Your final girl ain't shit. Like can't these slasher tv shows hire a final girl or write a final girl that's worth it. A sad sack with no social graces isn't up ending the social hierarchy no matter how blonde her hair is. Why any one wants to spend 5 minutes with her is beyond me. Why everyone on this show is like ahhhhhhh if only this boring plain pancake weren't here all the attention would be on me!!!!!!! - its ridiculous.

So, WAYWARD PINES is coming back. Which is great cause that show is fantastic, even though gen x losers can’t wrap their ego around it.
I am ambivalent about the set up. Another old white guy with a rocky marriage will addle through Wayward Pines as our POV character. I love that it's a classic and cheesy sci-fi sequel move. The sequel's protagonist is a new character in name only. Everything else about the new guy is so exactly the same as the first guy it's preposterous. The details of the sameness are bothersome, though. 15 years of marriage and one bout of infidelity is the most tedious place to place our main character. HETEROSEXUALITY IS SO BORING! Then again... If this plays out like I’m hoping - as a true blue BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES - then we’re fine. I mean the final twist last season was aggressively PLANET OF THE APES a n y w a y.
So in BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES Charlton Heston’s character literally vanishes into thin air. Where'd he go? That wasn't an exaggeration - he literally vanishes into thin air. So wouldn't you know it, another white guy from the 20th century crashes his spaceship exactly where Mr. Heston's landed. And in the most amazing move ever, he just picks up where Heston’s character left off. He takes the stupid mute girlfriend and the shock of a Simian society and just goes on adventure number 2. He wasn't there for adventure one, but he might as well have been. It's basically Charlton guys! The actual one didn't want to come back! It's the 70's and STAR WARS didn't happen yet so no one respects sci fi. And how could they, did you see the shit we pulled with our protagonist for the sequel? He's just a copy of the main character from the original. Shameful.
Which is exactly the corny shit that this show was so good at celebrating during season one.
But if this guy has a troubled relationship with his son I am going to loose it. Straight men being bad fathers and feeling vaguely bad about it later in life is so fucking boring.
B U T I’m really looking forward to hating all the first generation shit heads just as much as I did David Pilcher.

Such a crazily dense comedy. I’m rewatching it now for the 8th or 9th time and I still find jokes that I didn’t notice before. It still makes me laugh out loud which is something that I don’t even do when i watch comedies. And I know I always complain about adjective soup when people are talking about shows, but i don’t have the energy to write about how Fiona Wallice is ~Where We Are As A Culture~.
Let’s just say Lisa Kudrow is a star and I need her back in my life immediately.

I hate to be super whatever but basing the entire season on talk show conspiracy guys being right, and anti-vax people being right, and radical anarchists being right...
and then leaving it on such a terrible uninteresting cliff hanger of a UFO floating above Scully...

So maybe THE PATH is a bad tv show?
Hugh Dancy is brilliant, but the material he is given; the show that surrounds him - it’s pretty ordinary. A TV show about religion will always demand I watch the first episode. A cult? Most TV shows about religion are about cults, but irregardless I am there.
HOWEVER
This show is about heterosexuality in a way that I am so fucking bored by. Infidelity, kids, teenage boys and their fucking dads, choosing the wrong guy. Plus, the cult stuff is fucking vague and not as stomach turning as the music intrusively insists.
The main dilemma seems to be is this old man really in seclusion finishing the final steps of the path or is he dead. Knowing the atrocities that can flower in a cult, this old man’s mortality seems a particularly uninspired choice as the catalyst for a crisis of conscious. Especially since it’s all wrapped up in a hallucination.
I mean Hugh Dancy is brilliant. His boiling disgust for the world that he calls love. The rage at everyone who isn’t disciplined when that is the only thing he believes matters.
But then there is a sexually abused teenage girl who wants nothing more than to blow him and he lets her after beating up her pimp who is her dad. Like that is disgusting in a way I’ve not seen since TRUE DETECTIVE season 1 showed us that through the sexual horrors visited on the bodies of young girls, two straight men can learn to be better friends. And fuck your whore wife who had the audacity of being a person with feelings. She really screwed up your friendship with your bro there for awhile.
