbeat.
Lightheadedness or dizziness.
Hunger and nausea.
(because of the nausea, eating might not feel like the thing to do at first. I’d suggest drinking a coke or something.)
I’ve dealt with sugar crashes before and I’ve collapsed and whited out. I’ve had friends do it too. If you think you’re going into hypoglycemic shock, and if there’s anyone else near by, tell them you think it’s happening, even if you’re not prone or it’s never happened before. If your’e alone, make your way slowly to the kitchen/wherever you have food/drinks. The standard rule is to take in 15 oz of a sugary drink (orange juice and soda–not diet–are the best) and wait 15 minutes to see if it’s over, then keep doing that until your sugar is stabilized. Then you can eat. If you think you’re about to collapse, especially if you start to feel dizzy, sit down and lay down or lean against something. Don’t risk injury, it’s better to pass out while you’re laying down than it is to collapse and hurt yourself.

If you are having trouble eating please keep in mind the BRATY diet. Bananas, Rice, Apple sauce, Toast, and (sometimes) Yogurt. These foods have been shown to be harder to throw up. By no means should this be the primary diet, but this can assist in the between times when it’s harder to keep things down.
