“No…” he said contemplatively, still looking away. “I could tell after my first advances were unsuccessful, that I would have to wait for you to get accustomed to the idea, first– and come to me when you were ready.” he admitted with a small yet brief smile of his own, finally looking back at her with a long dormant hunger reflected deep in his eyes.
“Is that what has brought you to me this evening? To admit it is against your nature to desire that which I would have from you?”
His claws loosely grip the armrests of his throne and clench once, then twice, in a display of his marginal irritation at being denied.
Truthfully, he still felt nothing for her aside from a mild lust, curiosity, and– perhaps, way down deep– a vague fondness. Hence his genuine delight when she had finally come before him with this admission. But his feelings still weren’t enough for encounters like the one he had proposed to be of any regular occurrence– if it should ever happen between them in the first place at all.
But Gods, it shouldn’t be this hard to convince her! He was definitely unused to encountering such difficulties, as most would gladly… indulge… if he should ask them. Indeed, were it not for his tastes trending towards a challenge he would have already been looking somewhere else for a likely partner.
