When I got home tonight, everyone was very sleepy. There was a lot of yawning. First Nefertiti yawned, then Valandris yawned, and then finally Claude emerged and yawned but my phone is stuffed full of ferret photos and couldn’t capture his yawns.
I miss my super fat fluffy winter Kit, but the nice thing about skinny (but still pretty fluffy) spring King is that now that the winter weight is off, his special ninja jump is back! :D
I love him.
Ferret personalities under the cut:
We adopted three new ferrets. :) Claudius Kahless, the big male sable, and two girls about a year old. Nefertiti is the albino and Valandris is the sable. Here the girls are using Claude as a pillow.
The girls picked up some bad habits from former owners- namely, biting. They bite hard and hang on, sometimes. We’re training them to stop, and they seem to understand, but if they get wound up they forget. It’s a learning process. Claude is sweet and cuddly.
I haven’t been good at keeping up with this blog. Tavi had health problems over the last year, and we had to put her to sleep on Nov. 13th. This has been pretty hard on us; we miss our little weasel.
Most likely there will be more ferrets in our future, but I’m not ready just yet. Instead I’ve been donating to some ferret shelters, and plan to sponsor a ferret or two from the Ferret Giving Tree.
I hope everyone’s ferrets are happy and healthy, and maybe I’ll start posting again next year.
Dec. 10, 2016. We took Tavi to see Santa. She was good as always, though she did try to burrow into Santa's beard.
Photos of Tavi taken with my 3DS. On the 3DS they're 3D! She was helping me make the bed.
Tavi has adrenal disease and earlier this year lost a great deal of fur on her back and stomach. We talked to our vet and got a Suprelorin (deslorelin) implant for her. It took a few weeks to kick in, and during that time Tavi got very skinny, so we started feeding her a mixture of chicken baby food and prescription cat food (from the vet). Tavi looks amazing now, she has grown back her fur and put on a lot of weight, I think she went from about 20oz to 30oz now. She is fat and sassy and has a beautiful coat. The Suprelorin does not cure adrenal disease- it controls the symptoms. We're planning on giving her another implant in February and keep doing them every six months. Meanwhile, she still gets her meals of chicken baby food and prescription cat food, and has a liver supplement as well.

I guess it's been a while since I've posted here. Tavi is doing mostly well, though according to a blood test she is having kidney issues. She also apparently has insulinoma and adrenal disease. We are feeding her several times a day to keep her glucose levels steady, and she seems to be doing well. She has a deslorelin implant to help with the adrenal symptoms. We hope her fur will grow back, but even if it doesn't, she's still our bony baloney baby. As you can see from the video, she's still energetic and playful.
Tavi savages a helpless sock, then realizes she has an itch.
I have a million photos of Tavi on my phone and sometimes I find really cute ones.
Took Tavi to the park today. She found a hole to dig in and was very excited.
Tavi's toybox. Everything put away neat and tidy, for about 5 minutes.

Tavi's toybox. Gotta make sure all the toys are there. Eventually she will drag them out and rehide them.
