He pocketed the money and took a slice for himself, dainty bites into the cheese. “Well, keep the tears away from your college apps, I’m sure admissions officers don’t take too kindly to that.” He muffled the beginning of his next sentence with another bite of pizza. “I mean…not that it’d matter, really. With or without tears-soaked pages, you’re getting into wherever you want – which is where again?”
“stop it, you’re gonna make me actually start crying.” just thinking about all of her applications stressed her out. hallie rolled her eyes at his confidence that she’d get into her top school, and started listing off the names of school’s she and her father had agreed on. “stanford, yale, brown, harvard, columbia, duke, princeton, vanderbilt, et cetera, et cetera...” she trailed off with a sigh.
to be honest everyone at this school just seemed to blur into one person for astrid. she never really payed attention to anyone as she was always thinking about indigo. that’s why she made the mistake of thinking that this blonde girl was someone she knew when she clearly wasn’t. an awkward smile forms on her lips, “sure of course go ahead”.
“thanks,” she smiled politely, intending to get right to work but it felt strange for some reason. like she had to keep a conversation going, or it’d be awkward. “what’cha working on?”
“You sure babe?” He asked voice full of concern, reaching out and rubbing her sholder lightly. “Err… I’m the only one who saw,” Nix told her, though he sounded far from convincing.
“yes.” she hissed, wishing he would just stop drawing attention to the fact that she’d almost just faceplanted. an audible groan escaped her lips at his obvious lie. “this is so embarrassing. what kind of person just trips on their own two feet? not me, that’s who!”
hallie sat at her usual table at lunch, a barely eaten apple and bottle of voss water sat idle on the table as she worked vigorously on her homework. it’s not that she minded sitting alone, she really didn’t, it just looked embarrassing and frankly, she was annoyed that she was saving a seat for someone who hadn’t even bothered to show up. “that seat’s taken.” hallie said smugly as someone sat across from her, not even bothering to look up from her homework.
“I got the stuff, you got the money?”
“oh! yeah, sorry. here’s my half.” hallie handed him her half of the pizza money before grabbing a slice. “it smells so good i want to cry.”
astrid has a lot of work to do it’s mainly essays but still it’s a lot. the teachers always give her extensions due to her circumstances but she always wants to hand the work in on time. she’s about to get started on her work when someone sits down at the table opposite her, it’s someone she knows. she looks up at them, “hi. what’s up with you?” she says.
hallie’s barely paying attention as she makes her way through the library, too interested in her phone to notice that she almost ran into three different people. sighing she plops down at the nearest table, nearly jumping out of her skin when she hears someone talk to her. “oh my god, i didn’t even—” notice you were there, hallie thinks, but she doesn’t want to be rude so she smiles at this girl that she barely knows, who she’s now sharing a table with. “...hi. i was just.. gonna study for chem. do you care if i sit here?”
“so, i bounce my little self into victoria’s secret today, right? and this lady’s standing there, like any ol’ saleswoman does. i walk up and asked to get my bra size measured, since i haven’t shopped there in a while, and she looks right at my chest with this completely judgmental look and goes, “shouldn’t you be shopping somewhere a little more…your age?” let’s just say her blouse was covered with my latte by the end of our little chat.”
“oh my god, si! you can’t just dump your latte on someone because she thought you had small boobs!” hallie gasped, scandalized at first but as the story sunk in, she let out a giggle. “that is really rude, though. i guess she had it coming?”
Pheonix grinned as he finished putting his books back into his locker, speaking to one of his friends when he looked away briefly, seeing someone trip. “You okay over there?” He called.
“i’m fine, nix.” hallie grumbled, picking her fallen books up as quickly as possible. she looked down at the ground as she made her way over to his locker, too embarrassed to look and see who saw her stumble. “please tell me you’re the only one that saw that.”
