Man Gives Bear Hugs And Kisses. [video]
you can't not look at this and not feel at least a little bit happy.
The Beatitude Song with lyrics for kid's church. I do not own the song. The Beatitudes Song - The Church at Brook Hills
really uplifting song about the beatitudes :)
The Four Levels of Happiness
there are four levels of happiness, and each of these levels are achieved by receiving happiness in different ways. the four levels of happiness are laetus(finding happiness in a thing), felix(finding happiness in competing or how we measure up to others), beatitudo(finding happiness in the goodness of others, and doing good things for others), and sublime beatitudo(finding happiness in things that are beyond what we are capable of doing on our own). Sublime beatitudo is achieved by making a conscious choice to do so.

Guatemala has raised the minimum age for marriage to 18, but women's rights campaigners said enforcing the new law would be a challenge in a country where nearly one-third of girls are currently married by that age.
lets go!
What are Virtues?
The virtues in this chapter were split up into two groups theological (gifts from god), and Cardinal virtues (virtues given to us by nature). the Theological virtues are faith (believing without seeing), hope(being optimistic for the world in its constant struggle with morality), and charity or love (humans are created out of love for love). the cardinal virtues are prudence (practical wisdom), justice (recognizing and fighting for those whose rights are not being met), and temperance (moderation, regulating our appetite for the thing god has given us)
feel free to add upon these or reply if you would like! ~danielle

What is happiness, and how can we all get some? Biochemist turned Buddhist monk Matthieu Ricard says we can train our minds in habits of well-being, to generate a true sense of serenity and fulfillment.
Biblical Guidelines to Morality
the biblical guidelines to morality in can be summed up in the ten commandments, and the beatitudes which can all be found in the bible. The ten commandments are rules that tell us to avoid doing bad things or to abstain from “sin”. The beatitudes give us a sense of what we should do to lead a moral life, and they encourage us to do so through promises humility, and inner peace.

makes you think about how much respect that women get from other women and men. Because there is no way that you would hurt someone you respected physically in anyway.

as well as making us laugh it touches base on how making others happy can make us happy which is a major part in the third level of happiness.
The Negative Side of Moral Relativism
Moral relativism is the view that our standards of morality are dependent on our positions in society and that our opinions of right or wrong are culturally based and therefore subject to our individual choice. Moral relativism can’t work if you believe in the concept of human’s being created though, because all things that are created must follow a set of laws, and moral law states that everything goes. The negative side of this is that If our morals are dependant on everything around us that in some cases peoples morals could be completely heinous and backwards compared to the rest of the world. This also applies that in certain situations our morals could be subject to change, where things such as cannibalism, murder, or rape could be the right thing to do under certain circumstances (which they are most defintely not).
~Danielle
This map shows every state where women are more likely to live in poverty than men
Wait… hold up. Every state is colored in. That can’t be right… right?
Unfortunately, the map is accurate. And it’s especially problematic for millennial women, who are much more likely to have a bachelor’s degree or higher than millennial men, but who are consistently earning less living and living in poverty more.
Moral Relativism
Moral Relativism is a view that states that ethical standards, morality, and the idea of right and wrong are culturally based, and subject to an individual persons choice. Moral Relativism comes from our surroundings rather than our instincts. Moral Relativism says anything goes, and goes hand in hand with evolution. -Kimi
Philosophical approaches to Morality
The philosophical approaches to morality are: Utilitarianism (maximizing pleasure, minimizing pain), Categorical (when something is always inherently wrong or right), and Consequentialist (locating morality in the consequences of an act). -Kimi
Natural Law, what is it?
Natural Law is the ability to choose between right and wrong, it is something we are born with, and is an innate response to a situation. The notion that humans have this idea that we should all act in a certain way, but that a lot of us don’t follow our own rules. -Kimi
