“Oh! You…remember me.” The sudden outburst of the youth’s voice and his embrace had startled her, but it wasn’t as great as the shock to see him alive and well. All the more as it was evident that he has his memories of her. Her hands rested upon his shoulders as she gazed upon him, noting nothing has changed from what she remembers.

The knight would giggle with glee as he clinged tightly around her, "Of course I remember you, silly! You're my big sis, I had promised to protect you, how could I possibly forget you?! Boy, am I glad to see you though! Have you been doing well, sis?"

Zidane laid down beside him and held the Onion Knight’s hand as he wanted. He gave it a little squeeze before relaxing his grip. “It sure is a beautiful day… it’s just beautiful here. You have a wonderful home. I’m kind of jealous, actually! Even without your memory, you’re well taken care of, and I’m here for as long as you want me here. Do you… remember you name?”

The boy would lay back against the flowers as well next to Zidane, his hand still cupped around the thief's as he relaxed and looked up towards the sky, "Yeah, I guess it's pretty nice here aside from all the wild monsters. This is the one place I go when I really want to just be at peace." As the clouds in the sky slowly rolled past, the boy would laugh and point up at the one closest to them, "That one kinda looks like a moogle, doesn't it?" he would laugh again lightly as he cuddled up close beside Zidane, "Mm, nah. Onion has been the only name I've ever known up until now. I don't mind it all too much, and frankly, maybe it's best if I don't know. I mean, there must be a reason why I didn't get my memory back. Maybe it's better off that way." the knight would gently lay his head against Zidane's chest with a light yawn, feeling the cool breeze against them as he quietly listened to the thumping of Zidane's heart, "Honestly, I would leave here if I could, but I still have to protect the people here. It's my duty as a hero. Will you take me to see Lindbulm someday soon though?"

"Aaaah, Terra, Terra!!" the boy would squeal joyfully as he ran to tackle the fragile mage over in a big hug.

Zidane smiled as he was handed the flowers. “They’re beautiful,” Zidane said, and kissed the knight’s cheek. He listened through the story, and hugged him afterward. “Hey, Oniony. This place can still be your home. I know a thing or two about homes. It’s not what you remember. It’s where you can find comfort. Where it makes you happy. Some place you can be accepted. This place can be your home as much as you want it, too. And if not here, anywhere else. Hell, you could live with me in Lindblum if you wanted. Just do what makes you happy, Knight.” Zidane nuzzled him, hoping he was helping somehow.

The knight would turn red as his armor at Zidane's kiss, beaming happily at him. He would nuzzle back at Zidane as he let out a bit of a sigh, plopping himself down on the bed of flowers beneath their feet, patting the spot next to him for Zidane to sit there, "I mean, it's not like I hate it here or anything, it's just... I wish I remembered exactly who I was, you know? Everyone else got their memory back after the battle, but I'm still stuck searching for mine. I don't know who I am or what my purpose is exactly being here, but I do my best to get by anyways." the boy would lean back a little as he tilted his head up to the sky with a soft smirk, "But you know, even if I don't know who I was before, I at least know who I am right now. And that me is here with you, so that's all that matters, right?" the boy would turn to smile at the thief with a soft chuckle as his hand lightly reached over to grip Zidane's hand.

Who Am I? (Onion Knight x Arc)

The morning sun rose through the trees of the Living Woods and shone through the windows of the log cabin, which signaled the beginning of another routine morning for the boy known as the Onion Knight. As the small figure clambered to sit up in bed, still groggy and dazed with hair in disarray, he would stretch his arms with a loud yawn before rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He would sigh lightly as he began to climb out of bed before he would make his way towards the wardrobe that rested in the corner of his small room. Just like it had always been, day in and day out, opening the doors that contained within it the single memory that the knight ever knew.

Within the wardrobe, the young blonde would observe with careful eyes at the familiar red suit of armor that neatly sat before him. His mind would wander back to the question that rang clearly through his mind every morning as he awoke in this still unfamiliar world, 'Who am I?' he would ask himself like a record on repeat as he would begin to don the suit that had forever protected him and headed out the doors of his cabin to begin his day.

After the war against Chaos, every hero had been rightfully returned to the worlds they once came from and as promised, the goddess Cosmos had granted them back their memories that they had lost. Unlike everyone else though, who remembered at least some of their past during the time of the war, Onion had none. No recollection of his real name, of who he once was, why he wore the armor he did or knew the skills he knew. Nothing, not a single thing. Even though he so firmly believed that after they were returned home, he would be able to have all of those memories back, but that had not been the case at all. Doing the only thing he could do with no house or home to return to, he stumbled upon an unoccupied cabin within the forest that he now called his, and with what little gil he made from hunting wild monsters and animals in the woods selling to the local villagers, he could afford to live a semi-comfortable life despite the question that continued to loom over him.

The woods always the same and the path that he took every day, he would make his way down the man made trails of the people who once lived here, towards the small lake of which the forest river flowed. As he arrived upon the scene of the glistening water shrouded by the shades of trees and the loud sounds from the small waterfall that echoed through the tranquil forest. With a light smile, the knight would begin to strip from his armor and undergarments, happy to be relieved from the weight of them as his naked figure would dip in feet first followed by his entire self with a light splash as he sighed contently, enjoying his favorite time of day. The water was a bit colder today than usual, but his body quickly adjusted to it as he dove under and swam towards the direction of the waterfall. Upon reaching it, he would stand under the rushing water as he happily bathed, scrubbing at the dirt and grime that accumulated over the week from his hunting trips.

Zidane ran over there, as fast as he could with the little knight on his back. When he was there, he dropped to his knees so the knight could step off instead of having to hop off. “You’re already a great hero, and you can’t convince me otherwise.”

Upon arriving in the meadow and climbing off Zidane's back, the onion would immediately go scampering away, giggling as he ran through the bright field of flowers before them. He would quickly pluck a handful before skipping cheerfully back to Zidane and thrusting the disarrayed bouquet out to him, "Here!" he beamed with a huge smile as he gestured for Zidane to take it. "This is the meadow that I woke up in after I got back home... though I honestly don't think I can call this place home really at all, since I don't even remember any of it still." at the mention of this fact, the young boy's cheerful smile seemed to lower.  Although a sad fact, it was true. All the other heroes had regained their memory after returning home, but the knight had no memory to even return to because he believed that he didn't have one in the first place.

"Twin!" The young knight greeted with a smile. "Is nice to see you though!"

"E-Eh, t-twin?! Who the heck are you??? I thought we took care of all the Chaos manakins already!"

Littlest hero…? He could not quite understand, but that was okay. He stepped back from the other’s gaze, feeling rather uncomfortable with being stared at so harshly. 

“M-my name is Arc…” he whispered quietly, his brown eyes to the other now. “Also… I don’t want your silly title… I would rather help my friends protect the crystals…”

"Arc, huh? You're safe for now, I suppose... but I'm warning you, if you try any funny business with me you can best bet that I won't hold back. This sword ain't just for show, got that?" he would pout lightly at the shy brunette as his eyes narrowed at him again, "You can call me Onion, that's what everyone else does anyways. I'm keepin' a close eye on you, Arc. So what's this crystal mumbo jumbo you're goin' on about?"

Zidane shook his head. “You’re not heavy yet. I’m not Jecht, but I’m stronger than I look. I’m always up for another adventure. Terra got you for most of the last time I saw you, so it’d be a lot of fun to adventure with just the two of us. Your magic would be really useful, too. I don’t have any spells.”

The boy felt bashful at Zidane's praises as he held onto him, happy that the thief thought he was useful. It always cheered him up someone he looked up to had good things to say about him, "Someday soon, I'ma be a great hero just like you and save princesses all over the world!" he had protected Terra on their journey to defeat Chaos, and even though she wasn't a princess, he thought he did a really good job, "There's a really pretty meadow down that path, we can rest there!" he'd say as he pointed excitedly down the road.

Zidane shrugged. “Well, we’re about the same size. You could try them on sometime. I don’t care. You might get used to going around with that red armor of yours, though. Still, with how quick you are, I bet you’d be a good thief.”

"Hehe, do you really think so?! You better take me out on another adventure with you one day then! I'd be the perfect person for getting to crawl through small spaces quickly!" the boy grinned as he moved his head around Zidane's to give a light kisss against the thief's cheek before yawning again, snuggling and clinging around Zidane's back a little tighter, "I hope I'm not getting too heavy..."

Zidane nodded as he carried the boy. “I’ve seen a few of them. Besides you, I’ve seen Firion, Terra, Squall, Cecil, and Warrior of Light. The only one I’ve talked to much at all is Squall, though. If you count what he does as talking. I do think you’d look good in Cecil’s armor, though. You’d be all big and tough and intimidating. It’d be funny to those of us who actually know how playful you can be, though.”

"Hmm, I hope I can go visit them all soon then!" the knight yawned as he sleepily rested his head against Zidane's back while the thief carried him, "I don't think Cecil would appreciate it as much to have somebody marching around looking just like him, especially if that somebody was me! If anything, I think I'd rather dress up and be a thief like you, hehehe!"

Zidane gripped the younger boys calves and carried him piggy back style. “Cecil? Scary? Terra is more intimidating than him, even if he is a great fighter. I missed you, too. Even more than most of the guys. You can always brighten me up.”

The knight would cheer joyfully as Zidane carried him, giggling at his comment about Terra, "Yeah, especially when you wake her up, Word to the wise, don't mess with Terra's beauty sleep..." he shivered at the thought, "I wanna grow up to be just like Cecil, aside from the his scary pointy dark armor though, hehe!" at Zidane's return of the knight's feelings, he felt his face flush even redder, "I d-didn't know you felt like that Zidane... you make me happy too! I'm happy I get to see you again, even for just a bit. None of the others have visited except for Terra from time to time, but it does get pretty lonely without the whole Cosmos gang."
